People who watch this channel obviously don't have the destroy sh*t gene. I watch because I like to see things restored and treated properly. I personally find it abhorrent to not take care of something l worked hard to buy. You've laid out a rich buffet of comment potential and then tell us not to say anything! I am so conflicted😂
I ride this model of Propel and can say, even with good dry climate, and regular maintenance, guiding the cables through the frame is a pain in the butt. Good on you for treating the Propel properly, it's a solid and fast frame but needs a lot of love and patience.
In all honesty it's great to see such a well used bike. Epic rebuild and Lee even had time for a haircut! Well done Simon in the editing, it looks absolutely seemless and we would have known otherwise.
Thats what I was thinking - maybe the owner did neglect it but damn, it looks like they rode the hell out of that thing and at the end of the day, thats what they're for - they're tools.
I notice how clean all Your tools & how You arrange the syringes of lubes and oil like a laboratory, the time and effort You put for Your workshop is SUPERB!!!
This is one of my favorite and I haven’t missed one since I subscribed. This was complicated but laid out so perfectly that I learned a lot. Thank you!!
This was the best video because of the state of the bike, and as you said, it's almost a restoration rather than a service. Great watch. Love to see well-used bikes given new life.
One of your best jobs yet.... you made that bike better than new....I can only imagine how the customer reacted and how that first ride will feel for them
You said it best, Lee…this is an epic rebuild. Everything was replaced on this bike, and it needed to be. Excellent work, and a special thanks to Simon for his edit as well. Thanks for taking the time to make these bikes roadworthy and safe. This service was worth the wait!! 😊
wow what difference to this bike. it is like a new bike and will ride better than the day it came out of the factory. great work guys and great to see this project finished after such a large amount of time filming.
The before and after rides on this would have been like night and day, it was proper knackered! going from those warn out pedals to new ones would of felt like riding a new bike alone. You guys do great work!
And in the uk a winter season near the sea can do a number on a bike.. this isn't years of not taking care, probably a single season of just doing basic maintenance and enjoying the bike
Great job, very professional, it's always hard to deal with rusty parts on a bike. I wonder whether the bottom bracket is ok, and even the inside of the seat post. I always pay attention that the seat post don't get stuck with time. Looks like a new bike at the end!
Crikey, what a basket case, but also what a transformation! If you're not mechanically inclined it's easy to let these issues build up. I'd love to be able to sort all the problems on such a quality piece of kit, so no negativity from me. ♥️ Top draw workmanship as always 👏💪
A superb turnaround for this bike 👏. Chapeau to all of the team at Bikespeeds. Your patience and perseverance have been rewarded. One greatful owner, I'm sure 👍
Im just a fan of ur "grease, light oil, heavy oil, anti seize, locktite" usage.u truely understand where and why to apply those stuff..some mechanics nowadays just take it for granted, just make the bike look bling, but put wrong stuff on wrong area with unnecessary amount which can cause even more damage to the frame (which unreplaceable) in long terms..chapeau sir for ur brilliant job and the narration..ur vids not just entertaining, but more important-educative.thanks from japan❤
What a systematic thorough job that was. Nice to see a bike that has been seriously used to the points of being almost inoperable but then in your hands it ends up better than new. Shout out to Simon for the editing, your videos are well produced, instructive and enjoyable.
Just a tip with the carbon fiber bikes spraying the degreaser directly into the frame depending on what is in it can be a very bad thing as if its strong enough it will eat through the glue/epoxy holding all the different layers together, Great restoration!
Wow. What a transformation. If I have not watched and enjoyed the video I would have said you just replaced the whole bike for a new one. Amazing job and so relaxing to watch, a pleasure to watch you work your magic with such detail and care. ❤
You said it all at minute 10:00 - it's a full restoration. And a great one! Most people give up on bikes if they reach this state, but you prove that they are perfectly capable of running again in a wonderful state. I'm glad I saved this video for my sunday noon belgian beer time. Wishing you the best and wishing the customer much joy on a gem of a bike. Cheers! 🚲
Well done! This just makes me glad I'm not a shop mechanic anymore! I cannot stand working on internally routed bikes! On an externally routed road bike this would have taken 1/4 the time!
Wow !, what a job. I find it hard to beleive, how someone with a nice bike, can let it go to disarray . Get that owner on a maintenance schedule with you folks . Thanks. KB
Hello guys, you did a great job again, best entertainment for me as always. As you said: no negativity in the comments, that condition, sometimes more to do, sometimes less, is question of respect to everybody’s self control. Greetings from Germany and I will be here again next week 👍🍀🌞
Wow, that bike must have seen many roads! My 10 years old crappy MTB never failed so hard as this one, not because i put any care in it, but because I didn't really ride it that much It's sort of a joy to see some parts wearing out for use and abuse
I have to say being an ex bike mechanic myself you did do an excellent job .Goin the extra mile with certain things like copper grease , full torque, nice .
fantastic video, really enjoyed that. It is somewhat therapeutic watching the transformation. I sometimes wish you would take slightly longer over the videos and this one was that bit longer - and all the better for it in my eyes. Great work!
I have almost this exact bike. Getting this insight into what kind of work goes into servicing this bike really makes one appreicate the craftsmanship that goes into this. Awesome!
Most frames with regular internal routing don't run this way. They usually enter around the head tube area (but not through the headset assembly) and down tube for shift lines.
I always enjoy your videos with a cup of coffee! That bike definitely was ran into the ground. But you guys worked your magic on it, and brought it back to life! Better than new even.
I will admit I was a little taken aback you didn’t torque the pedals at first. Such a relief to see you properly torque them at the end 😁. Great job guys!
Brilliant as usual .. I'm from an engineering background and appreciate your expertise. The editing it top dollar well done guys its theraputic to me keep it up ❤
Super video, I know the pain of galvanised cables rusting. The problem with concealed cables is it makes simple maintenance so tricky compared to open cables. Amazing lubrication details learnt a lot
Top quality work by Simon keeping up with this rebuild for our viewing pleasure. Good job as always on the getting the bike done right for the customer. Great stuff lads!
This is a well used bike, like my Giant Contend SL1 Disc 2021. The attention to detail and care shown in this video, is of the usual Bikespeeds high standard. As I said before, great video.
Wow epic video and phenomenal job editing and bringing it all together Simon. Lee, your attention to detail and care for each and everyone of the bikes that's go through I amazing a sets the scene for other bike shops and hope they are taking note. This must have been sooooo satisfying for both you and the owner. Excellent job 🎉
Another belter from you guys! Really enjoyed the watch. Some of Simon's camera work now is on a different level to last year, when I first started watching your vids, and I though it was good then! Well done fellas.
I have this model Propel. Those brakes are such a pain, the rear needed servicing at least twice a year! Rides lovely though and super fast. Great job!
@@Bikespeeds My mechanic installed a plastic sleeve over the cable that goes about 4 inches into the top tube. This fixed it as well as anything but still eventually the cable gets corroded.
Gosh. We should all watch this and make a note to self about regular maintenance and servicing. Some of the points of failure would have been dangerous and a video like this necessary for us all. I have my bike stripped back annually and take off and clean the chain and cassette every couple of weeks. You get used to it. Very well presented video also. Best video yet Lee and Simon... brilliant to watch the bike come to life again. Its like brand new. Definitely the best one you have done. Look forward to Wednesday's for the videos. Wish I stayed closer so I could use you to service bike regularly....keep up the good work boys
Had a bike in today with similar problems with the brakes. The metal cable ends coroded to the tabs in the frame. Also the steel brake cable rusted solid. And as always great job to save this bike
New subscriber here... I restore old bikes as a hobby and have learned a few things thanks to your generosity. Great video, also a good guide to understand te technical details of a service like this. Would be great to see the reaction of the customer when he/she gets the bike back,

Good shout. Negative comments just so unnecessary

Great job. I think the state of this bike highlights how important it is to get your bike regularly serviced especially on a bike this expensive

A lot of cabling is the answer lol🧡

Well done Simon!
Nicely done hope the person really appreciated your work
I don't usually comment, but this was a fantastic job by yourselves, very satisfying to watch the turnaround..😊

Wow guys you out did yourselves on this one. Another well used bike is new again. Keep the videos coming they are much appreciated. Cheers 🇨🇦
New one hopefully tomorrow! Thanks for the support again🧡
Epic, yes. Probably not all internal cable bikes are like this, but makes me so glad I have no internal cables on my bikes...
Most frames with regular internal routing don't run this way. They usually enter around the head tube area (but not through the headset assembly) and down tube for shift lines.
We still preference external cables for ease of use!🧡
Brand new bike after service, great job👍
Thank you!🧡
I always enjoy your videos with a cup of coffee!
