That is an 8Sinn VCT shoulder plate. The right side handle is a Shape with an Arri rosette on it and the left side handle is just a couple of spare Tilta parts I had lying around. To be completely blunt, the 8Sinn has some fine features but the most important feature is its weakness - the actual shoulder pad is way too hard. However, it is magnetic, so I'm looking to have a more pliable pad made up for it.
a shoulder rig that does not sit right on the shoulder? comon, this is a frankenstein rig - and still it is not working as it should. look at 06:03 - the metal ending sits on your shoulder, the pad is in the air.
This only works because of the servo lens, which is f/4.4, which is too slow for a lot of shooting styles/situations. Canon handles are not compatible with the C70, so there's no way to start/stop recording. Works with Sony handles, but that means you have to buy something else, from a separate manufacturer, that kind of works, but isn't great.
Both Chris and I have used tons of camcorders over the years and we loved (and probably still do) love them! I miss the big, heavy Sony D35 I shot with back in the mid 2000s.
I would love to see any footage you've shot with the C70 & 18-80. What EF adapter are you using?
Nice Video Guys!
Thank you for this video! Can you also let us know what is the shoulder rig you are using? I can’t see it in the links in the description.

I really enjoy this sort of video, but I’m finding that they’re validating my instinct to pick up a camcorder
So glad you liked the video, and thanks for the comment!
