Great demo/tutorial. I have had this pedal for a few months now. You content gave me some new ideas what to do with it. Especially dig the outro you played. Tschuss!
Well done. Succinct. Isolated, and demonstrated the effect nicely by systematically working through the controls. Nice to see a review not dripping with egomaniacal pompousness. Like the Deep Purple tribute and the Batman effect! Thanks!
All round very, very helpful tips. I am contemplating buying the bass9 to compliment my drum machine. Being primarily a HB player, it is good to know that I am best switching to SC when using this pedal. Thank you for posting and greetings from Down Under.
Thanks for this thorough demo! I very much loved the sound of a lot of what the pedal does…and then you did the test with Kemper off, and that made the pedal sound a lot more like the Boss OC-5. So now I‘m not sure if I will get the EHX based on sound, alone. As far as features go, the Boss seems potentially better for my use, which is for adding bass to an acoustic guitar, and being able to dial in exactly what frequencies I want to be tracked to bass, and above what frequency I don‘t want that to happen because of playing chords and melody lines along with the bass notes. As you pointed out, the EHX has a „split bass“ mode that appears to do something like that, but it looks less adjustable, and may not work well with my acoustics, which are always tuned down to standard D or standard C#, meaning the bass notes I need are even lower octaves than usual. Or can the EHX be adjusted to, for example, track bass on the low E and A strings tuned down a whole step or so?
i thought i would try mine with a mandolin, sounds wicked and saves having to carry a big bass or guitar. and the looks on peoples faces is so worth it.
I could use that if I had loop performances of the part played underneath the solo, but a click would have to be used or be skilled at capturing the section to be played underneath on the spot. Tricky. But, I see the potential.
i am not convinced about my actual pedal, a mooer pitch shifter, it sounds decent but too much latency. now i have e good alternative to play a a la white stripes. we are a trio where the only music comes from my guitar and i have to mimic the bass.
Great demo, but I personally want this to add a bass line into looping through a standard guitar amp. Guessing most people wouldn’t have the luxury of a specific bass amp, so the kemper ampeg model for 98% of the video is giving a much better result than most people could hope to achieve
Currently I don't own a bass. The thing is the pedal tunes your bass at least on octave down which is pretty low. But give it a try - I assume it will work only if you use an octaver to tune your bass one octave up and then run into the BASS9.
Really struggling to find any videos that go into a little more detail on the setting two where you can use control 1 to play with the pitch. Obviously I’m looking at this for the bass side. But as someone who is interested in a drop tune too... can it imitate what the digitech drop does by dropping by half a step for a number of different tuning... and if so how good would the ehx keep up with the digi tech drop considering the ehx is built mainly for simulating a bass and that the digi tech drop is designed to be a pedal exclusively for dropping your tuning by half step at a time from standard E tuning until you reach a full octave down ? Great video by the way , you made a great demo !
Sorry, I don't have a Digitech laying around for comparison. But you definitely have some tone loss because it's mainly built to emulate a bass. It's also noticeable even if no pitch change is dialed in.
@@RockGuitarVibes no worries mate. I appreciate your time to reply. I think I’m going to go with the bass9 just purely on a fake bass tone to fill in the void with future creations. I was thinking about buying a bass but the bass9 means I wouldn’t have to switch out guitars and I don’t have all that much room to store . I’m thinking of using my a buffered ABY to split my signal and have one path go off to the 1st input of the new quad cortex coming and the bass9 on the other split to go into the 2nd input of it with bass amp and cab modelling enabled . It will save switching out guitars for a bass for now and if it doesn’t work out I can just sell the pedal and get a proper bass. I hope it works out at least. Love your content by the way !

Thanks. Interesting demo. As far as I'm concern, I don't see this pedal as imitating a real bass actually. It's more a creative pedal with amazing sounds. The music at the end sounds a bit like Prince :-D

I would actually love to see a review dripping with egomaniacal pompousness, that sounds hilarious.

Grossartiges Review,, ausführlich und mit vielen Details. Vielen Dank. Besser lässt sich ein Review kaum machen.
Thanx for the superb review! The "Sound in the Mix" section is technically unbeliavebly great and even creative and funny as well!
Thanks a lot for the positive feedback 🎸🙏
Nice review. Great demo at the end. More should do that.
Thanks a lot.
This looks like a super fun pedal, thanks for the review!
Yeah, and pretty handy too!

great informative video thanks for sharing
Excellent usefull creation...a super product 👍🏼
I like that a Kemper bass amp profile was used. I might get one and demo it through my Ampeg SVT 200-T.

It's very good explication , Très bonne vidéo Merci ! Thank You !
Great vid...appreciate nod to Black Night!
gona get one to go with my RC10R
Thats what im doing best bass pedal ive heard for looping
Ha Ha Ha,,, I love your light hearted style of video production
... especially those cats falling asleep until required to play at the end music piece

I wonder how this will work with a piezo pickup?
Me too - maybe I'll post another video.
it works great
Does this have a low pass filter? I wish this pedal picked up only the lowest note out of a chord like the OC-5.
See Mode 7 - Split Bass at 14:01
How is the latency? Any tag or any latency issue?
There's no latency issue with this pedal.
Hi, would you recommend this or a Boss Sy 200?
Unfortunately I don't own a SY200 - however, based on my experience with the SY1000 I would prefer the BASS9 for bass tones.

It can be used on an acoustic guitar
Yes ofc
Would this pedal work if you just run a bass thru it to get all those great
effects?

Works but sounds really muddy ;)

Yea it’s a temporary solution ... I’ll either get a bass or better yet join a band with a bass player !

EHX keeping up the shoddy work, still putting awful buffers in their pedals instead of offering true bypass.

But... you will blow your guitar amp speakers if you attempt to use in a live setting with a band.
U sure about that? I’ve used octave pedals no prob
