No antibiotics readily available to the general public in 1935. Paul had a urinary infection before; his doc gave him sulpher tablets, which only made his piss smell horrible and did nothing for the actual infection. I so very happy you stayed with this reaction, Trey! Despite your reluctance to sit through a 3-hour movie, I think you started to believe it would be worth the trip. As a reaction viewer, I must say you did an excellent job in spite of your trepidation of such a long film and the occasional mind-bending events portrayed. Great job! To me, the most poignant line in "TGM" is John's "I'm sorry for what I am." Remember what Del said: "I'm sorry for what I do." BIG difference between "am" and "do." As a mental exercise, Trey, how would you have appealed John's death sentence once you knew of his powers? Who would believe it? Remember, this is 1935 Jim Crow Louisiana.
@@Teereacts11 But John wanted to go. You're proud for not letting out any tears. I'm a fan of sad movies. If I cry at a movie, I'd never feel shame as a man. It was a great success. Indeed, Louisiana was Democrat run, and just like today they passed all kinds of racist laws while trying to accuse everyone else. No way things would turn out well. 😢 Difference is today they claim they are doing it for people's own good, while looking down on them and hurting the community under the guise of "help".
John was absorbing Dail's pain during his execution. That is why he was shaking and the mouse ran away. It was also why he was so tired afterwards . Also, he is not stupid, dumb or slow. They have him acting that way to make him appear innocent, pure.... childlike.
If they let John live, someone else would have done his execution. Their words, with no evidence, wouldn't have been enough. Then, someone else, not people that care about him, would've been his executioner. They would've hated him,not knowing the truth, and John would've felt that at his execution. John wanted this and having people who loved him and knew his innocence around him at the end was the best they could've given him, seeing as how he didn't want to be let go.
Great reaction. I think Percy is one of the most vile and hated characters ever created. Yes John was innocent, but in the 1930's there was no DNA testing to prove his innocence. John does say he is tired. This is one of my favorite movies, and when they carry out the death sentence for John, it gets me every time.
Mice and rats are adorable and pretty smart, they only live 3-5 years. I could only ever own one once because the heartbreak was too much for such little time with them 😢
This movie takes place primarily in the 1930s, antibiotics like penicillin weren't widely available until the 1940s. So Paul would probably just have been admitted to a hospital for a while while they let out run its course.
Trey no indoor bathroom but also no antibiotics in 1930s ,fine film ,great story the cast do a great job telling it ,especially Michael Clarke Duncan but Doug Hutchison [Percy] and Sam Rockwell [Wild Bill] are two of the worst/best baddies I've ever seen, they both give outstanding performances.
"Get some antibiotics". Well, although penicilline was discovered in 1928, antibiotics was not really an available thing to have around in the 1930s. It was only around 1940 that they were widespread -saving many lives in WW2. But in deep America's 1935, Hank's character was quite FU, medically speaking.

1. Most people CRY 2. Dabbs Greer/old Paul was ill during production, so his part was done later. He also played Reverend Alden on "Little House on the Prairie". 3. Hammersmith was not a good lawyer. 4. In the book King briefly covers why the Chief and Del are on death row. 5. This movie was nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Best Cast but unfortunately neither won.😭😭 6. Players in other King adaptations: Jeffery DeMunn: Shawshank Redemption, The Mist, Storm of the Century and William Sadler: Shawshank Redemption, The Mist. David Morse: The Langoliers. Patricia Clarkson played Margarat White in King's remake of "Carrie". Needless to say, it was a much different part. 7. Goof: Electricity makes the body contract. Del wouldn't be able to scream. I know it' just for the movie because of the length of the execution scene. 8. IRL James Cromwell is a vegan and didn't want to grill meat for the BBQ scene but was told that in 1935 people actually ate meat so he agreed to have some on the grill. 9. RE Percy: Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. KARMA's a Bitch. BTW Kudos to Doug Hutchison for the great job of playing Percy.👌 10. A little fun fact: Toot Toot the trustee is played by Harry Dean Stanton.(RIP) The other guards' names are Harry Terwilliger/Jeffery DeMunn and Dean Stanton/Barry Pepper. 11. IRL both David Morse and James Cromwell are about the same height as Michael Clark Duncan (RIP). They used planks, a small bed and smaller chair along with trick photography to make John taller. 12 The scene where John takes Mr. Jingles for safe keeping before Del's execution, they used a real mouse, and it pooped on Paul's shoulder and he brushed it off. 13. There was only 2 option here for John. 1,. Let John suffer against his will and let him continue living. 2. Let him suffer for a few minutes and than all of his suffering ends and he’s at peace, the second option was John’s will and that’s something people should never go against!

Up to the individual. Oh yeah!!! When watching the movie…… didn’t the light from the projector look like aura of a halo?!!!!! Yes, I think so every time I watch.

He’s a heeler He wants to die because he can see and feel all the bad that happens in the world everyday and he’s tired and wants to escape so although he is innocent, he still wants to die to escape the pain in his head and heart And they didn’t want to kill him but he wanted to die so that’s the only reason they went through with it because that’s what he wanted
Read the book cause the book give more details about everyone that was on death row and the prison guards. Now, as early as the 1930, there was nothing to do and being a prison guard on death row a person gets excited about the smallest things cause what else can they do while waiting for someone to fuck up. Tom Banks is my favorite in the movie. And some black people back than didn't know how to read or write
Thats how its done. You dont see Hollywood procuding these type of movies anymore. Its less about the product and more about the money in todays market.
There were no slaves in 1935. Those were the prisoners. That's why the black and white striped clothes. And the prison system would probably be a lot better these days if the criminals could still be sentenced to hard labor. It would certainly make more of a point than letting them work out in the gym and watch TV all day.
Nah I knew they weren’t slaves lol, I was just being stupid 😂. But yeah you’re right, hard labor would definitely keep the prisons empty. Thanks for watching , Appreciate you!!

Well, saying he was trying to bring two dead girls to life because he is a healer wouldn't fly to get him off death row. Forensics wasn't advanced enough in the thirties to clear him either. Since God knows all, he knew how John Coffey would end up.
I’m not sure if you’re a reader but you should try the book! It’s almost parallel to the movie. This is a great example of book to movie. Also, Percy has little man syndrome in real life lol he’s a child predator
Don't feel bad about loving Wild Bill he's my favorite character. He was hysterical. " I'm currently cooking up some turds I'll have them ready for you tomorrow." 😂😂
The book was inspired by the true story of George Tilley Jnr who was wrongly convicted of the rape and murder of two little white girls back in 1930's. It's a truly tragic case as this v small, skinny simple minded black boy in the south who was actually working on the family farm at the time of the murders but due to corruption within the police department they just wanted someone to pay and they chose him beating him till he signed a confession. It took a all white jury 6 hours to find him guilty. They isolated him from his family the whole time he was in prison so no doubt the poor child died believing that they didn't love him anymore however that could not be further from the truth because even generations later kept fighting for his name and finally because of the innocence project he was exonerated in the 2000's. ( the book was written before that was proved) Stephen King said they made that little boy into this monstrous man. He did say that Michael Clarke Duncan was like the living inbodiment of John Coffey as tho v big and scary looking he was a truly gentle ,kind soul. Michael Clarke Duncan actually used the pain of his father leaving when he was a child to bring out the tears and crying. May M.C. Duncan rest in peace truly gone way too soon as his career had really only just begun.
Lmfaoooooo welp We, the LGBTQ+ community, do NOT claim Percy. That thing is NOT part of our community 😩🤌🏽 Amazing reaction, def subscribing. I love this movie, but it's too sad, I've only seen it once. I recommend Train to Busan! ❤
Please dont be shy of crying or let your feelings show. I'm a grown ass man. I m crying. And i can get a grin from anyone. In the spiritual world, the machoman understand how is the fool.
I get that everyone in the comments is "John wanted to die" but this was an addition they made for the movie. The book is far darker at his execution "John's eyes turned to me. I saw no resignation in them, no hope of heaven, no dawning peace. How I would love to tell you that I did. How I would love to tell myself that. What I saw was fear, misery, incompletion, and incomprehension. They were the eyes of a trapped and terrified animal." In the book it's stated more clearly Paul did the wrong thing and his age IS undoubtedly his punishment
Dale rap'd a woman and trued to cover it uo with a fire. But the fire went wrong, caught an apartment building on fire and unalived like 7 or 8 more people.
If Paul and the other guards had refused to carry out the execution, another group of guards would have been found to take their place. They couldn't have gotten John a new trial; they had no proof that could be believed without being seen. John's nature made it basically impossible for him to testify on his own behalf. And if they had let him escape, he would have been caught and executed, anyway.
There was really no choice. They could have let him run away, but he would have never been able to hide out, and they would have them been felons also. There would have been no way to prove his innocence. It was a no win innocence, so leaving the choice to John was really the best thing in the circumstance. I think if he would have wanted to run, He probably would have let him. Just a bit deeper.. JC are his initials.. ie: the same as Jesus Christ. Prophets and the true miracles of God are often not that compatible with worldly realities. Jesus, the perfect being, was crucified as a criminal, as was John.. they both were here to bring healing to the world. Stephen King had a few stories that included religious themes.
I cry when I watch this and I just want be like the guards once they knew he was not the one who killed the girls. I just wanted him to feel the love in my heart for his character. Michael Clarke Duncan such a awesome actor, God rest his soul. ❤❤❤❤😊

I would’ve just quit man. Couldn’t be responsible for letting John fry. Especially having to sit and watch it. 😔
@@Teereacts11 But John wanted to go. You're proud for not letting out any tears. I'm a fan of sad movies. If I cry at a movie, I'd never feel shame as a man. It was a great success. There's no other emotion that makes you feel your heart and your soul. Afterwards, you take a deep breath and find yourself at peace with the world.
Indeed, Louisiana was Democrat run, and just like today they passed all kinds of racist laws while trying to accuse everyone else. No way things would turn out well. 😢
Difference is today they claim they are doing it for people's own good, while looking down on them and hurting the community under the guise of "help".
John was absorbing Dail's pain during his execution. That is why he was shaking and the mouse ran away. It was also why he was so tired afterwards . Also, he is not stupid, dumb or slow. They have him acting that way to make him appear innocent, pure.... childlike.
He's 100% slow.
@@sundaedabberWhat made you come to that conclusion?
In 1935 there was no effective treatment for a UTI . Penicillin did not come into general use for a couple or so more years .
Percy and "Commodus" from the movie Gladiator most hated characters ever in my book. The warden in Shawshank gets honorable mention.
I definitely cried on this one first time I saw it many years ago.
John wanted to die though, he was broken from all the suffering in the world.
i cry every time, its such a sad movie, its the love in my heart that makes me hurt
Mice and rats are adorable and pretty smart, they only live 3-5 years. I could only ever own one once because the heartbreak was too much for such little time with them 😢
Michael Clarke Duncan was 6’5” the same size as David Morse (Brutal) but by using risers and camera angles it made him appear bigger.
He was probably wearing Herman Munster shoes. 6 inch thick soles . Suddenly , he is about 7 feet tall.
He stood on Apple crates
This movie is a masterpiece!
From an amazing storyteller
I've seen a lot of reactions to this movie over the years. This commentator is the winner in the categories prejudice and racism.
Thanks man , love you too 🤍
This movie takes place primarily in the 1930s, antibiotics like penicillin weren't widely available until the 1940s. So Paul would probably just have been admitted to a hospital for a while while they let out run its course.
"God send us his miracle, his angel, and we killed him."
I heard someone said this and it shook me. This move was something.
Michael Clarke Duncan was actually 6'5. They used an elevated path just for him to walk on and look extremely tall.
Im Back Bro. Love you
"Get some antibiotics". Well, although penicilline was discovered in 1928, antibiotics was not really an available thing to have around in the 1930s. It was only around 1940 that they were widespread -saving many lives in WW2. But in deep America's 1935, Hank's character was quite FU, medically speaking.
I’m 48 year old white guy. I’ve had a whole lot of “reactors” in my short stay but (being 💯 honest here) yours is the most honest and genuine I’ve ever seen my friend!!!! I hope your subscribers explode in popularity 👍👍👍.
I appreciate your kind words bro !!! I’ll keep pushing out genuine content ! Thanks for your support man 💪🏾
1. Most people CRY
2. Dabbs Greer/old Paul was ill during production, so his part was done later. He also played Reverend Alden on "Little House on the Prairie".
3. Hammersmith was not a good lawyer.
4. In the book King briefly covers why the Chief and Del are on death row.
5. This movie was nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Best Cast but unfortunately neither won.😭😭
6. Players in other King adaptations: Jeffery DeMunn: Shawshank Redemption, The Mist,
Storm of the Century and William Sadler: Shawshank Redemption, The Mist. David Morse:
The Langoliers. Patricia Clarkson played Margarat White in King's remake of "Carrie". Needless to say, it was a much different part.
7. Goof: Electricity makes the body contract. Del wouldn't be able to scream. I know it' just for the movie because of the length of the execution scene.
8. IRL James Cromwell is a vegan and didn't want to grill meat for the BBQ scene but
was told that in 1935 people actually ate meat so he agreed to have some on the grill.
9. RE Percy: Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. KARMA's a Bitch. BTW Kudos to Doug Hutchison for the great job of playing Percy.👌
13. Now we know what the "day old is fine" dry toast is for.
14 EVERYBODY cries and has to take time to reflect. Congratulations you just experienced.
the GREATEST MOVIE EVER. (GOAT)
15. 4 words for you: Stephen King. You're WELCOME!
Thanks for all these facts bro ! Appreciate you sharing them with me!
He also had a small role in Con-Air hiding under the truck with Nic Cage!
If you want a "try not to cry" challenge (and you love dogs), you'll never make it through "Hachi" starring Richard Gere. Guaranteed.
A man wandering the land, helping and healing those in need. Calls God, "The Father". Wrongly put to death while a group of people watched. The man's initials are J.C.
Nice reaction, you should try another movie from Stephen King and Frank Darabont, it is called, The Mist", they also did "Shawshank Redemption"
This movie can make you wonder how long John Cofy walked earth
Not "Give it back" but "TAKE it back" .. Not "Dumb" but "Innocent" .. enough with the sexual inuendos man, no one is thinking that but you.. 😂😂 and yes we all know what "community" you're referring too, not that it matters my guy.. 🤷 you're a funny man, nice reaction, looking forward to more from you!..
There was only 2 option here for John. 1,. Let John suffer against his will and let him continue living. 2. Let him suffer for a few minutes and than all of his suffering ends and he’s at peace, the second option was John’s will and that’s something people should never go against!
He was just one out of many John Coffeys back in those days.Good reaction.
Good reaction bro this is one of my favorite movies I hope you continue doing reactions because sooner or later people will start watching more and more
Appreciate you bro fr 🙏🏾 ! Yeah I’m definitely going to continue!
@@Teereacts11 The biggest thing is being consistent look around and see what other movies people are reacting to that’s popular and getting a lot of views you have a cool personality, so I’m sure you will get better at it just stay consistent I will subscribe and check out more of your content.
I’ve heard many things of what John was in reactions. I have yet to hear the word I think……. An angel. One line was “it’s like he dropped from the sky”. Foreshadowing or symbolism? Up to the individual. Oh yeah!!! When watching the movie…… didn’t the light from the projector look like aura of a halo?!!!!! Yes, I think so every time I watch.
I always cry in this movie. especially with John
I love watching people watch movies too. So happy I found your channel, cause you are hilarious AND insightful! Roll out some more Bro, you shine at this😎
Hey I like your selection, but the language...woah.
He’s a heeler
He wants to die because he can see and feel all the bad that happens in the world everyday and he’s tired and wants to escape so although he is innocent, he still wants to die to escape the pain in his head and heart
And they didn’t want to kill him but he wanted to die so that’s the only reason they went through with it because that’s what he wanted
John Coffey was an empath, a telepath, and a healer.
Biggest travesty ever that he didn’t get the Oscar! RIP to a BEAUTIFUL man. 😢
The mouse actually won the Oscar that year for Best Supporting Actor..... look it up‼️
This is one of the best movies I've ever seen. All the performances we amazing.x
I always felt he was to appear innocent and empathic. Also I think the mouse was interesting because they are bored as duck.
Melinda said, "We met each other in the dark." John is always wandering in the dark. That`s why he hates so much, when it's dark.
Think about Johns initials and it ads another dimension to the story.
How can you NOT cry at this film?
Thats how its done. You dont see Hollywood procuding these type of movies anymore. Its less about the product and more about the money in todays market.
The way JC talked was like his own way to communicate because of the limited education he was raised in.
Nah you’re right ! There’s literally no way to prove his innocence. I just couldn’t have been the one to kill JC. Appreciate your insight ! 😊
I’m not sure if you’re a reader but you should try the book! It’s almost parallel to the movie. This is a great example of book to movie.
Also, Percy has little man syndrome in real life lol he’s a child predator
Yes, he is. He is no better than his character Percy.
Even played a child abuser in a time to kill
Don't feel bad about loving Wild Bill he's my favorite character. He was hysterical. " I'm currently cooking up some turds I'll have them ready for you tomorrow." 😂😂
LMAO that was my fav line by him
The book was inspired by the true story of George Tilley Jnr who was wrongly convicted of the rape and murder of two little white girls back in 1930's.
Appreciate this insight bro. I had no idea !!
Aww, he's not dumb. He's completely innocent, not just of the crime, but in general. He's naive because he's so pure. Enjoyed your reaction
Lmfaoooooo welp
We, the LGBTQ+ community, do NOT claim Percy. That thing is NOT part of our community 😩🤌🏽
Amazing reaction, def subscribing. I love this movie, but it's too sad, I've only seen it once. I recommend Train to Busan! ❤
😂😂😂 I’m gonna put Train to busan on my list ! Thanks for the sub!!
@@Teereacts11 YAY!!!!!!!
Bruce Willis discovered Michael Clarke Duncan working construction in Chicago i think. He was about 6 foot 5.
Please dont be shy of crying or let your feelings show. I'm a grown ass man. I m crying. And i can get a grin from anyone. In the spiritual world, the machoman understand how is the fool.
I get that everyone in the comments is "John wanted to die" but this was an addition they made for the movie. The book is far darker at his execution
"John's eyes turned to me. I saw no resignation in them, no hope of heaven, no dawning peace. How I would love to tell you that I did. How I would love to tell myself that. What I saw was fear, misery, incompletion, and incomprehension. They were the eyes of a trapped and terrified animal."
In the book it's stated more clearly Paul did the wrong thing and his age IS undoubtedly his punishment
Steven King wrote this
Dale rap'd a woman and trued to cover it uo with a fire. But the fire went wrong, caught an apartment building on fire and unalived like 7 or 8 more people.
A Stephen King masterpiece. Great performances! ❤this movie
You know, bro, there are still prisons in the South that make you do manual labor, especially in places like Louisiana
Oh wow really ? Imma look them up, that’s crazy to me.
@@Teereacts11prisoners should work
There was really no choice.
I am NOT proud of you for not crying. A real man shows emotion.
Enjoyed your reaction. Glad I found your channel.👍
one of the only films i ever sat and watched in the theater without ever getting up to use the bathroom.
they didn't let him die. they had no alternatives.he had been convicted but still paul offered to let him go, but john want to end it.
Hope you like the movie ❤I watch it every time it’s on😵💫
I cry when I watch this and I just want be like the guards once they knew he was not the one who killed the girls. I just wanted him to feel the love in my heart for his character. Michael Clarke Duncan such a awesome actor, God rest his soul. ❤❤❤❤😊
I appreciate your authenticity man. I like how you admit if youve seen a movie already that someone suggests. A lot of reactors lie and pretend they haven't seen a movie because they know a particular movie will bring them a lot of views. Your a real one bro. F the haters i thought you did awesome, you dont put on an act you just watch the film the same way you would if you were by yourself. I subscribed to you.
Appreciate you bro !! Thank for the support !
Hey Trey I just subscribed. Love your reaction. What I like the most is that you have the words that describe what you're thinking you're feeling typed on the screen. That's a very effective way of showing how you reacting without talking too much. I hope that makes sense.
The only one that could have stop the execution was the governor aka Percy's uncle.
R.I.P Michael Clark Duncan/John Coffey
Who knew Stephen King(horror novel king) could write such an amazing story. John Coffey was an empathic healer, that is why he felt Dales execution. There is never a time i see this movie and not cry my eyes out at the end
Instead of the peach rings you need to try Haribo Peach Gummies
I watched a video on how they did this. The 'John Coffey' character walked/stood on an elevated platform for him to appear taller.
Going to watch your reaction now but don't write off The Godfather. It's a classic and must watch even if it didn't rate high in your poll. The Green Mile is also a great movie. One of the best of Stephen King's novels to become a movie. Hours well spent with both movies. And also high recommend Dances with Wolves. Thank you.
I've seen this movie hundreds of times and I was gonna hate your reaction but I kept watching to see if you changed my ❤️ and you did. It's an amazing movie and I enjoyed your reaction in the end....better than 6th sense but....😂
Loved your reaction. Thank you.
The late Michael Clarke Duncan who play John Coffey was 6'6" tall. He walked and stood on platforms in the movie to give him extra height.
Gotta love camera angles!
Michael Clarke Duncan was 6'5". The big white guy "Brutal" was 6'4". They used camera angles and scaled things (and everyone else) down to make him look like a giant.
He asked John do you want me to set you free?? John refused, and said he was tired. They are prison guards, They cant change that state mandated orders.
He said “take it back” not give it back. And he’s not dumb. He is pure and good. He has no evil in him. He’s the epitome of innocence.
Ur reactions r so genuine...youll be to 1000 soon ❤❤❤❤
22:00 remember that antibiotics were not widely available yet. The standard treatment for a UTI was to make the body so toxic with sulfa tablets that the bacteria can't survive. Not plesant and potentially worse than the infection in the long term.
Awesome reaction kiddo! Thanks my brah!
Paul said it at the end , he was tired and ready for his life to be over
Another Stephen King masterpiece.
Subbed. Ready for scrolling through to see what else you have
Didn't you realize that he wanted to died. He was tired of being my himself and he was tired of not being able to be with someone. He hated seeing people doing terrible things.
Great reaction. Looking forward to more, Best wishes on your channel. Honest and true. May our Lord and Universe shine the light on you.
