Ths is a DIY video about a rotating guitar stand for six guitars. Learn what's required and watch me where I struggle to make it work. Guthrie Govan's Charvel got a YJM pickup!
Hi. Line out, I own a Soldano SLO 30 with a Line out, sound is good into the daw with an IR inside, but i want to know if there is a difference with a load Box, since Load Box receives amplifier signal from speaker outlet. Any Information about it? thanks in advance.
The line level is taken from the power amp output which is a good thing - means with your preferred cabinet connected and an IR you'll get the best result at a certain volume level. With a loadbox, the amp can be used in silent mode at any amp volume, but the result will not be necessarily better.
Looking forward to seeing you back in there soon. Good luck with the rebuild
Thanks a lot 🙏 almost reached next level of my studio and then this sh**! Anyway - I'll be back 😎
BEST OF LUCK!!!!
Thanks a lot 🙏😎🎸
@@RockGuitarVibes your amp load box series was amazing . I ended up with a used OXBOX at a great price+ I was able to rent one for awhile first . The BOSS was not rentable but for now I’m super happy. Tx for all your hard work and carry on bros!
@@JohnFraserFindlay True, currently you can get the OX box for little money - especially on the second hand market, so you get a lot of high end stuff for the money.
Sending you best wishes from across the other side of the planet…South Western Australia
Thanks a lot, mate 🙏😎🎸
Horrible stuff, I hope you will rise again soon!
I'll be back - for sure 😎🎸
man who dont have isolated power supply today ?
I don't know - I'm only using isolated power supplies for a very long time. The thing is that I don't want to waste one outlet for a tuner...
Ohh man sad to hear that, but glad you and your family are fine, all material stuff can be replaced.
So true - thanks a lot 🙏 😎🎸
Glad that you are safe
Thanks a lot, mate 🙏 😎🎸
I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you get to rebuild without any lasting damage to the house. I think Central Europe is going to have to plan communal infrastructure and architecture to withstand increasingly unpredictable weather.
That's true, even though a lot has been done preventively, things need to be improved. Many thanks for your concern 🙏😎🎸
Hallo my Freund, my Herz ist with Dir, so sorry for Dein Studio. Hier in der Schweiz auch alles under Water. Bis bald mein Freund..... Roland from CH
Leider sind schrecklich viele Menschen sind betroffen, wir hatten noch Glück im Unglück - vielen Dank für Deine Anteilnahme und die netten Worte 🙏😎🎸
Too bad!!!! Hope to see you soon.
Never give up - I'll be back... 🙏😎🎸
Sad!!!Courage!!!!!
Thanks, mate 🙏😎🎸
Excellent series
Impressive work… Thanks a lot for your dedication, time and neutrality!
Thanks for your positive feedback 🙏 😎🎸
@@RockGuitarVibes you’re welcome 🙏🤘🏻🎸🔥
And here we are at the final conclusion ! Thanks for the huge amount of work. It's so useful ! You rock !
Thanks a lot 🙏 😎🎸
In my personal experience, 30+ years playing, 20 of those as a prpfessional player: Japan made is always better than USA built...and cheaper. They just have that tradition in wood work that it is just unparalleled in the world.
Many thanks for your comment - personally I think it depends on, I have some very good guitars which are made in USA...
I daisy chain my polytune and get zero noise from it. Surprising that a company who specializes in power supplies couldn't get this right.
What oil did you use? Is it ok to oil roasted maple neck? I called suhr they said it will get stained and swollen. Is that true?
I've always using Sandberg Fingerboard Oil even on roasted maple neck guitars and never had any issues with it. I do this when the fretborad looks dry - not more than once in a year.
This Boss OD200 sounds amazing with Humbuckers.
Hello! insane information in these videos. I have a silver jubilee using it with a 1960av ( so i need attenuation for home and maybe gonna use it to record with IRs on pc ) I think the ps-2a is my first option, would the fractal thingy work mainly the same way? would be great to pay half the price of the freytte. but im not sure i understand everything about the fractal product yet. I would love the simplest option even if its pricier
The Fractal is not an attenuator - however, it can be used for silent recording, means without a cabinet.
Great review and playing.
Thanks a lot 🙏 😎🎸
As stated already. Digital pedals shoild always be isolated. All tuners are digital these days. If it requires more power there are more features and processing. You may get away with it with a cheap amazon tuner... or not for other reasons.
Ok, so if you are an expert in electronics please explain in detail why the issue does not occur with my Peterson tuner or with my TC Polytune or with other some digital pedals I've already tested - thanks in advance!
What power supply are you using? What is the mA output?
On that board it is the Pedaltrain Spark, 500mA outlet - same issue with my other power supplies, the Cioks DC7 and the T-Rex Fuel Tank. As demonstrated in the video the issue is not caused by the power supply...
Just bought the Canvas Tuner and you are right , it must have a separate and completely isolated power supply. I bought the Earthboard and it uses a unique system withone power source so the tuner will always require that I set it aside from the board which defeats the purpose. I'll bring it back and buy an analog tuner....wonder if the Peterson Strobostomp is analog? Can't find where it says it is or not. My old tuner is analog and just too small a display but works until I find another that fits my needs.
For me the Peterson tuner works great without any issues - the general rule never mix digital and analog is a bit outdated and depends on the used devices. Modern digital devices should be able to avoid pollution of the voltage.
Hello! Great Video series! I have one question: If I want to reamp (different amp) a guitar track, using a pre recorded clean DI, but cannot reamp using a cab (I live in a flat!), what attenuator/power soak/load box is best for a punchy realistic sound? Which one has the closest result to a real amp, full volume with a real cabinet? Thanks in advance and Cheers from Portugal!
I would recommend the X-Load from Fractal Audio - you can find a detailed test here -> ua-cam.com/video/AR_q297ll5U/v-deo.html However, keep in mind the sound also depends on the used IR's...
The problem with your review is you don't identify what power supply you are using and at what rated power output ? also I would never use a daisy chain power supply vs a good quality Isolated power supply with any of my pedal boards today, this seems to be a problem only when going cheap on how you are powering your board, also mixing analogue and digital pedals requires a good isolated high output power supply to avoid these kinds of problems.
Well, I'm using only high quality power supplies with isolated outputs, that one has 500mA. I think I'll do a follow up video and explain the problem in more detail with some test of other digital pedals that do not pollute the voltage.
I love the idea of using a looper to test and see which amp the player prefers for that phrase. Do you know if this is dual-voltage and able to be used in America AND Germany?
From the website I've seen that there is a possibility to switch the power supply to 115V. However, for this the device has to be opened - I would recommened to contact the support to get more detailed information.
@@RockGuitarVibes thank you!
Playing through a guitar amp I suspect?
I think it was a Kemper Ampeg profile - I mentioned it somewhere in the video...
Excellent video, very helpful. God bless.
Thanks a lot 🙏 😎🎸
Thanks! Now I figured out why my tuner was noisy! 😅
Man, you are a hero! You could relesease an IR for each load box with the difference between the real cabinet and the load box impedance curve, so we could "correct" our imperfect devices.
Hm, interesting idea... however, each cabinet has it's own impedance curve and each amp interacts different to that curve, so IMHO it's almost impossible.
@@RockGuitarVibes, that average curve you obtained with your EVH cabinet would be good for most of us. I have Boss TAE and, no matter the IR I use, the results are far inferior to a real cab+mic. I suspect the impedance curve induced by the TAE is the culprit.
Great video. Thank you so much. What do you think about the tuning stability on the MJ? I consider picking one up soon, but I'm hearing different stories on the tuning stability, ranging from very disappointing to fantastic. The truth will lie somewhere in the middle I suppose? Cheers!
Thanks a lot. I can only speak for the guitar that I personally own - the tuning stability of this model is pretty good. However, it is not as good as with a good double-action tremolo.
Thank you so very much! I love my Ibanez Prestige - but hated changing the strings so much I considered just selling the guitar.
Glad I could help... 😎🎸
We should all be happy guitar pedals still have audio jacks and not just Bluetooth...
I'm pretty proud of myself of sitting through all of this. So I can't but respect how deep you went down the rabbit hole to do come up and do all the experiments and gather all this data. A worthy update to Henning's videos a while back. It's people like you that make UA-cam worthwhile. Thanks!
I’ve had an UAD Ox Box for the last few years. My amps tube life is greatly shortened….. not driving the amps that hard but amps really don’t like them. My Friedman Butterslax and Runt hate the ox . Sound is great but be prepared to have to take your amp to get repaired at least once a year. People don’t talk about this enough.
Just got the american model and also own the mij model.. IMO, the American model really is a cut above in looks, feel, and sound(even smell)😊.. The MIJ feels more mass produced and simply put, boring? Both amazing guitars but like you said, you get what you pay for.. However, I’d personally look for a used USA model for a similar price. I also had an issue with the nut of the MIJ needing to be lowered on the high e to stop it from popping out.. I’m thinking of switching it to a bone nut but time will tell. Also, noticed Guthrie used the MIJ model for a while and while touring with Hans Zimmer but in his recent shows I’ve only seen him with two of the USA models. Anecdotal evidence but it says something to me.
I remember when I bought my first properly isolated power supply. It was a second hand Walrus Audio Phoenix. Fixed so many issues on my pedalboard. Evolving is hard, but you'll figure it out.
It's way too long that I remind when I bought my first isolated power supply - watching the video could help to understand...
I played guitar for 20 years without having an isolated power supply I have one now and can’t believe I didn’t try it
Unreal level of detail and time to research and present all this, thank you for the effort, series was much enjoyed
Thanks a lot 🙏 😎🎸
This german english...
...is what it is 😉
Pedals dumping clock noise on ground has been an issue for what... 30 years? Even that famous Small Stone did it and yes, it's frigging annoying. For good measures I isolate everything, except maybe analog boosters, overdrives, wah,...
Isn't it finally time to make things better? The first cell phones were like bricks without a display - we live in the present! And btw. I don't know any other tuner with a digital noise issue, so tthey have introduced something for tuners that is absolutely annoying...
Ooof. What a terrible hot take - At least you got the views you wanted.
The thing is, I simply want a better product, and others seem to agree 😮
@@RockGuitarVibes A very, very few people agree with you. Go through your page and check the likes - they aren't in defense of you and your shockingly pedantic view of daisy chaining.
Well, the video has over 100 likes 🤔 Anyway, congratulations if the tuner is good enough for your use case, it's just useless for mine...
@@RockGuitarVibes 5.4 thousand views and hundred likes. Yeah - people are falling over to agree with you. That is sarcasm.
Well, if more people would have a deeper knowledge about electronics, I'm sure more would agree... BTW: The like rate is pretty normal for my channel.
Thanks for saving me a lot disappointment. I was going to buy a captor x for bass use, but that low cut is a no go. Think I’ll get the suhr.
Glad I could help... 😎🎸
Just saw a channel featuring the Driftwood reactive load up against the Shur. Interesting. Would you consider doing a test on one of these?
not quite sure if I want to test it, what I've heard so far is that the RedSeven sounds better - which also means that the Suhr sounds better...
Your content so so useful for me, thanks alot ❤❤❤❤
Thanks, really glad I could help 😎🎸
thanks for all the hard work
Which is less artificial sounding, the Suhr ir box or the Two Notes Cap X?
Both can sound great - however, I wouldn't use the Captor X in low mode - means with a cranked amp, especially in this case the Suhr sounds a litte better.
Was there a winner?
You can find the answer in the last episode of the series -- see ua-cam.com/video/AR_q297ll5U/v-deo.html
I wish the x load was an ir loader. I’d buy that in an instant. But I’d half to buy a separate loader for live use and the attenuation isn’t as much or as tunable as some of the others.
