I film simultaneously with 30 cameras for around 12 hours when I'm on location. I format each card in camera beforehand. Each camera is numbered and has a pair of numbered cards. Your backup info & carry case info is exactly what I do. Great video!
I'm pissed I got one and have pictures on it but it wolnt let me look at them without formatting it but to do so it says it will delete everything im pissed
I use many cards constantly, I’m not a pro like you but I upload the videos online and delete the files to reuse the cards. Thanks for the better insights. Keep up the good works!
Im shooting & uploading my first video to my UA-cam Channel this week (Woohooooo I'm excited), and this is definitely a helpful tip! I have 10+ videos planned & scheduled at the moment. Even though I'll be transferring the videos straight to my laptop, I'll still need lots of space for my content. Thanks so much! You guys rock!!! 🥰❤
I do not format. Do you get more space if you do? Or is it for better organization? I used to have 2 very different cameras so I was just using the same card and never formatted. 😬
I'm working with some older equipment at the moment, and I've been having trouble with recording stopping randomly in the middle of shooting. From what I've read, it seems that that's an issue with the SD card not being.... fast enough?? Do you all have recommendations for specifications for SD cards for shooting video?
Filmed a whole night and as soon as I plugged my card into my computer half of the files were corrupted and had no info, I’ve been trying to get them back but there is nothing I can do it seems, I didn’t format my card and it was a brand new card and this was the second video shot on it so I’m thinking that had something to do with it
Thanks for the video. My Sony ZV-E10 takes a lot to format the Sandisk Extreme Pro SDXC UHS-I 256GB card... Do you have any idea why? Still waiting, passed 15 mins already... Is that okay? Brand new card and camera.
Incredible advice for work flow! Thanks for sharing (Ps, the Think Media team are legit the Avengers of UA-cam. Each member brings different value and they all share the same vibe with their own personal touch)
So in high school, my parents and I went on a cruise for the first time and took a ton of photos. Like the entire vacation was on one SD card. We get back home and a week later some family friends come and visit. My parents want to show them some photos from the trip. However, the day before our friends came over, I was checking out the camera as to what each option in the menu did (I was just starting to pick up more of interest in photography) and I hit the format button. I don’t know what camera it was, but I don’t even remember it giving a warning sign before erasing all the photos from the cruise AND MORE. Let’s just say it was a bad day for me 😂
I’m so glad I came across this, I was trying to film the other day but it was saying I didn’t have any storage when I had just transferred videos to my laptop. And I just experienced file corruption😩 and I’m a little sad because it was of my baby talking. But now I know to format before I do anything!
I didn’t know about formatting and now have an sd card that is basically its own being. I can edit the files on the sd card, but any copies of it are corrupted and I can’t use them. And I don’t want to lose those photos, just I had to just get a new sd card. I’ve just watched this video now so I know how to save my future work 😂 I took some cool pictures today and would be absolutely crushed if I lost them Thank you for the clarity
Not sure what is going on with my camera man. 700D, brand new sd card showing, that the card cannot be access... I tried all that removing lens battery etc yet still nothing
so my sd card is cool. has enough space.. BUT im trying to select my videos on my macbook. and the dates are super old now for some reason. i recorded the other day, but it says jan 2017.. everything on there is old and its bothering me lol
I am not sure because I am confused about formatting. I had bought a second hand Sony camera. Should I insert a new memory card, then set daylight savings, date/time and format the memory card. Until it is full and then images are transferred to my computer. Should I delete the images? After inserting it into the camera again, should I format it again. Am I right?
I recently started having an issue where I film video on my GH2 and can only view the new footage on the camera itself. There are never any new files when I try to view the same footage on my laptops with the SD Card I’ve been using for years. I haven’t changed any settings on the camera either. Im assuming there is some sort of file corruption from what I understand. Not exactly sure whats going on here. I bought a new card though and will format as described here. Thanks
I did a 11 day trip to Nepal and when I got home and put my card in my laptop none of my over 400 photos showed. Lucky with a recovery software download I got about 95% of them back so now I drop them the same day.
I have a new microSDXC UHS-1 Card with adapter that i just installed in my new DVC 2.7K IR that says, "unsupported file system do you want to format?" Is that normal or is it something else? Thanks.
Hi! I have a canon rebel T1i, I bought a Sandisk 128GB SD card. When i put the card in, it says “card cannot be accessed, reinsert the card/format to the camera.” So I end to format it, it’s just says “cannot format, change card” is this SD card to new for this, or what’s your insight?
My NEW UA-cam Channel is about to launch my first video this week, and I owe a LOT of thanks to Think Media. I owe a LOT of what I've learned to the amazing people over at Think Team. Im not kissing your butt or anything - I am very serious. I kept rubbing into setbacks, so in the meantime, while I was fixing & adjusting things, I watched a ton of Think Media's videos. Now, I'm actually GLAD that I had those setbacks! If I didn't have the setbacks, then this first video im about to shoot wouldn't be anywhere near as good as it's giv to be! ;) I cannot even explain to you how much & in how many ways you guys have helped me learn SO MUCH about shooting videos, equipment advice & recommendations, what to do & what not to do, loads of tips & tricks, and a ton of other information that I didn't even know about (or did but didn't what the @$#& I was doing)! I learned sooo many things that I REALLY needed to hear/learn before I started shooting. Now, I feel so much more confident, I'm well-equipped with knowledge & I'm 100% ready to begin uploading videos (that I have planned out) on my Channel. I just want to thank you all so much. Question. I own a Lumix DMC-FZ300, I started with a 128 gb card but i didn't i had to format the card. (Beginner), So, i recorded a video for my channel and i noticed the video was recorded in Clips. Not what i expected, How can i fix this minor problem so my camera wont record in clips?
Different devices & different filming applications as well as the available budget determines which type & brand of card to use. Talk to a pro who does exactly what you want to do, and learn from them.
@@1Nolimited The adapter option will work, but not as well as the SD card. Different brands have different write speeds etc. I've been using Transcend for years & they're fine for full HD filming. I tried to format my SD memory card on my Kodak Pizpro FZ53 and all it would do is buffer. I tried to turn off the camera and it would not turn off. It continued doing this until the battery died. What could be the problem? It's the same brand card I've used before, but with a much larger capacity.
