Part of the driving experience in owning an m3 is taking it to redline. The m3 was marketed as the ultimate street car part time track cars. Taking it to redline won't hurt it and is why the rev limiter is their. Of course, like all mechanical systems, it eventually wears, that's inevitable.

Rev it to 8200? Does his have software in it too? I'm comfortable taking it to 7900, but I think the BMW engineers limited it there for a reason don't you?
