On my trip to Europe and the UK I hired a BMW racecar for 6 laps of the ring. I don't know what the name of the corner is at 9:36 but I messed that corner up and into the grass on my 1st lap. I can now see where I went wrong. It is a double corner! Thanks Peter. I will remember that day. I took my son around twice, gave him the car for one lap. I also took my wife and she said" why are we going so slow?" I was doing 144kph into a blind corner. She has been my rally navigator for years so she loved the ride.

Ah yes, that's one of the things I remember most about my own lap with Misha. Was in extreme weather, we almost crashed and/or had another car crash into us, etc., pretty much one of the most stressful things I've ever experienced.. and at the end Misha gets out and his demeanor's like he just drove to the supermarket. Either he's just so used to it, or just a totally different type of person.

Well Peter…Misha is such a good man and as you experienced, he can drive in a way most of us can only stand in awe of. As we know what happened next, I’m glad you didn’t have the problem that bit Misha and Joe and more that all of you three are fine and uninjured. Was that rose joint about to let go on your run?…if that is what failed! If I get to the Ring then Misha is the one I will chose to ride with…but his friend Tim is hot stuff as well. Your face tells me a lot about the experience..you are a wheelman of some ability well beyond me!…so Misha really is something very, very special and a truly nice man as well! 😀😀😀😀

Just don't do it on a Sunday or Saturday morning, better around lunch or later in the afternoon.
There is a drivers training "Nordschleife XL", in the morning sessions you don't have to worry about cars from behind. Groups of 6 are led around the Ring by an instructor. Overtakting is only done by entire groups after the instructors agreed to where and when.

We used to visit the Nordschleife in the 1990’s for private track days combined with Spa for a week every year with Wheeltorque ( no longer in business)….back then you didn’t have UA-cam to help learn the track ….. I learnt it in sections and gradually could put it all together…..some years we did the combined GP circuit and Nordschleife together ……no pressure unlike the TF days….. and always took out track insurance 😊
