@@HokeOutdoors No not yet, I drove from Montgomery County MD with my daughter to meet them and get my waders. Maybe now I can ask them but I need to get a VA nonresident hunting license.
As a native Virginian I’m interested in supporting the locals. On my third season with my current pair of breathable waders but the are starting to leak where the boot meets the wader material. The early season I smeared some shoe goo on the inside of the seam which appears to be working for now... I like the idea of Kevlar on the front of the leg. I would like to see some of the same material on the butt area to provide extra projection against wear when sliding on crappy boat and blinds seats as well as the occasional schooching down the river bank or beaver dams on my rump..Hopefully the boot rubber is flexible too for those longs walks in so it doesn’t rub the meat off your shins.
I will pass on that idea about the Kevlar on the rear. That has definitely been the #2 area where I've torn my waders in the past. I've really like the boots on these, they have more real rubber than other companies use so they're flexible and comfortable.
I just went out for rail for the first time this season. It's different here in Missouri, basically like going out for upland birds, walking a marsh with the dog. Shot a bunch of sora and definitely needed the dog in the early season smartgrass. I grilled mine whole and thought they tasted very close to dark meat from a free-ranging chicken. Definitely will go again.
Just got a pair of neoprene high n dry, i can tell the seams are built very well along with the boots. I think they could do a little better with their straps but overall i’m very impressed
Great hunt! Always interesting and cool to have exposure to different types of hunting and different game species. I am going to need new waders after or before the end of this season. I'll have to give these guys a look. Great video as always, Thomas.
Thanks man! It was a cool time chasing them. Definitely different than anything I've done before. How's the bird numbers shaping up out that way so far? Starting to see more and more migrators here east
@@HokeOutdoors I am seeing relatively stable numbers, but more congregation in medium to larger groups. If we have new birds, I am unaware of them. The New is still up right now from the rain we got this past week, so most birds have moved to parks or onto calm sections of reservoirs and tributaries. The November segments will be solid this year, but nothing to write home about unless we get the northern weather to push birds down everywhere. Nebraska on the other hand is in the good ‘ol days right now and hopefully that will hold until I get back out there around the 21st of November. Late Segment of season will be the big winner this time around on the east coast as the weather we should be getting in the northern states by then should keep the birds headed south. I’m optimistic though...
@@AmericanArmsChannel Gotcha. Yeah I'm expecting for November to be decent if these fronts keep up, hopefully better than last year at least. NE certainly seems to be on fire at the moment. My buddy out there has been limiting out every afternoon after work. Hope they stick around till you get out there!
Fairly new subscriber. Great content. Really enjoy your hunts. Where did you get your camo goose hat? I want to get one. Next step will be to sell your own merchandise. Thanks.
Thank you Curt! Glad to hear you enjoy them! I actually do have my own hats that I sell. I sell those over at theflywayscollective.com/store/. You can also find the hat that I was wearing in this video over there
A couple of question about your rail hunt that might get me to try it. I see you moving through the reeds, are you poling through with the motor trimmed up? Is the Fishing Bay or Taylor's Island/Slaughter Creek area of the Maryland's Eastern Shore viable locations to hunt? Would this be good exercise for a young retriever? What size shot shot (I'm guessing #6 steel)? Thanks!
I was just looking at hunting these and sora this year. Not sure how to do it especially in MN. Any info would be great. My buddy turned me onto woodcock last year and i hit snipe hard this year. Really fun stuff to hunt. Thanks for the vid
Glad you enjoyed! I recommend either using a small boat or kayak and paddling/push polling through some of the marshes y'all have. I really don't know too much about them yet but I will let you know if I learn some more
I have never had a dry pair of waders. Tried several brands and styles. I have just dealt with it as a fact of life. lol. Might have to check these out.
I was the same way up until this season, I have not got wet in my High N Drys yet though. Only time will tell on if that stays the case but from everything I've heard from those who use them they hold up very well
Have you ever hunted any of upland birds in Virginia? Ruffed Grouse season just kicked off and Quail season should be starting up here soon too. Might be a fun day out, bit different from waterfowl
I have done a little upland hunting in Virginia but not too much. I grew up deer hunting in the blue ridge so I did get the chance to grouse hunt over dogs a handful of times. I went on a woodcock/quail hunt with friends a couple years back but haven’t had the opportunity since. I’m hoping to get out and try the grouse or quail at least once this season
Cool episode Thomas. Ive met Ian on a few occasions he has always been a very nice guy in my opinion. If we can get a dipper hint together like we talked about, I'd really like to check those waders out. Keep'em coming buddy.
Thanks Shayne! Both Ian and Brian are definitely good people from the time I've spent with them. I'd be happy to let you check out the waders whenever we can get together! Hope y'all have been seeing a few already, I think we got our first push of big ducks in the swamps out here yesterday

There isn't much meat on them but they are delicious. I take them whenever I get a chance while duck hunting. Are yall allowed to take them from a moving boat like that?
Honestly I was surprised how much we got off them, the legs definitely made up for their small breasts. We can shoot out of a moving boat but you can't be under motor power so you pole or drift with the wind
