  • Time's ticking...Just 24 hours to REBUILD a BMW E46!
This BMW E46 has some rust on the rocker panel, and to stop it from getting as bad as my E39, we’re replacing the whole panel. But that’s not all! In just 24 hours, we also need to fix a knocking sound in the rear that’s been bothering me for 4 years, plus replace the front suspension struts. But along the way there are so many obstacles we need to overcome. Can we get it all done in 24 hours? Watch to find out!

Amazing work, I admire your stamina! However, I am 72 now, so I would expect a difference! I have a 2003 325Ci M Sport, beautiful car in rust-free condition. I have had it 3 years now, and it has had the same rear-end clunk as yours since I bought it. Previous history from a garage inspection noted "noise from prop shaft". I have had a new clutch and flywheel, had the prop shaft fully re-conditioned, have replaced one drive shaft which had excessive play, someone before me has replaced all the differential bushes. It still clunks. In desperation I have bought a supposedly-good used differential which I have yet to fit. I will watch your channel with interest to see if you cure this noise.

Thank you so much, Bob! I really appreciate your comment. I always love hearing other stories. It’s surprising how many other E46 owners are dealing with the same issue. It's almost like it's a normal thing for these cars! If you end up replacing your differential, I’d love to hear if it fixes the problem. Please stay safe :)

the clunk could be the rear diff bushing. Im shure youll find the issue keep going

Hallo :) Thanks. I guess it could be. It is a PU bushing, but also the hardest one you can get. Maybe this Bushing just amplifies the knocking sound.

Great video my friend. I guess that clunking noise could be from the wheel bearings. I am so curious about the noise. Can't wait to see the next video.

Hey, my friend :) It could be possible, but I replaced both bearings two years ago. I'm also really motivated to find out the reason for this noise...

I am plagued with the same clunk in my 328ci. It has been 5 years now and still the clunk has not desapeared. I changed nearly all the bushings with poly one. My next plan is to swap a 6 speed from a diesel, so i'll change the flywheel, clutch, driveshaft and diff.
