Anthony Hopkins is one of the greats... his film debut was in 'The Lion in Winter' (1968) with Katharine Hepburn and Peter O'Toole- the film is a classic and Hepburn won her 3rd of 4 Oscars for it.
I suppose Hannibal isn't really the "villain" from a storytelling standpoint. He's actually supportive of the protagonist, Clarice. He actually helps her achieve her goal and helps her resolve her most character building childhood trauma. But that character is sooo evil and Anthony Hopkins does such a good job of portraying him. Actually all of the acting in this is superb. Much better than you'd expect from a horror film and certainly award worthy. By the way, I think when Lecter told Senator Martin that he loved her suit he already knew Buffalo Bill was trying to make a suit out of her daughter. I think he was shooting for a little irony to come back to her later if her daughter was found too late. A psychologist as a villain is terrifying. This was originally a series of books and the movies led to a TV series about Hannibal. The character is based on a combination of several actual serial killers.
A psychologist as a villain is actually terrifying when I really think about it . You’re so right though, he wasn’t even the main antagonist , I think it was Bill. Thanks for your support !!!!
Best movie of all times man, Ted levine as Buffallo Bill is the most scary character than i ever seen in my life, and he did it without masks or make up, and that aply for lecter to, absolutly amazing performances
the year it swept the Oscars- Picture, Director, Actor, Actress and Screenplay- Billy Cystal was hosting the show- he was wheeled out on stage like Lecture was with the face mask in the scene with the Senator, to open the show.
She is using a car jack, that's how they used to look. When Hannibal kills the guards, Trey: That was the craziest thing I've ever seen. Me: Just wait... Such a great movie.
Clarice was played by Jodie Foster. Foster got her start at age 3- in a Coppertop commercial- she's worked steadily since then (1960s)- she was just nominated for an Oscar last year... She got her first nomination for 1976's 'Taxi Driver' playing a teen prostitute opposite Robert Deniro. In 1981, President Reagan was shot by John Hinckley, who was in love with Jodie and copied the scene from Taxi Driver where De Niro's character attempts to assassinate a politician to get her attention- so Hinckley shot the real President to get the real Jodie's attention. (they never met) She laid low for a couple years after that- graduating from Yale- she came back and won her 2 Oscars in 3 years- 1988's 'The Accused' and 91's 'Silence of the Lambs'.

Red Dragon is a prequel to this and Hannibal is the sequel. both are really good. thanks for posting reaction vids bro. its the closest we can get to watching a film for this first time again. really enjoyed your reaction to this!
This is the latest movie to win all 5 of the big Oscar’s. Best actor, actress, director, picture, and screenplay. Only 3 movies in film history have done that. Hannibal is an incredible villain and the scenes with the two of them together are amazingly done.
He indeed won the Oscar for best actor in 91 for this role. One of our better actors the past 50 years. I saw this Brand new in 91 and the sequel a decade later which I actually prefer. It is so stylish and exciting. Foster didn’t want to do Hannibal in 2000, but they fot Julianne Moore to play Clarice who is at least as good an actress. Hopkins back ss Hannibal which was necessary. Gary Oldmsn as insanely disfigured villain out for revenge on Hannibal who destroyed his life. Amazing sequel. Hope you do it. It’s such a grand movie directed by the dude who did alien and many other classics.
"Love your suit" to me I feel like he is dissing her for taking the time to get her hair blown out, makeup and suit. Instead of throwing on whatever clothes to find your Daughter
This is my first time watching any of your videos, I was like, I dunno if this is gonna be a good reaction, especially if this guy is faded...but actually you understood this movie better than some fully sober reactors! And you're absolutely hilarious. Loved this video, subscribed to your channel! And Silence of the Lambs is actually the middle movie in a series of three. It goes #1 Red Dragon, #2 Silence of the Lambs, and #3 Hannibal (2001). Since you liked this movie, I highly suggest going back to watch Red Dragon, and then finishing with the movie Hannibal. All three star the same actor who played Lecter (Anthony Hopkins).
I recommend you watch the prequel "Manhunter". Avoid the remake called "Red Dragon". manhunter has this eerie suspense too and also you get mixed feelings for the antagonist.
We joke around the fire pit with my crazy cousins & whenever we need something someone says "it places the lotion in the basket "it puts the lotion on its skin or it gets the hose again"
There are moments where you really sound faded, so awesome..the background music and sound effects had me hollering 😂😂😂 very fun reaction ❤ from Louisiana
"Hannibal" is the 2nd movie where it focus more on him and it's alot more brutal but also an amazing film (by the way for this film both got an Oscar, she and him)
The quip about "love your suit." Hannibal was messing with her because she still has time to look good for the cameras and didn't look like a mother worrying for her kid. That's my opinion.
These 16 minutes of screen time essentially made Hopkins' film career. He'd worked in films since the late 60s with such legends as Katherine Hepburn and Lawrence Olivier. But this one iconic performance made him one of the most popular actors in the world. Now 86 and still working, he's a living legend himself. ☺
Both Jody Foster and Anthony Hopkins won Oscars for their portrayal of Hannibal Lecter and Clarice Starling one interesting thing you may not have been aware of not once during the movie were they ever talking or interacting with one another!
Anthony hopkins, one of them rare and dying breed of actors, who had electrifying screen presence, they could captivate an audience with the most simple gestures
Hannibal Lecter is a psychiatrist as well as a psychopath and cannibal. That is why he's so insightful (he also knows exactly who BB is, but he forces her, though his guidance, to figure it out herself). I hate to say it, but I liked Hannibal Lecter too, although I wouldn't want to hang out with him. He DOES have a code, although it's very effed-up. If he finds you interesting, he won't kill you. If he finds you rude, you're toast.
The direct follow-up film is HANNIBAL (2001 with Julianne Moore replacing Jodie Foster as Clarisse). We receive another lesson in Disembowelment, and how it was used in historical context, especially with one particular Italian family. We also are treated to a reminder that, in many of the finest restaurants, meat dishes are flame-cooked at the patron's table.
When you re-watch this, as Hannibal has 'taken care of' the two guards, he reaches down for a small, white penknife. A small sharp blade that can make fine curved cuts... around eyes, ears, nose, lips...
@@Teereacts11 How can fine-dining examples be a spoiler? That's a tease! The meal, by the way, is in no way spoiled - not at all-!! In fact, no one will ever find a fresher cut!

God didn't make our flesh taste bad to animals. 😀It's just that our ancestors systematically hunted to extinction and destroyed all the animals that prayed on humans. There were many animals that ate early humans, but almost all of them were wiped off the face of the planet. 😀
