In the first cideo about the gas valve What i seen some thimes if you have to hit the gas valve and then the heat starts, what I seen is that the vent on the gas regulator is plug of mud that some insects put in the vent of the regulator.
I had problems with mine on a -9 degree night last night. Derned draft inducer fan broke and slipped off the motor shaft. New draft inducer assembly will take two days to get here so I epoxied the fan on to the motor shaft/coupler. So far so good, but my fingers are crossed pretty tight in hopes it hangs on until the new part comes in tomorrow. I’m blessed to have done a little work with a buddy of mine who owns an HVAC company so I’ve learned a few tricks here and there.
cool im subscribing to most of these hvac youtubers lol maybe one day ill have videos i graduate from trade school in 3 months now lol i cant wait to go work
Yes, especially when you see the high temp wires leading to switch are burnt up on this furnace. It makes me skeptical of how often this thing overheats, or if there's something going on with that heat exchanger.
that limit was very crispy, I wonder if the blower or board failed at one point or filter/air flow issue and it kept banging the limit cooking it. that insulation had to get very hot to burn like that or maybe it stuck closed with poor air flow and overheated that bad.
Yup. Unlike a natural gas/propane furnace that can do a pre-purge when someone wants to constantly re-set it to try and get it to fire, an oil furnace with a working pump/solenoid/and good nozzle will still give the squirts of atomized air/oil into the chamber. This will eventually build up into a nice wet mess when too many resets are made in an attempt to get it working. That's why the control goes into a hard re-set until an actual tech can come take a look at what stopped working. I've fired up some that had too many resets that looked like an old coal train running with the amount of dark smoke was coming out the chimney
@@JeffsHVACAdventures He's lucky he didn't wind up like a deceased younger couple from 30 years ago in my area, they were reduced to pieces when the furnace blew. People gotta take this stuff seriously. Good call on the limit, I would have done the same.
Bypassing for testing is done all the time but running?? Nope nada no way !! It’s just asking for a law suit …. A them high limits ?? I have in an emergency installed the short version until the long one came in a went an change it back out for OEM …. lol I have seen some real Hack jobs an I just go 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ the rack ? Honest? My first guess when had 26 at the transformer possible bad board… don’t know why I always suspect the boards🤷🏻♂️ lol probably coz 80% of the time it seams to always be a board… I got to ask why 3/4 of the Teck always tighten a belt like a guitar string 🤦♂️🙄 granite there’s a fine line between two loose and too tight but when you can play tone on the belt that’s entirely too tight. Seems like I loosen a lot of belts up when I go in behind someone else all it does is tear the bearings out…. Great to have you posting again ❤

Great advice on the limit switch!

Thanks Tom!

Hell yea brother. Thanks for the sub. Good luck out there.
You’re %100 right about limits , it’s a red line to not cross

Nice job.Enjoyed watching!
Thanks
Nice work 😊
Thanks

Good one Jeff ... Thx
Thanks Eddy!
Idk anything about hvac systems but definitely an interesting video !
Thanks.
Nice work Jeff.
Thanks!
Super video thanks my brother
Nice video again man
Thanks
was the cause of the bad limit switch a plugged air filter?
Filter was clean.
At the radio station did you get the panel from the parking lot and reinstall it?
Yea. Had to find a guy with a key to the fenced in area first.
just had the same thing with the high limit, 18 year old furance with a high limit stuck open. Friday night, supposed to get to 0 here soon.
🥶
Great video what is duck smoke
Commercial equipment require a smoke detection system to cut low voltage in the presence of smoke
Any equipment over 2000 cfm requires a duct smoke detector.
Bingo!
Check the temp rise and gas pressure on that resi-furnace?
That main limit sure looked burnt.
I wasn’t going to go any further without a working limit in place. I’ll get the new limit in and diag further.
What state do you operate out of?
Eastern Shore of Maryland
Solid trouble shooting
NEVER jump out a limit/rollout/dss switch. Period.
Slightly different story, just had a guy burn his house down resetting his oil furnace over and over. 🤦

@Jason-wc3fh Plenty of people blowing themselves up over pilot lights too.
Very dangerous!
