A Mega compilation of some of WoW's most iconic weapons(and some armor too). Similar to my infamous/famous series, I redid all of the old voiceovers, made some fixes to primarily my Azeroth Arsenal series, and put it all together in one video for you to enjoy/fall asleep to. Hope you enjoy
I really appreciate this. This is one of my favorite series and I hope one day you could go back and do another one. Learning the history of weapons and how to obtain them is super interesting to me :) even if you don't, I appreciate that you made this series in the first place. Thank you for everything
I need to take a moment to appreciate you, dude. I've been following you for years and while my subscriptions on UA-cam generally get filled up with crap, I'm genuinely excited when I see a new MadSeason vid dropped. You are an icon. Keep doing you and I hope you enjoy that flavour of life we call happiness as often as possible.
As a nine-year-old absolutely obsessed with world of warcraft when it came out, it was always the small things like flavor text on a weapon that made the world so much larger in my mind. Some things are better left in story and in imagination.
I love the random procs on vanilla weapons and random stuff they have, it just made the gear feel a lot more unique and immersive rather than them just being predictable stats
I gathered enough mats and gold to craft an AR on my birthday, it was 2005 I believe. The look on my friends faces (one of which was a warrior) when I told them in programming class my shaman had gotten one, and at level 58
The last thing I ever expected was a 3 hour long video from Mad Season about WoW...a few years ago, sure but now? No way! Awesome awesome awesome. I've played WoW on and off since 2005, but since BFA - I haven't touched it largely because of how much my life/responsibilities have changed. This channel has been my only connection to this game and its world, which I absolutely love and holds some extremely fond memories. Not only because of the game, but different periods throughout my life that I've played the game during. Thank You Mad Season, thank you. You are appreciated man!
Crazy to think that when WoW just came out, the game felt much more sophisticated than it is now. Now everything is oversimplified and overstuffed with items that might as well not even have a name. Where did all this creativity go, the great writing and mystery behind the items.
@@Epicspacecow Perhaps I didn't give enough context to what I was trying to say. WoW lacks these special items that people know by name and have an actual lore/legend behind, on top of a unique way of acquiring them. Everything is just given to you by a quest or a dungeon. I don't know a single modern WoW (last 5-8 years) that people. In that sense the system is oversimplified in my opinion.
@@sabineterryn1513preposterous! How can you not remember the n'th weapon with stamina, mainstat and two secondary stats that drops from the raid boss with no lore whatsoever?
Going on these giant quest chains finalising in dungeon/raids was my favourite part of vanilla I think, just totally absorbed in the lore, the music, the scenery. Escapism at its best.
sulfaras is in my opinion one of the most ugliest weapons in history of entire mankind. why? because of the scaling. it looks sooo massive and powerful but its soooooo tiny, tiny itzy bitzy looks like a powerrangers weapon. why didnt they make at least the head of the hammer bigga?
i got the battered hilt in Pit of Saron during patch 3.3 on my death knight tank while PuG tanking when the instances where still kind of a bumpy ride if you had new players in group and you could be stuck in there for a long minute, i remember looting it and thinking "hello, and what are you?" a very fun quest chain, humorously enough i played on the Quel'dorei server (later merged into Quel'dorei/Sen'jin)
Thanks. Nice to hear the questing details behind these items. I was a ud rogue, miner - mastersword smith..Before I quit, I made Blazefury and had Fel Longblade I think..that was my epic journey lol. Cheers for the watch and the effort put into putting this together.
Enhancement using 2 handed weapons is something I miss so much. I remember grinding Scarlet Chain and Ravager. Never got the whole set, but the built in blade storm effect was THE coolest thing as a kid. He was my first ever character that I made but I never got out of Desolace before I couldn't play anymore for a while. This was in TBC. Miss you Khazzak, I wish I never lost that account :'(
The dungeon set 2 for warlock was awesome for pvp. Chance on being hit to become spectral. Was about the only thing you could do to live vs a geared rogue who got the openner on you
The fact these weapons had different RPG stats, so much lore, arduous epic quests/quest lines to get them etc... Just feels way more cool than "equip whichever has highest ilvl gear" right now...
1:01:00 as a druid (multiple) the biggest issue I had with Tier 0.5 was the inability to do the quest for the set you wanted, as the Fel set was NOT good for feral, but the Shadow set was. Yet the quest only worked for the Fel set as a druid.
The very first day the Pit of Saron was released the drop on the hilt was bugged and it dropped EVERY SINGLE RUN we did. We made so much money farming those in the first few hours.
I have no words to describe how magical this video is. I really love all WoW lore until WoTLK and it's insane how good you're at using all top tier music in this video. Classic PoE ost, old Diablo ost, it's magical. This video is top tier quality and I wanna say thanks for spending your time and effort into gathering and compiling all this interesting lore into such a big and long vid. It was pure joy to watch and listen to.
Spire of the Stonekeeper has one use I can think of - if you're a caster that's OOM and you're under attack (either loose mobs or fleeing from battle). 1000 extra armour is decent for a clothie, and since you can't cast anyway you may as well up your chances of escaping in one piece. Very niche, though.
Thanks for taking the time to put this together and share it with us! As ever, your soothing voice coupled with your writing style makes for thoroughly enjoyable content that I continue to find truly inspirational. You make me want to work harder, better on my own videos, to live up to the standards set by creators like yourself. And I don’t know if I can come up with a more sincere compliment than that.
Merry Christmas, Mads! I got my 2nd Ed plushy. I love it, and so does my grandpuppy. She'll drag it to her spot by one of his horns and cuddle with it. I guess it belongs to her now. Still waiting for you to come out with some Madseasonings for cooking. A pizza spice mix in different variations, maybe. :D Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful holiday and a brilliant new year.
Another amazing video from MadSeason. Thank you for bringing me back to my childhood, was great to see some of these weapons again and the lore behind them.
2:30:56 It feels so weird to actually remember when the update that changed the armour and weapon models landed. I remember especially because my Irish buddy came online after getting OEB a couple nights earlier, and was visibly buzzing off his bonce at the upgrade 🤣 Good Times, thanks for this Madseason
I didn't even know some of these existed even though I was playing almost since launch. I've made a hobby of solo gathering most of the legendary stuff that I could, but I've been stuck on blood infusion since the middle ages lol
if you kept your original characters at 60 like me and had any of the classic era legendary weapons after they squished levels the weapons now require you to be level 30 instead of level 25 which is what a level 60 character would be set to after the change. There is also an issue with tbc legendary items like the glaives and the bow; instead of working at level 27 which is what they squished 70's to the glaives and bow require level 30 now. Also you can't enter any of the raids since they messed up that level requirement too
The 0.5 quest line was cursed by timing. It was epic and awesome. I'm so glad that in the season of discovery it came out at 60. It was so fun to go through and get relevant gear. I was a shaman so that 2 piece bonus stayed bis until AQ came out!
Love these types of videos. amazing narration and so much work!!! tysm for keeping the fun lore and images alive for us nostalgia-ers. also the DK music in the background, chefs kiss
I miss the days when you had to do some epic quest chains to get some of the most legendary items. Only quest chain i got very close to completing during my time playing was Shadowmourne. I was up to the point where you had to kill 1000 things within Icecrown. Never got lucky enough to come across a Battered Hilt when that quest chain opened up.
Madseason, I don't know if you remember me but I used to be one of your subs that often commented. Anyway, been a very long while since I stopped Wow because I have no time to invest there. But I'm missing the game so much and recently tried looking out for your channel, and was so freaking happy you're still doing the same amazing content that I remembered. I'm one of your biggest fans, mister amazing voice. And since I've got no time to play, at least I can watch some nostalgic videos or just your videos whenever I can. Happy Holidays, MadSeason. I have been watching your videos for years and admired how you have put all of them together. The Ocarina of Time was arguable your best work and moves me to tears every time I watch it. Thank you for everything you do and I look forward to your new content in the new year and beyond.
I´m actualy a carpenter and have a lifesized Thunderfury at home, made out of wood. Also Doomhammer, Ashbringer, Greatsword of the High Warlord, Sword of the High Warlord, Shildwall of the High Warlord, Sulfuras hand of Ragnaros.. this video hits so much nostalgia... :( good times long gone... Ingame i was a Sets and weapons fanatic! had 8 warriors or so.
I won't stand for this hunter slander. Some of us learned to turn growl off, pet management, trapping, kiting, pulling, and not needing on everything we can equip! 😂
2:56:15 bruh, i was thinking about playing monkey hero again the other day, this soundtrack doesnt exactly make me want play it any less. what an absolute banger of a game.
Despite how much I do love the journey of getting epic gear in Classic, I do also still love the Transmog system because I love being able to keep the graphic of gear I already earned and just fell in love with.
I did the Thunderfury during Shadowlands, when it was utterly trivial and, well... it still was one of the most horrendous farms I ever did, in 15 years of WoW. I had to hit Molten Core for months and months, with many alts, then train a specialized Alchemist to make Arcanite Bars, then farm the crystals in Un'Goro, that alone took days (!) of flying around... What an effort! And it was "trivial"... Now, sure, I could have just spent 200k gold at the AH, once I had the Bindings. In hindsight, not a bad alternative plan...
Oooh good lord! 3 Hours of just listening and watching the video. 3 hours in wich I do not have to think about anything else and just do 1 thing. Thank you for this zen moment @madseasons ❤
Fantastic stuff MadS. I haven't played since end of MoP, but still thoroughly enjoy your vids. You've put a hell of a lot of time and effort in this one. Kudos!
the tier 0.5 journey was the peak of gaming cohesion, they should have really made that more mandatory and part of the pre BWL gearing ( PS: cleansing the Ashbringer was the true final patch we never got :( )
i got tf 20 years ago, as we had bwl on farm and tried nax. then i wanted to go to mc once mor for the t2 throuses at rangnarok, still didnt got them. so i organized a twink raid with my main (tank) and got both bindings in one run. nobody wanted to do this insane quest line. it took me about 20 more runs for the eye of ragnarok
I can proudly day after close to 15 years of playing. I got shadowmourne and sulfuras, and one half of a binding of the windseeker. Spent many years just grinding old content for xmog. I met someone once who had a character he played during vanilla and he still had the linkens sword of mastery in his inventory and when he came back to play xmog existed. I saw that sword model the first time I watching wow on g4 in like 2005 and always wished I could have gotten it for my xmog.
I really enjoy your videos. They're well-executed, detailed with thought-proving storylines and include myth and lore to bewilder the listener to help them dive into the world from which you explain so Illustriously. However, in a few instances per video you have some noticeable mispronunciations of English words. For instace, at 1:42:55 - "epitome" is pronounced [eh-pit-oh-me]. Other than those, I genuinely applaud your dive-downs into all types of WoW subjects and look forward to future videos! 🙂
I love how the list stops at Wrath, period. And how this video is on point, a level 10 quest item or a blue lvl 58 sword can be more memoreble than any epic / legendary crap that came after Cata.
Still have the whole Heroism Set Quel'Serrar with a Crusader enchant. Sulfuras And left of the Binding of Windseeker( but then tbc came and I really didn't had a chance to farm for the second half 😢)
lmao even the ad commentary is amazing. I guess the weapon for me, at least for my Shaman was Staff of Dominance - long story, but a Resto Shaman with this in vanilla meant either the raid leaders were idiots, the resto shaman was well liked by the entire raid (in my case), or they ninja'd it or something similar. Cue lots of "LOL Shaman with Staff of Dominance" in Orgrimmar from stupid Warriors or the like and assholes refusing to enchant it for me. It didnt last long as I got it enchanted by some friends but I still find it slightly funny that people thought it was a bad thing or something. Just highlights the mentality of players back then I guess.
I always hoped Blizzard would bring back legendary weapons obtained through time consuming and/or challenging quests again, nothing screams legendary louder than the effort needed to get them in the first place. Quel'delar, Shadowmourne, and the Blue Dragontflight staff in Cataclysm is really the only times I can think of they have done it since vanilla.
This is giving me the urge to go play classic again. Even though I started WoW during Legion and became a Heroic raider who dabbled into Mythic. My fondest memories aren't of flawless runs on the hardest retail raids or high Mythic keystones. But of my Boomer guild in Classic, where me in my mid 20s was the youngest person of the guild wiping on some braindead mechanic as my Boomer guildies just chatted and bantered with each other.
I misread the title and thought this was going to be a 3 hr saga of a documentary only about Thunderfury. Still clicked and would’ve probably watched 😅
now that there is a way to run the original Scholomance again, do you still have a chance of obtaining the headmaster's (giggity) staff in it's original form? :)

I remember when weapon names were memorable and not a placeholder. Also remember when weapons weren't replaced every 5 mins.
Hell yeah man, love the compilations! Great for when I'm at work or just gaming late at night! Keep up the great work!
Is that the Factorio OST playing in the background? Amazing video in either case!
Perfect video for hanging out in the garage while working on some projects 🙌
3h long madseason vid, best christmas gift ive gotten ever
I love how the list stops at Wrath, period. And how this video is on point, a level 10 quest item or a blue lvl 58 sword can be more memoreble than any epic / legendary crap that came after Cata.
Still have the whole Heroism Set
Quel'Serrar with a Crusader enchant.
Sulfuras
And left of the Binding of Windseeker( but then tbc came and I really didn't had a chance to farm for the second half 😢)
lmao even the ad commentary is amazing.
Just highlights the mentality of players back then I guess.
god tier this vid just made me pull an wow all nighter just to finish it. thanks man! much love
Wait did someone say [Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker]??
Merry xmas to us. We musta been good to get a 3 hour Madseason vid
I'm sorry, can you explain what is about the teebu's blazing longsword in warlord of draebor?
after 7 years I got the bindings last month, and it feels great to watch this video
Lets see how he gets a 3 hour video out of a single weapon
now that there is a way to run the original Scholomance again, do you still have a chance of obtaining the headmaster's (giggity) staff in it's original form? :)
You know it's Christmas when Madseason drops a 3 hr video.
never realized until now how sus Edgemaster's Gloves sounds
Real shame that the ancient leaf item/quests were given to hunters instead of Druids. It fits the class/theme so much better.
I just finished a 14 Hour Video marathon about classic WoW, now 3 Hours about Weapons?
I have a family, I have a life!
No sleep for me...
Shoutout to Kralnor! His staff is a good one
OMG! Did I hear a mention of [Thunderfury, Blessed Blade Of The Windseeker]?
i was one of the first top 10 in the world in vanilla to get it, then on rerelease of wow classic i again got it but then the game died in my heart.
Felt asleep to this video on 3 different occasions now. Thank you bruv
Wasn't intellect a hunter stat in vanilla? It's been a while, and I never really played hunter, but I half recall neglect being good for something
I still can’t complete the part where you have to get bit by the queen and transfer it to the axe . I’d love to get shadowmourne .
Furbolg Medicine Totem was more iconic than Pendulum of Doom
and there had to be time to side eye and mention the Blackrock Slicer
This kind of video is good information for use in new game design. Great video!
both blackhand swords just dropped as you were talking about them
