How to buy a house in Jamaica? Here is my attempt at detailing all steps to obtaining a mortgage and buying your home in Jamaica. Almost all documents were done while in the US via email communication.

Didn't you need a Surveyor's ID Report? I'm wondering too why you had to go to Titles Office and ensure water payment up-to-date: both of those are for the vendor.
Yes, I had to get it before closing on the house.

The bank takes more documents more than nht

A few more comments... Realtor not necessarily trying to get a bigger cut. Demand is very high. If you hadn't made the offer you did someone would likely outbid you. Portmore has several house types, so not all are attached. Don't watch the extra spend to fix, watch value application. Lastly, careful how you expand; scheme houses don't go beyond a certain price, no matter what's in it & how much you spend.
