I feel like all of the new weapon variants are going to be like the Sharpshooter and the SRS Cannon, where they have a more niche use. There's only so many all-purpose weapon variants that can exist before they start to become redundant.
There's a little trick that I found, the sharpshooter treats both the ceiling and skybox as a flat surface. So shooting at the feet of an enemy can cause a lot of damage. With includes bosses. Now the interesting part is that it works very well on Gabe's first fight, when he uses his spear, at the moment where he teleports above V1 shooting the ground or ceiling will cause a good amount of damage for little effort.
Was really important for me taking out Minos Prime; I was more focusing on using the Railcannon to just fire it for damage/a quick heal (outside of a double railcoin opener), but typically when he did his walking I slid by him to throw out a (slab) ricochet
5:00 due to coin priority, the sharpshooter actually goes from the first coin to the second instead of zig-zagging to the ground and then hitting the 2nd Additionally, the alternate sharpshooter does not auto-aim to enemy weakpoints upon bouncing, which makes it better for sharpcoin setups because the angle it bounces off of becomes consistent

One thing you (I think) forgot to mention: the slab variant does not target weakpoints. What this means is that the slab variant is better for coin combos, bosses, and general reliability in knowing where the laser is going to bounce. In my opinion, shelling out extra damage with coins to multiple heavy enemies is worth more than single target locational damage. A good example is the 4 cerb room in p-2; it will be harder to hit them all effectively with the default sharpshooter as the shot bounces to the first cerbs head instead. Whereas with the slab, the shot bounces back directly to you, allowing you to put coins directly in its path.

If the alternate sharpshooter had a shorter cooldown it would be way more appealing imo. The damage for a single shot isn’t worth that long of a cooldown, especially because of it’s utility to instakill Maurice
The alt revolver received a charge time buff, allowing you to charge it to full almost instantly. This makes it much better in general because it becomes as easy to use as the railcannon, essentially giving you a second charge of electric (because it pierces) and malicious (because it can explode) railcannons.
I did edit the description, and you're quite right. I much prefer the alt now, because you can effectively use it whenever you see projectiles coming towards you. The only situation it's worse in might be the CG since you can kill 3 MaliFaces with the default Sharpshooter.
I was messing around with the sharpshooter because of this video and I discovered some "new" tech. Basically, you can do a slabcoin (it means to coin punch+ shoot the coin with the alt-piercer, it's pretty simple and does more damage than the electric railcannon) with the alt-sharpshooter (or regular) and you don't have to be accurate, but you do need atleast a roof to do more damage than a slabcoin with a piercer. Edit: you can add coins to the redslabcoin (up to 3 more)

What’s also awesome about Maurice instakills is that the style bonus goes up substantially as a result, allowing you to shrug off hard damage very easily and also get to the ULTRAKILL rank, where you will not build up hard damage, allowing for more whiplash and overpump shotgun or jackhammer plays.
what I love about the alternate sharpshooter, is that if you have a mind flayer in a environment with a roof, such as P-2, you can cause enough damage if you time coins and the sharpshooter correctly
idk why but the sharpshooter is my favourite rn. i use it in situations where a normal revolver shot would be enough but its just so much fun to bounce shots of walls and stuff. might not be the best weapon in the game but its the most fun for me lately
I only got the game recently but I absolutely adore the Sharpshooter Revolver. It’s really nice for taking out high priority targets in more confined space by bouncing the bullet back and forth through their hitbox between two parallel surfaces, and for taking out groups of weak enemies in very tight areas. The Slab Variant is especially good for taking out high priority targets, as it can deal a huge amount of damage if it hits the target a full 4 times. First go through hits for 2.5, second for 3.75, and the third and fourth hit for 5 each, dealing a whopping 16.25 damage in total. And if you’re better than me at the game, a single coin bounce immediately boosts the damage per hit to the max of 5, so you could deal up to 20 damage if it then hits the target the full 4 times. However the regular Sharpshooter is still pretty powerful, being able to hit for up to 9 damage in total if it hits the target all 4 times, or up to 12 if it is ricocheted of a coin first. While both of those numbers are significantly lower than the Slab Variant’s damage, the multiple charges and faster recharge is nice. And it can be even more devastating than the slab version if you can bounce that through a target’s head.

Sharp shooter is my go to revolver along with coin because of its cqc. If you have 2 walls and an enemy then you can practically melt anything, ridiculously good imo
3:28 I think it’s SLAB as I use it as a quick ricoshot as it full charges instantly with SLAB. How I do it is I hit 1 3 times then right click but I’m not here to say your wrong
i feel like this needs to be said for anybody not into ultrakill or looking for reasons to get in. 15 damage isn't a small amount of damage here. King Minos the hardest enemy has 130 health. The reason health and damage are so low in this game is because the challenge isn't killing the enemies it's staying alive.
In certain scenarios if a Maurice is in front of a wall and charging a cannon shot use the full spin sharpshooter to chargeback the Maurice then the bullet will pass through ricochet back and hit the Maurice again in the back killing it in one shot
The marksman may be powerful but don't lie. Spinning a gun at great speed as if you're a sci fi cowboy is just so darn cool! Especially combind with the power of spare change you feel like the coolest person in the universe with the power of a GOD!
I personally like to carry the Slab Peircer and the Slab Sharpshooter, reason being I can get quickdraw combos when dealing with a lot of soldiers in the room, plus the additional damage allows for some reliable maurice kills just in case
I played around with the sharpshooter, and now it’s the only weapon I use (unless I absolutely NEED another). I love this gun so much, and youd expect a dps issue, but that’s only an issue in large open areas, and/or against bosses with minimal projectiles. I almost needed to pick up another weapon for leviathan, but exploding it’s projectiles can deal a shit ton of damage. However, even though the general level in p-2 is possible, I absolutely could not beat the boss with only the sharpshooter. If you’re doing this, I highly reccomend the default variant, as the slab sharpshooter is unreliable without other weapons to supplement it. Also, if you worry about style, you don’t need to. When you start a level with only one weapon picked up (which doesn’t include mid-level weapons like the nailgun), your gun is always fresh, giving that 1.5x style bonus. The levels I had the most trouble with were anything with insurrectionists, but that’s mostly just a skill issue with me and 4-2, i fucking hate God Damn The Sun (although the gun still does have trouble killing the insurrectionists without cheese).
@@NotNOV4 yeah thats fair. i wouldnt say its harder since the revolver (and a bunch of other solo weapons actually) can do nearly anything other weapons can. but to people who are actually good at and enjoy rapidly switching between weapons, it absolutely is boring. but i am neither of those things (i literally could not p rank 4-2 with all weapons) so i find it more fun than playing normally. but i think its great for the game to actually support (or at least not destroy) playing like i do instead of forcing the normal way of playing.
honestly I use the regular one just for instakilling maurices on the regular in high cybergrind waves because you eventually get to the point shooting some random projectiles deflects everything and kills the map, and before then you get to essentially delete a maurice every 6 seconds.
There is a change in the Slab Sharpshooter. It is that you can instantly ULTRARICOCHET instead of having to wait 0.30seconds. I get your point, but i still prefer the ALT Sharpshooter for me. It has helped me complete a V2 speedrun.

It seems like no one really uses the sharp shooter, but it is literally my favorite gun. It basically one shots maurice, virtues, or Cerberus if you shoot it straight up or down above an enemy, or straight forward at a wall. It’s also basically a free S or SS combo if there’s a group of filth. Just jump on top, shoot down, and bathe in the blood.
I found the alt ver really useful for one shotting virtues and malicious faces in indoor environments, but it can be hard to line up and impossible to do in rooms that dont have a flat roof or bottom. Also slow rof of alt pistols isnt an issue if you quickswap them, and you dont need more than one charge on red due to style
The slab revolver still gives more healing if you hit the head, probably the most consistent way to get a full heal from something like a stray or filth.
The techs don't just involve you looking down and using the ricochet so it goes up and hits coins, you can also use it for groups of enemies with an horizontal ricochet, you just need to be in a locked space, and throw your coins in the projectile, you can also do something similar when you look down, if you throw one coin and shoot the sharpshooter down so it gets to it, you can throw three more, because the sharpshooter is gonna come back down and go up again, so you repeat that for the other 3 coins, its insane damage.
The uitlility of the Slab Sharpshooter only really becomes apparent if one uses all threee Slab revoler variants, as it opens up the "Slab Swapping" tech, similar to shotgun swapping. It is IMO worth the awkwardness of not having the vanilla marksman and sharpshooters. Also, you should put in the work to master the instant-mount rocket ride technique.
First off, i love the sharpshooter, i use it way more than i should compared to other weapons But genuine question, doesnt it make the piercer kinda redundant? The piercer shoots a beam that penetrates and hits 3 times and the sharpshooter fires a piercing shot that bounces up to 4 times Is thr only diference damage and consistencg, cuz the piercer will always hit 3 times no matter if the walls are paralel? While the sharpshooter can do more if the walls align?
No. The piercer is far, far more reliable. The Sharpshooter will very rarely use all 4 ricochets, and it's even rarer for those to hit the exact targets you want. The piercer also stacks well with coins, and can deal even more damage than a Railcannon shot when used properly.
As a new player i had no idea the sharpshooter was added this late in development, with how much i was using it at the start i was thinking it was there from the moment marksman was added
I like the slab sharpshooter more because it rotates at max speed instantly which lets me use it as a secondary railgun and easy ultraricoshot style boost
Personally, I use the 2nd variant of the sharpshooter and use it on tanks that are against walls to so more damage. I suppose I can start using coins tho. I also don’t use the piercer (I un-equip it) so I can more smoothly go from my sharpshooter to coins as it’s annoying and I don’t use the piercer like at all.
you missed a bunch of things such as coins adding extra ricochets, and the malicious face instakill also dealing damage via the red explosion (while most yellow explosions cannot damage a malicious face, all red explosions can)
Coins add extra ricochets but only up to the cap. Realistically, almost everyone is going to spin the weapon for the full second, which makes it so coins won't help.
You have had 898 days (21,552 hours or 1,293,120 minutes or 77,587,200 seconds) to complete the first Prime Sanctum. Not really my problem if you got spoiled.
I honestly use it alot. (Slab) Tanky enemy? Sharpshooter Grouped enemies? Sharpshooter Scattered enemies? Sharpshooter (and a bit of hope) Is it the best weapon for these things? No Is it an ok weapon for these things? Mostly Is it the first thing my mind clicks to when I see a problem and two walls (or Maurice with them irresistible parriable orbs)? Yes To me, the ability to take care of most of any situations with just one weapon and only a bit of set up is pretty good. But I'm no professional by any means, I just use it cause I'm used to using it and it don't take no skill.

ive found the slab sharpshooter excellent for chunking minos at the start of the fight before flowing through with the bue and rail

When I realized doing Chargeback was too hard especially for quick movement plays, I immediately decided to just use the Sharpshooter.

something i like to do with it is “mini nuking” where you hit a shotgun core or srs cannon with it for a bigger explosion

The slab revolver still gives more healing if you hit the head, probably the most consistent way to get a full heal from something like a stray or filth.

The techs don't just involve you looking down and using the ricochet so it goes up and hits coins, you can also use it for groups of enemies with an horizontal ricochet, you just need to be in a locked space, and throw your coins in the projectile, you can also do something similar when you look down, if you throw one coin and shoot the sharpshooter down so it gets to it, you can throw three more, because the sharpshooter is gonna come back down and go up again, so you repeat that for the other 3 coins, its insane damage.

The uitlility of the Slab Sharpshooter only really becomes apparent if one uses all threee Slab revoler variants, as it opens up the "Slab Swapping" tech, similar to shotgun swapping. It is IMO worth the awkwardness of not having the vanilla marksman and sharpshooters.
Also, you should put in the work to master the instant-mount rocket ride technique.

But genuine question, doesnt it make the piercer kinda redundant? The piercer shoots a beam that penetrates and hits 3 times and the sharpshooter fires a piercing shot that bounces up to 4 times
Is thr only diference damage and consistencg, cuz the piercer will always hit 3 times no matter if the walls are paralel? While the sharpshooter can do more if the walls align?
No. The piercer is far, far more reliable. The Sharpshooter will very rarely use all 4 ricochets, and it's even rarer for those to hit the exact targets you want. The piercer also stacks well with coins, and can deal even more damage than a Railcannon shot when used properly.
As a new player i had no idea the sharpshooter was added this late in development, with how much i was using it at the start i was thinking it was there from the moment marksman was added

I like the slab sharpshooter more because it rotates at max speed instantly which lets me use it as a secondary railgun and easy ultraricoshot style boost

Personally, I use the 2nd variant of the sharpshooter and use it on tanks that are against walls to so more damage. I suppose I can start using coins tho. I also don’t use the piercer (I un-equip it) so I can more smoothly go from my sharpshooter to coins as it’s annoying and I don’t use the piercer like at all.
i mostly use the slab because in layer 7 they buffed it so it instantly charges
Yeah, it's a lot better in my opinion.
you missed a bunch of things such as coins adding extra ricochets, and the malicious face instakill also dealing damage via the red explosion (while most yellow explosions cannot damage a malicious face, all red explosions can)
Coins add extra ricochets but only up to the cap. Realistically, almost everyone is going to spin the weapon for the full second, which makes it so coins won't help.
I almost prefer it to the piercer. I've been using slab sharp and just unequipped the pierce

Iirc you can also "insta"kill Maurice and Virtues if they're under a ceiling by simpling firing the ricochet shot directly up and through them

Is it the best weapon for these things? No

Is it the first thing my mind clicks to when I see a problem and two walls (or Maurice with them irresistible parriable orbs)? Yes
To me, the ability to take care of most of any situations with just one weapon and only a bit of set up is pretty good. But I'm no professional by any means, I just use it cause I'm used to using it and it don't take no skill.
It's honestly just fun to use cause I don't try that hard
