- In this video I take my Mini Roadster JCW to my mate Darren at Mulgari and start the work to transform her. She's getting some Mulgari Magic at last !

Hello Peter…Thank goodness for getting rid of those awful pops etc….when I was young, that was always the result of incorrect engine timing and we did lots of careful setting to stop it happening! In racing, that was a different reason and Alfa Romeo etc were well known for it but then it was in a good way. If you want your 948cc Morris Minor to do it, just advance the ignition miles over and it will pop and bang easily but be undriveable! Now it’s that suspension I’m most interested in…ride quality THEN handling is my goal…a smooth car is so much easier to drive quickly than a tea trolley on casters!! Keep enjoying that sun…😃😃😃😎😎😎😎😎

Love the videos Ped - just want to say have been watching your channel for a while and recently just bought a 2020 Clubman JCW after seeing how much fun you had with Charlie clubman ! one thing you could do in the engine bay is change the colour of the rocker cover to red with the petrol ped logo on it.brighten up the engine bay, great video on getting the mini back to road spec.

A Bilstein B 14? That was coming stock with my R 56 GP…. Nothing i would suppose. I changed it for an Öhlins Road and Track, and now it is awsome ;-)

That must be the 1.6L Prince engine!? I’ve one of those in my 308 Gti 270 by Peugeot Sport! Epic things when serviced well. Mines 300bhp & 380nm and at only 1205kg, it’s an absolute beast!

I'm very surprised that things went wrong so quickly with those parts. And, that you could not have just raised the car and get less aggressive pads.
That's a ton of money there.
That said, good video. Your work is very relatable, and he's also very good on camera.
Tried less aggressive pads. Didn’t work as those Alcons are race brakes with no NVH. Coilovers were shot. Agreed that isn’t great 👎

Thanks for the video, I have a question as I'm planning to buy one. At what mileage are you planning to change the timing chain on this N18 engine?
Interesting that you chose Bilstein B14 coilovers as this is what I had installed a few years back on my R58 JCW and I was thinking the ride was harsh and had been considering moving back to stock as the wife wont drive the car so Christ knows what those BC coilovers must have been like - rocks perhaps 😂? I also have EBC vented and drilled rotors and pads all round and they have been great and certainly no squeals
The BCs are like blocks of rubber 😂

I too am looking forward to the conclusion of the pairing back to road focused car. I can't believe you would take a car to a garage let a lone Mulgari when the car looks like that i.e. wheel arches and engine bay. I always have my car and engine bay pristine for any schedule garage visit and even my sons car gets the works before a visit to my local garage. Mind you until I bought my eMTB my cars were spotless all the time now not so much as I would rather be out on my bike unless it's raining of course.
She’s hardly turned a wheel in 3 months. Plenty of cleaning content to come 👍
Smart those coilovers! Hope you leave some pops and bangs thats my favourite part of the r56, feathering the throttle to initiate gunfire was always fun.

If it’s a dedicated track car, ok but to my eyes the stance and obviously ride is to extreme for road use which I guess is the point, I am sure the alloys save weight but the stock items from factory looked great..but good luck with retro project.

Where are the discs from, Ped? Looking at some EBC discs/pads this year
They are the cheap ones you get with the brake callipers and discs from mod a mini they are ok to be fair. The ebc ultimax discs are better but not cheap I have ran both I have those callipers with fds2500 pads and ebc discs and i can’t get brake fade on track.
Any Edinburgh garage to recommend for modifying a 3rd gen mini?

Really depends on you insurer and the mod but the most important thing is you must tell your insurer whenever you change something on the car 👍
Chocolate doesn't go off.. the cocoa solids sometimes come to the surface but that's mainly a cosmetic thing... 6 months is not long enough for that.. you need a few years... don't waste that bar.. you are making this diabetic cry! XD
