I remember watching this online back in 2001, I was 16 years old. This demo alone compelled me to get an Xbox. At the time this kind of gameplay, graphics and sound design was revolutionary. It was a great time to be a gamer and witness this. Now we have Halo Infinite in the works for Microsoft's new Xbox console codenamed Scarlett, hopefully it invokes the same feelings of awe and wonder as Halo CE did. Anyone reading this comment in the year 2030 and beyond know that this game right here was a turning point on how to do first person shooters right on a console and in many ways is still the blueprint on how shooters are made today.

@@ghst6173 Nope. For some reason Bungie removed that animation. You can still use the flashlight in the finished product, but I guess Bungie removed the button pushing animation to save space for the xbox hardware or some other resources. That's just my theory why. Wish it was kept in.
CleanserOfNoobs It may be because they changed the flashlight system to come out of his helmet so he could use it with all weapons instead of just the assault rifle or a couple other weapons. In the final game you can see it comes out of his helmet
There was actually an animation when you turned on your flashlight on the side of the rifle. But Bungie removed that feature, probably because they had to sacrifice for hardware limitations at the time.
Part of the problem was they originally had the idea of having the assault rifle fire by requiring to squeeze the trigger each time you wanted to fire, you couldn't not just hold it down. Thank god they ditched that idea before ship.

That specific part of the track (from “Truth & Reconciliation Suite”) was only on the OST, not in-game for CE. Same goes for the Halo Theme “Rock Remix”towards the end.

I want any new Halo fan watching this that may have heard or been told that current Bungie isn't the same Bungie that made Halo or that all the Bungie people left to go to 343i back when they were formed or any of the nonsense I've seen over the years to look at the two people that are demoing the game, Jason Jones who introduced himself as co-founder of Bungie and LEAD on Halo and know that he is still at Bungie. People have come and gone over the years at Bungie but many of the core people from back in the day are still there. Don't believe the lies.
Halo one had a very short dev time. The version we got didn't have a very long development time at all. And they had to transfer from PC/Mac to Xbox (a brand new console at the time) at the last minute.

I was so pumped for this game on the PC platform until Microsoft claimed it for XBOX exclusive and then gave us the worst PC port of a game ever. This video was so promising for a fantastic FPS but was completely sullied by repetitive map design, baby's first FPS regenerative health/shield gimmicks and the least engaging storyline.
At least Bungie made 2 and 3 better when they were still the primary developer of the Halo series. Halo 1 may be weak in terms of copy paste map structures but the AI, weapons, and vehicles is what made the game so good. Each enemy is unique in their own way in this game, and the weapons and vehicles are very solid too. I thought Halos 1-3 were the unmasked jewels, but everything after 3 imo just left a bad taste in my mouth. Hope 343 learns their lesson with the next game.
You call em gimmicks, I call em revolutionary game design that add a whole new tactical sense not found in games prior. Fact: there's more on your feet tactical thinking required on this on Legendary than 90% shooters out there. Indisputable.
The storyline was great and the map design repeated in only three levels and only for parts of two of them. However, more importantly, the gameplay did NOT repeat in those levels thanks to new enemy encounters snd vehicles. When people say half of Halo is a repeat, they're wrong. It's more like 1/7th if you actually think about where it repeats.
