This happened quiet a few times in real Roman history. Though it was governors who were not entirely Roman. It fought small numbers of Roman soldiers due to a feud between a governor and senator. Roman senator sent its own troops, lost, cried to Caesar and Caesar sent troops, lost, sent more troops but lost. Rome sent assassins and got rid of the governor. Replaced by senator who took over and got killed by the people who lived in the city who was loyal to the old governor. Shat happens…

caesar 3 was the 2nd game i ever played. i got the demo on a pc gamer CD.
When you repell his next invasion instead of "the emperors respect" a bugged out message appears..

I didn't even know you could be invaded by Caesar on this game. It happened to me on Caesar IV, but never on III...
I always got rekt by it on the 3 :( Hated Caesar IV for not having indigenous.

Doesn't he send an even larger force later? I think it gets to like 10 legions as max or something, or maybe I am remebering wrong.

They usually sent 12 or so
the final wave caesar sends is 6 legions for 96 men.
I think it's unfair how your enemy can deploy more infantry than your allowed to.
