I keep finding oddities about the sco-fsd so ill update this comment with any new stuff: 1. Apparently, fuel usage and some heat mechanics are controlled by your throttle position, even at a high fps cap, TLDR keep your throttle at 0 while overcharging 2. Setting your game to 45 fps cap seems to do the exact same as 30 fps, so just use that, less headache.
This reminds me of the original engineers update, with the NPC's building franken weapons, specifically the rail-beam laser, a beam laser that landed a rail gun damage every single FRAME...
Doing the math, the new "C" FSD'S, may be useful, but only if and when one's ship is only utilzed for doing Odyssey mission's. They are worthless when it come's to needing a higher jump range that a same class "A" provide's.
Bro, I got an SCO fsd thinking it was slightly engineered to have a better jump range. I didn't realize it also allowed me to do a boost. I fidgeted around with my keys and hit the boost button and... well, I managed to make it back with 30 hull damage, 130 heat, and like a quarter of my line fuel gage with no extra 😅
If you dont care about where you end up, or if you have fuel left, or that your range will be abysmal this thing is great. Sigh. Lets hope it gets improved upon (many believe that, but its Fdev after all :/ )
WTH!!! that explains why my Clipper cooked when I tested the drive. I'm not sure I'll be lowering my framerate from 144 to 30 though. Looks like a Steam Deck ship build is in my future.
@@Blaze10523 Well damn, I've been playing a long time and the moment I get a new ship it's A's & D's. I thought A was equal for most for thermals but then I'm not doing anything where heat is an issue.
@@turbokadett i mean the difference is pretty tiny, and ofc for anything else the performance hit for taking E rated wouldnt be worth it at all. the funny thing is i tried this sco build with D grade thrusters and life support and it didnt hold a stable temp. switching to E was just enough to make it work
OK, not the heat generation value finally make sense :D You just have to multiply the with your framerate :D With Courier and Hauler you don't even need engineering, just the 30 FPS.
Dang, it's that unstable when you engage? Kinda sucky, but doable. 5:18 Does the module slowly degrade till it disengages? I'm out in the Black exploring. I was contemplating going back to the bubble to get one of these doohickeys. 🤔💭
the drop at the end was an E-stop because i ran out of fuel. you can freely toggle it off whenever while remaining in supercruise, then it has a short cooldown of like 10 seconds. It doesnt directly take module damage but you will overheat a lot normally. the crap part about the fsd is the jump range, its basically a stock C grade fsd that cant be engineered
i noticed that too, as far as i can tell thats down to throttle position, not sure if fps has anything to do with it. the top speed is lower as well, a dolphin should do 3.8kc. its odd because when i tested all the classes of sco-fsd the speed was consistent regardless of throttle position.
aw maaaaan.... would like to hear u narrate that... also this would be cool to have done in a system with a lot of planets and suns to show the insane WHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE'ness of it! 😜 ^ Comment for your algorithm!
@@Blaze10523 Well, yeah, but you don't need to be in boost the whole time. You'll be at 2000c anyway after a bit, so as long as you know how far you have to travel to do 2000c naturally, you can turn off boost at that point, the when you get close, boost again, but not so close that you overshoot.
Fuel burn seems to be tied to your stock fuel tank. The smaller it is the less fuel you'll burn. Though downsizing doesn't change that. Seems that its the slot size

Thats my Fdev, just as dumb as with sampling tissue scamples where 30 FPS turn 25% success rate into 90% success rate
LOL didnt expect my discovery to be in a video so soon

o7. apologies for not crediting your original post at first, added a link to it now. ngl i just totally missed it.

me who regularly drops below 30fps with decent graphics: MY TIME HAS COME
game is good, has no flaws.
Ha, frame rate is it? Grabs the C64 from the shelf.
Yes, a true Fdev moment.
Definitely an Fdev moment of all time

not being able to engineer it is the main issue
Very nice of hge signals and if you have a FC during exobio missions. Other than that, we need a better version of this drive.

indeed its a bit of a scuffed module, i do hope we at least get to engineer it at some point
It's a great module, if you use it properly
well that's embarrassing... What dev forget to use the time_scalar in their code again? FDev.
What do you mean by "again"?
Thats what i wanna know 😂@@tortenschachtel9498

I'd love FDev, if I didn't think it was enabling.
You say that the E modules are intended but why? Wouldn't other modules run cooler?
E-rated modules actually use the least power so in tern generate less heat

99% sure this is a bug, since you have to cap your FPS
obviously a bug lol
Fuel consumption also looks way lower

i might make another vid if and when i get a solid grasp on all the ways this new FSD is broken, ill be sure to fly past some stuff lol
Some goto Hutton now with this!
not enough fuel, this only made it 842k LS. It might work in a vette

So does that mean that the consumed fuel is also tied to the fps or does it still drink more than the entirety of scotland combined?
fuel burn doesnt seem to be tied to fps, but moving the throttle to 0 cuts the fuel consumption down a bit

@@shagohodred2464 yep its the stock tank size. but theres more to it since there is slight inconsistencies across ships
So I overheat faster in VR at 90 fps? That sucks! I'll try throttling back to see how much it helps.
yeah its a bit shit, but its not too bad with conventional use, just using small bursts to get out of grav wells
What if i run the game in 18fps?
my guess is it would act the same, since a 30 and 45 fps cap does same thing, but 60 doesnt work.
Yeah but you’re in a dolphin, they handle heat better anyway
Impressive, too bad I cant play the game because Frontier broke Context-Sensitive-Inputs with the 18.02 patch
Great work but no way am i dropping to console frames.
lmao it's like they made it for consoles
