Hey, i got a monstera deliciosa from a friend and im propagating it rn. Sadly the new leaf is getting brown/black. Any ideas of why its happening? Its really sad since its my first time dealing with something like that and i dont want her to die

It most likely had root rot from over watering/the soil wasn’t draining properly. I’ve had this happen too with my first montera. it’s a really common problem. There are videos available on how to save a monstera from root rot with a towel if it can be saved in time. If the roots are covered in soil are damp black and squishy in texture that’s root rot.

@@Valesews i was propagating it. So no root rot and overwatering i think. Some dude told me it got an infection so i had to cut it and i hope it wasnt the bad option

@@Valesews i just asked on reddit and someone else answered it wouldnt be healthy anyway so i did the right option. I posted some photos and the new leave was really dark.

I hope it grow back in then if you still have the “node” and the roots are good then I hope a new leaf grows in. Mine actually started that way because one of the leaves wasn’t good anymore so I pruned it and I got this huge leaf. It does take time.Goodluck!!!
