I used to not like the patena look as a kid. I was attracted to the shiny hot rod that had 1000 hrs of body work. But now as an adult I realize now how rare an original paint job is and then finding one that’s so good you just clear it to preserve it and cherish that original paint and clean up the frame like shaes truck, clean, my truck was wrecked so that original stuff is no more and it’s a shame. But one day I will find that perfect patena truck

Hi Rob. Have you tested or noticed any pressure drop when using a remote oil filter kit? Not an extra bypass filter but just relocating the stock filter.
Another thread Im following mentioned a substantial drop.
Any thoughts on why that may or may not be?
    Thanks

You shouldn’t have a drop as long as you have the system sized right. A lot of industrial equipment have remote filters with 20 foot of lines

@@elroyelblander6277 i watched Steve Morris talk about teams using different weight fluids in there transmission for different stall speeds . I did not care about racing just tired of the loose stock convertor. I run 10 wt in my power steering pump in my tdi Jetta . Works good for me

Hey Rob in your experience is there ever been a seal at the tail housing of an a518 to keep the ATF from going into the “dead space” where the trans and TC bolt up? Or is the only seal at the TC?

Not really. I just rtv the two parts together and it doesn’t leak in the ground ( I know it’s no the right way )

Should make a nice ride . I think its possible to add 3 gen brakes on that axle on the front . I not a fan of the automatic however set up properly they work good . The .69 overdrive should give go fuel economy. That truck with the ve pump and the .69 and lock up should give really good fuel economy. The engine as it is should spool the turbo nicely..or i head that combination does . Should be a really nice truck.. i also like to seal up the transmission to tc with ultra gray . Dont foget the seal on the tc range shaft . Absolutely on the hydrobooster conversion.. If you run into a camber problem on that axle you can face the hubs in a Lathe with the right off set to fix that . I done that on my Dads old first gen 4x4

I am not sure on the brakes yet. If we need to do new brakes on it I think we will look into more.

@@CUTTERUPROB yes sir .the hydrobooster with the psi set up a bit on the power steering pump should be nice upgrade . I just happened on the 3rd gen brake conversion on the first gen 4x4 on the net . Since power steering pump pressure is what makes the hydrobooster work the pressure can be set up some . That and the flow by opening up the fitting a bit . Good luck
