There's something oddly magical about these older builds. Like even from the start, it looked like Bungie was cooking up something special.
Amen
Yeah true
That quote from Jason really resonates. It perfectly describes old Bungie.
Now their games are plagued with FOMO and micro transactions
2:07 holy shit in the developer commentary for halo 2 they mentioned that the seraph was based on the original covenant tank design for halo ce. really cool to see that here
It's so cool they brought back some of the oldest designs see here in some way
I like the initial Forerunner design. I like to think there’s an alternate universe where this is the aesthetic design for the game.
That early control room reminds me of the Ark's control room in Halo 3 with the long bridge and all the Halo Ring holograms.
True. It's like a shorter version of that.
I really want to meet the man who designed halo's artstyle. It's really beautiful especially in the pre release builds of 1999. How the warthog went from being a military jeep to what it is now is simply genius
Crazy coming back to this after the dig site release
Nice ‘why’ intro animation, when it disappears, it should transition right instead of left, very cool video anyways
Seems like Halo Infinite and Halo Wars 2 are the fully realized versions of what Halo was originally supposed to be at various stages.
This video is now more relevant then ever cus of the update to mcc coming :0 live long and goodluck fellow halo enthusiast
Actually Marcus Lehto said the 2 vehicles next to the Ghost are Forerunner vehicles.
I love this series and would love to see a similar series done for Halo 2!
I like Master Chief in black it’s nice
That early version of the control room is really cool, I kinda wish they'd incorporated it elsewhere. Although I can definitely see some of its influence on the Ark's control room in Halo 3.
I wish I could have a chance to play one of these builds
I wish someone could make a Halo CE Custom Map or a Halo Wars fan spin-off that had a close resemblance to this versions
Sucks that Halo’s development doesn’t have the following that the Half Life games do. An awe inspiring amount of content is made to honor the original versions of HL2. Nevertheless Halo is lucky as there’s countless games with fascinating prototypes that get ignored.
@@protocetid The source code to Half-Life has been made available for nearly ten years, which gave a new breath of life for the game. No such hope for Halo, unfortunately.
@@ichoffski4707 Valve never released the source code for GoldSrc, Xash3D was made from scratch and only mimics it. Halo 1 has enough tools to do some proto recreations, the issue is that nobody’s interested enough.
edit: I misunderstood your comment cus I did not reread my original one ha. Rewrote my reply to make sense.
Ngl I would've wanted to see the older version of halo when it was supposed to be an open world.
I don’t think there was open world concepts until around halo 3’s development when they were planning spin offs
@@jcdenton3512 there's literally video footage of an open world halo ring with dynamic weather and explotable buildings and shit.
Cinnamon-Skateboarding I’m pretty sure that’s just when they were making a game like tribes, where you’d have 2 factions duking it out on one map.
5:10 and then we would later end up getting a helicopter in the form of the falcon in Halo Reach.
Well researched and edited mate. Good work.
awesome series dude subbed
Great videos man keep it up!
props for not using the word beta
Great content
You know the videos more than good if nobody disliked it
That jet is oddly familiar...
Good work & very much underrated! I made sure to give you a shoutout in my Discord server!
These look well produced videos, you should of staggered the release though.
How do you get it to work
hey can you tell me where you got that jason jones quote from? im thinking of using it in a school project lol
"Hello everyone it's Why here"
Yeah but, *Why* here?
Destroyed halo ring and large open worlds? You sure these aren't early builds of halo infinite?×
Halo: San Andreas😂
I wonder if these builds still exist anywhere, maybe some old hard drive in a bungee employees basement
