    CrossFit seems like a pretty fun concept but the kipping pull ups are so off putting

      Do them strict... The event doesn't call for Kipping Pull Ups. A pull up is getting your chin over the bar, you do it however you want. But you'll be last to every event with a pull up on it.

      @@DarthBane-zf8wv I can do around 18-20 pullups with 2 sec up 3 sec down with perfect form. The kipping pullups not only looks insanely dumb, it also works the muscles less and with poorer quality, but its also damaging for the joints in the long run.

      @@DarthBane-zf8wv Believe what you want, pal. Shoulder injuries are incredibly common within the community. Kipping will never be hangups, its two completely different exercises. They had to invent their own rules to make kipping legal.. in any other contest it would never be accepted as a pullup.

    Mat is the GOAT 🐐! A true competitor. I do wish CrossFit didn’t hate money, because continuing on with weird gymnastics events that less than 1% of the does is a major barrier to becoming a mainstream sport. Handstand walking, for example, has literally nothing to do with fitness.

    For the last time Kipling pull ups are for competitions only they’re on a time limit in the events they learn strict pull ups first you guys really are brain dead 💀

      how are you going to determine as a ref, what a valid pullup is vs what a kipping pullup is? the line is grey so you may as well just let them all kip

      Nobody in crossfit believes that kipped pullups count as strict pullups. They are two different movements with different goals.

      Who gets to define “valid pull-ups?” Maybe the people who determine the standards of the sport in which the athletes are competing? No one is claiming that kipping pull-ups are the same as strict. They are different movements for different purposes. Kipping allows you to accomplish more work in less time, and in CrossFit’s rigorous definition of fitness, that increases intensity and power output.

      @@stellar_ape when people get tired, they tend to sway their body even a little bit. even people claiming to do so called strict pullups will often sway their head. If youre a ref, you would be arguing endlessly about where the line starts and stops between strict vs slight kipping. So as i said, in crossfit its more logisticaly feasible to just let everyone kip
