With every other expac before Shadowlands...I had zero issue of choosing a main. In fact, that fuckin thought never crossed my mind. It has always been my tankadin for a solid decade now. Fast forward to current day, and now Shadowlands has made every single class more interesting then they've ever been, tickling our brains into thinking, "Huh...maybe I should main a different class." Oh yeah, I'm high as hell too right now, so excuse my gibberish.
New to WoW (having come back this summer for the first time since Vanilla) and have been playing DPS classes to 120 until prepatch. Did my first tank runs with DK last night and had a blast. appreciate your SL vids a lot. helpful for even a noob like me
the thing thats interesting about the prot pally, when we look at bfa, it really wasnt rated very well compared to the other tanks. that being said, i didnt see any other class solo various raid bosses when they were the current raid or solo clear every dungeon on mythic difficulty, within the first week or 2 of mythic being released (before mythic+ was released). so it could be the same as bfa, lowly rated but in reality it could achieve levels that no other tank spec could even come close to matching. but it could also go the other way. ive rolled one just incase this time around haha
Just wanted to point out that, tho i get what you meant there, imo saying that Blood has a reactive playstyle is a bit misleading since the thing you are supposed to press to react to damage requires you to have seen it coming and have stored enough recources to deal with it.
Definitely blood dk for me. I looooove this self healing! I also love class fantasy, rotation, grips and bad ass looking with one of the coolest transmogs in the game. The only downside for me is mobility :) For alt i will probably pick prot pala or brewmaster
Im so sad that blizzard left guardian behind since legion. I just love how the bear plays. Would be great if we had no cd on frenzied regen but cost rage and the heal would based on the rage you use. Would fresh up the class a bit. And its great to have those extra abilities from the Heart of the wild talent but almost none of them can be used in bear form. Imagine having Hearth of the wild which lets you use one ability in bear form based on your affinity. Like Starsurge for boomie aff, reju for resto aff, and rake for feral aff. Would change your rotation a little bit or atleast somewhat more enjoyable to play the class. But i found that prot paladin has the biggest "pugcarry" potential for mythic+ with those offheals.
At least one of the SotR buffs doesn’t have to have down time, and I’m pretty sure it’s the armor one. Duration gets refreshed by reuse, so it only makes sense to use right as the previous buff ends. If you have a gap, then you probably need to work on refraining from using it as soon as you have the HP to do so.
I love tanking as a Pali. I know lots of folks don't like them but I just have so much fun I can't help myself. I imagine I will do it here again. I'll get the same duff about their being crap. I've never had any real problems tanking as a pali and it's just so much fun. The other good thing is its excellent for raid and party leaders as you can do that at the same time pretty easily while still being the main tank.
Avenger's Shield is by far my favorite ability in the game. It's just so satisfying. It's visually stunning, it's excellent to aggro everything at the start of a fight, it silences casters forcing them to walk to you, it does great damage. How much better can an ability get? :)
Ya, palis are just so much fun. I decided to level one of every class from zero to max. I had 3 when I decided to do it, mage, druid, shaman not sure if I had a demon hunter... doesn't matter anyway. I rolled a pali and at about lvl 15 or 20 I thought, "hmmm, let's try tanking". I changed spec and found a pug. I was nervous, I told the group I was a brand new pali tank and they were surprisingly cool. I was all nerves but we got through. I immediately qued to go again :) 20 seconds later, I'm in! What is this? Well that was me, sold. No que for anything, it's funner than anything I had done in wow in years. So I just swapped spec all the time to get the hang of the class in general but fell in love with tanking as a pali. I tried demon hunter but was a bit underwhelmed, it's ok for tanking but a bit hit or miss depending on what you are up against. The pali just feels like you are driving a new Mercedes. You just have a great tool kit and it's not reliant on procks, it just works and you have control. You can easily save the healer and not miss a beat. Stun, pull, agro away, it's easy really but you just kinda get a rhythm going and never really struggle. Hunters pets are a pain when they use kill command like noobs but, you just let their pet have agro and die and the hunter soon learns a valuable lesson :) Best of all, you just feel indestructible. I've seen groups nuking on me, pvp, in the open world and 20 minutes later, I'm still standing. You may not do a lot of DPS but try and kill me, go on, lol. It's just incredible. I've seen folk just stop fighting me, look at me for a minute, give up then walk away in disgust. It's so funny when it happens. They really are super fun to play. Well worth a shot if you've never tried it folks. Many laughs will be had. My main has been a mage since vanilla. Since I rolled my pali, I just play my mage less and less and my pali more and more. I have one of everything but a hunter at 120 now, I'm leaving hunter for the new expansion. Wife plays hunter, that's why I have held off all these years. But, in my humble opinion, pali is the funnest class I have played in wow for years. Druids are a bit dull as tanks, monks are strange, warrior are frantic but good, demon hunters are fun but not always great, death knights are not my thing, nope not into DK, sorry. Perhaps it's because I like playing as a caster the pali tank feels so intuitive. There is just something about a pali that feels like a caster, not a melee class. Who knows, it's fun for me and that's the most important thing. Just have fun, that's all that matters.
Main tank brewmaster, also I will use guardian druid as an off-tank and I will use prot warrior as well, it will feel a little more challenging than the other two and I like that.
Just a note, pala can heal others, not only self healing, the word of glory can heal your dungeon mate for 70% of their HP and if you get more procs of divine purpose you can TANK, CC & heal the whole group within seconds, its the best tank for me now
I am not even tank player and I learned valuable lesson in this video from observing his tank style. He always turn back after the approach not only to give melee dps better position, also giving him better secure view of all party members. I will implement this technique if I play tank later.
Great indepth video, instead of just telling the masses what's meta atm and people blindly following that choice without even understanding why it's meta.
Yep I'm glad the tank specs are all viable and the gap between them is smaller. I like pally and warrior tanking but when they are being out preformed by dks and DHS it annoyed me cause groups would refuse to let me into the party in favor of flavor of the month picks.
Gap is mainly smaller because dungeon mobs in Shadowlands are closer to 40-50% magic damage, whereas in BfA there were some dungeons where 90% of the damage incoming was physical, mainly from auto-attacks, so classes with 100% mitigation uptime were favored. Having lower uptime on your Physical damage mitigation doesn't hurt as bad in Shadowlands because now you want to save the charges for big abilities instead of spamming it on every CD. Basically classes with Magic Mitigation and self-healing got indirectly buffed, and healers will have a bit of a harder time, but that's fine. Also getting a bunch of utility back in general helped in the sense that you no longer NEED to bring certain tanks just for their utility since class identity got shit on again in favor of class balance.
While cast at cursor might be nice to maximize dps fast, tanks usually rely more on accuracy and positioning, therefore actually seeing the circle and placing it perfectly is way superior to slapping it down fast for max dps.
As a tank, I'd prefer to see the circle so I can encompass all enemies inside of it, rather than just place my cursor in the middle and hope. Is it really that much of an inconvenience to just place it manually? I'm not trying to be an ass, I just have never used the macro and am to lazy to test it out XD
I decided to main blood dk and make a vengeance demon hunter for a alt and I’ve been having a blast but vengeance is a bit hard for me and I haven’t been able to get used to it yet so rightnow I’m stuck tanking mythic 10-12s but any higher and I struggle
Current numbers matter little to nothing. The issues are in the gameplay. It's an unpolished mess, like if you pick any other tank spec at random, It will be a better overall option. If you want more detailed info i suggest you check the guardian druid discord and ask there
Why have this "guardian druid is weak against magic" narrative so prevalent among reviewers? You get basically a shield wall/Icebound fortitude every 35sec now with Pulverize rework, that reduces all damage, in between these 35sec, you have survival instincts, 2 stacks for 12sec, barkskin albeit for only 20%, then frenzied regeration. Look I've written too much, what I've should noted is that from the entire druid's survival cool down kit, ONLY ironfur doesn't help mitigating magical damage.
Nvm last comment, you should've just said you don't like druid, since guardian is boring for getting rage and just spend on abilities and on the other hand Paladin is so exciting to generate and spending holy power.
Someone please tell me what addon he's using that has his party names and target clean and organized at the bottom other then all lined up from top to bottom on 5he laeft
You can do it without addons. Go to interface The downbottom raidframes. Then pick "raidframs in group" Then you can sort after groups, and horisontal mode. Then just press "unlock" and move it whereever u want it. Gl
yeah especially when it didn't used to be that way, they gutted paladin mobility in legion for no reason. all they need is long arm of the law back, boom mobility fixed.
Brewmasters take consistent damage since they stagger it into a dot. They are the easiest to heal. Blood DK's are the hardest because their health is always spiking and healers should look at their runic power instead of their health.
So you're saying every spec is going to function like they have the past 3 expansions? Warrior n' Pally - damage mitigation, Blood - heal it all back etc.
If that's all you think made the gameplay then sure. If you actually bother to play the classes then all of them and the number tuning they have is drastically different. But yeah, if all you do is sum up their class fantasies then sure -- they function the same as they did in the past 3 expansions.
@@IShotLazer I don't think I said any of these classes are similar to each other, other than the fact that they're all tanks. The each have their own niche when it comes to how they play as I stated previously. I'm criticizing the video for pointing out what most of the people watching the video already know. That each of the tanks listed within the video play this way... Like we somehow forgot? Or needed a reminder? This isn't me going after the game but more so the video creator for stating the obvious.
the bear is the easiest to play. and yet there are people who completely fail at tanking... i have been a bear tank for 15 years. and even in these shitty times of being the lowest tier. people have been failing at it so badly... then im wondering how they can mess up 2 buttons.
Stuck Between Brewmaster And VDH. Others like Blood and Pally were all enticing, but that mobility for pally/blood really turned me off. Warrior wasn't even in the ballpark, but that's just me.
They need to fix dh seriously very poorly thought out spec with impossible up time in mitigation. Very squishy and very clunky. Sad how much thought they put into it. Next to none
You can keep feed the demon and demonic up at all times with the right build. Demon spikes is just for, well, spikes. Dh is currently the best tank for M+ by a long shot, and 2nd best for progression. Not sure what you're talking about. Top 25 World VDH.
Plese remake this video with footage of simple rotation gamepplay, without interface addons. You say about really difficult things, but we dont whant to listen your opinion - we need to construct ours own. We whant just simple WASD about all tanks, and you help us to understand who is best tank. Again i dot get any info - 25 min is to lomg, just cast 3 min for main aspects of each tank - no one will remember more 15 min. Dont show DeathKnight with monk heal (or something like that): here is a lot of confuzed skills, i just cant understand why you shot monk's totem if here is DeathKnight showcase. Make a clear picture and a real example of actual mithic 10+.
I really dont understand why every single video like this one keeps perpetuating the bullshit claim that bears have no way to deal with magic? Are you forgetting that Barkskin and Survival Instincts reduce ALL damage, not just physical? For some reason, these content creators have been spreading this misinformation for the entirety of BfA and it's truly baffling that they still keep going now that bears will have more uptime on those cooldowns than ever. Baseline CDs on SI and Barkskin have been significantly reduced as well as the introduction of legendary that further reduces the CD. With talented Survival of the Fittest you can get Barkskin to 40second CD (and even less with the lego) and SI to 1,5min with 2 charges. What more do you want lol? I mean sure, bring mark of ursol back (or w/e was it called), I'm sure bears won't complain.
I also don't get why people think bears dmg rotation is more boring than that of other tanks. I have't tried prot warr since legion so I can't speak much of it but I played blood a decent amount and dabbled a bit in palla, DH and monk and I don't see how they have more "interesting" rotation, except maybe DH which was however also kinda irritating for me at times, due to the nature of soul fragments. To me, what makes tanking interesting isnt the rotation (which is pretty simple for all tank specs, lets be honest) but the control you have over how the dungeon run goes, which pulls you make and how, when to use defensive CDs, playing into your DPS strengths, knowing tricks that can make certain packs easier etc. And the short waiting times are also very nice. Not a big fan of tanking in raids so not gonna speak about that.
@@Hitmaster8 because druid requires more than 2 neurones to play thats why i know a lot of good druids who are near immortal and dealing a lot of dmg also healing the party they don't complain about anithing they see it fine also they use feral too and before the prepatch they stayed at 70-100k dps whitout stars or devastations just pure stats meanwhile the dps list posting them at the bottom whit 30-40k...
It is already nerfed, and if you know smth about spriest you would know they didnt need nerf. But i guess speaking nonsense for no reason is always fun for stupid ppl.
Whenever someone says to nerf SPriest I cringe... BfA they were basically a meme class you pick when you want to never get picked for the raid team. Because in Legion they were often the #1 DPS on the charts, at least during the last 30 seconds of a fight where they went Surrender Madness and started cranking out more DPS than the next 5 people combined.
This style of video is liquid gold. No gimmicky tiers, just evidence so we can decide. Thank you!

Make a clear picture and a real example of actual mithic 10+.
What ui is that in the intro?
Its Elvui
1st?
nerf shadow priest
It is already nerfed, and if you know smth about spriest you would know they didnt need nerf. But i guess speaking nonsense for no reason is always fun for stupid ppl.
He clearly needed a nerf in pvp.
Bremaster not the best self-sustain! bruh it's the most hps tank
