I thought I was going crazy when I got the watermelon line and didn't really enjoy the smell. Your description is so accurate: it's like an artificial watermelon jolly rancher. But I love the product anyways bc it's feels so nice! Personally I don't mind fragrance (in fact I kind of like fragrance) but this just doesn't smell like the "fresh watermelon" they advertised about at all.
It goes to show you how people very different reactions and preferences to products. Glow Recipe has become my holy grail brand. It amazes me scent is such a big issue to people and that some people in reviews throw it out for the fragrance without even using it. I understand if it breaks you out, but smell is no issue to me so long as the product works as intended!
Everyone isn't bashing them, however it's overpriced, overhyped brand. I have used them since they released their OG Watermelon night mask and tried several other things. They feel good on your face but if you're looking for true skincare benefits, there really isn't much in them to me.

Thanks for posting this brand review! I find that glow recipe products get pretty hyped up because of their aesthetic and sort of gimmicky products. For me personally, their products aren't horrible. They work just fine and the fragrance doesn't bother me too much. I did really enjoy the face mist. It just doesn't feel like it's worth the higher price point.
I use the plum serum, blueberry cleanser, avocado eye cream and the watermelon mask. I think it is worth the price tbh, the products have lasted me a long time and they rlly make my skin feel better and the eye cream works very well.
I really like their sister brand, Sweet Chef! It’s more affordable and they don’t have fragrance. I think their cleanser is the only product that has minimal fragrance.
@@reemi1998 very true! I believe it’s lavender and it’s usually the very last ingredient. My skin doesn’t mind it but I can definitely see it being irritating for those who can’t use or prefer not to use any fragrances - synthetic, natural, or essential oils 😔
I never used Glow recipe due to the price, but was always curious about the retinol and vitamin c products, and the banana cream. But retinol is soooo low down on the ingredients of the sleeping mask
The avocado melt face mask was legit. I’m not sure why they stopped selling it. My skin was so clear and glowy. If I didn’t use it for a while you could tell my skin would dull and start breaking out. They discontinued it and I have yet to find an awesome retinol/ mask that works they way that did 😫
I have a few products from glow recipie … and I actually like them I have normal skin so I didn’t notice any issues . I hope you can find a better line for your skin type and more bang for your buck
Glow Recipes fragrances are a hit or miss for most ppl. I like the concept. However, Fragrance products eventually break me out anyways with my sensitive skin and all. It’s okay if it’s trying to hide other smells but I really don’t want more dark marks or sensitivity.
I use that watermelon mask in the morning for 15 minutes instead of at night I don't like it as an overnight mask but like it as a morning mask a few times a week x
I’ve tried several Glow Recipe’s products myself, but I have combo/oily acne prone skin. Personally, I don’t mind subtle/light fruity fragrances and don’t have sensitive skin. I didn’t like the texture of the watermelon sleeping mask either.🙁 I have the avocado sleeping mask, which is a bit heavy on my skin. However, I got it because of the encapsulated retinol. The banana cream was ok, but again it was a bit heavy on my skin type.😐 I’m currently using the papaya cleansing balm, and I like it. The blueberry cleanser was nice as well. The pineapple serum was quite good.🙂 I guess it depends on skin type, expectations, and personal preference on whether or not a product is good or bad.🤷🏻♀️
Stratia Night Shift is an encapsulated retinol in a ceramide and cholesterol base. It's in an airless pump. You may like it if you are looking for a new encapsulated retinol.
@@LaciRae I believe there are several reviews on UA-cam for it. That's how I found out about the product. I really like it when I've been doing my 12-hour work days as a all-in-one product

@@LaciRae yes, i bought set from cult beauty, i love the banana thing in the pot. Very small. Will consider to buy the big one. I agree with her on the consistency weird especially the sleeping mask.
Umi Salmah, i do prefer the consistency of the avocado mask over the watermelon one. especially during winter when my skin gets drier. but i think the watermelon consistency is kind of nice for summer.
Nope, couldn’t open mine. The sealed part itself is not a screw top. The fact that it stands with the lid side down probably contributes to it so that there aren’t accidental leakages. Tradition spray mists don’t need to worry about that since they’re lid side up.
I personally did not like the Glow Recipe products. They were all overly scented and the masks/lotions caused a lot of pilling and did not work well with other products.
I was sooo hesitant to try out the banana moisturizer because I reeeeeally want to!! but if its a miss, its an expensive miss :/ but I think I'll order it now (I have oily skin)
I found the only way for me to really use the watermelon sleep mask is to use minimal products in my normal routine (double cleanse, toner, moisturizer - usually the watermelon moisturizer from this line) and then waiting like at least an hour and then putting the mask on. I definitely like the avocado one better, but I like this one for the summer since it’s that thinner texture.
I love this comprehensive brand reviews! so helpful! I have always been curious about glow recipe but the higher price tag put me off. Not that I wouldn't spend more money on a product but the only reason I would spend more is if it was genuinely AMAZING. I'm ok with Innisfree its affordable, and I don't mind the scents usually. Also my skin hasn't reacted in a very negative way to their products. Thank for this video! Have you heard of the Korean brand Yadah? I've been curious of a bunch of smaller indie Korean brands lately! just an idea! thanks again love your work
I'm not a fragrance in skin care person. But glow recipe got it right for me. It's stunning and fresh and clean and I like that it's only 0.05 of the product
Hey 👋 🥰 I can relate about sensitive eyes. The only eye retinol I can tolerate is the Murad retinol eye serum. You can use it 360° around the eye including the eyelids! Does anyone else love the Murad retinol eye serum?
Love your makeup for this video. Your review kind of reinforced my impression of Glow Recipe as a brand - middling products that are WAY overpriced. I always thought their products were priced $10 to $20 more than they should be. Doesn't look like I'll be buying their products anytime soon.
Hi ... I loved your video and found a lot of what you were saying to be in alignment with my experience a bit. I am an OG user of this line, since 2017. My first product purchased was the Sleep Mask you spoke about. I actually didn't mind the smell, but the pilling you spoke of I noticed that immediately. I also feel the same as you about the silicone type feeling of it. It's strange! Again, started to use it in 2017 and went through several jars, finally to notice it didn't do anything at all and I also applied several layers. I personally now find a much better experience by using a lightweight moisturizer and apply Vaseline (slugging they refer to now) to my skin. Now THAT is an experience when you wake up. I have never had my skin look so good with that cheap method. Whether you put any ingredients beneath it or not. I will say it feels refreshing, but then it goes away. I also decided to try to Dew Drops as well as the Moisturizer from the Watermelon line. I have to be honest, although it all feels nice on the face, it all absorbs very quickly and I have NEVER noticed any skincare benefits at all from this brand. I think I was just initially intrigued because it "felt nice" so since it felt nice it must work, was my stupid theory. I have tried these things and really just wasn't impressed. I have combination skin, leaning towards dry, and I do not like all the added BHA either due to moderately dry skin (nothing bad but it definitely made it worse). I feel like this line is so overhyped. Some of it is OK beneath makeup, like the Dew Drops, but that's about the extent to me. To note: I do not have sensitive skin at all and the smell is ok with me, but the products are over priced and don't really do a thing?
I’m legitimately curious if this channel is focused on the negative during reviews not trying to knock you just was looking for more info on Glow Recipe came across this video and it was like all negative not who it’ll work for and or if there’s some good in there. And the fragrance was like every other sentence just some criticism. I did think you did a lot of research and you’re gorgeous and well spoken. Maybe it’s just a trash brand in your opinion I was just curious or is this channel more relative to makeup with skincare?
I love your opinions whether you like something or not, but the most important thing for me is I VALUE and respect your opinion Morgan. You’re honest and I subscribed to you because of your K-Beauty Skincare content in the first place. I actually don’t mind fragrance but like you said I think it’s a very personal choice and depending on your skin type. Thank you for doing this, I’ve always wanted to pick up something from Glow Recipe but was never sure what, I do like the sound of their Sweet Chef line and I’ve heard great things about those products so maybe I’ll lean more towards that line instead. Thank you again and have a great weekend Morgan! Xx
I returned everything, the company roped me into thinking I needed 6 steps from them ALONE and it seems like every. single. one. of their products has HA in them and my skin is mildly sensitive, mildly dry with mild redness/rosacea. I was NOT impressed after 4mo of use my skin barrier was destroyed. I switched to Tatcha Rice Wash and Dewy Cream, along with using the Supergoop! Every. Single. Face. watery lotion!
I would choose a fragranced product over an non-fragraned product if everything else was even. I enjoy the three Glow Recipe products that I've been using. Dry skin but it's not overly sensitive.
Good review 👍🏻 I wish glow recipe would come out with products that don't have aha. I was also very worried about layering products but I enjoyed the products I tired. The toner: I also found very harsh on my skin, so I switched to using it once a week and I've noticed that my skin is much smoother. Vitamin c: I really loved it! And I actually like the smell hahaha 😅 reminds me of pineapple filled breads. Banana cream: I enjoyed it. I don't think it's life changing but it is nice. As someone who's not a fan of Banana smells I can hardly smell it. Whenever I use the watermelon products I can smell it for a while after application, but the moisturizer I can't smell unless I purposely sniff it. Your description of it smelling like Laffy taffy was spot on
I was pretty hesitant at first but I caved when I saw mikayala from TIKTOK try the dew drops and the toner. Honestly, I struggle from super dry facial skin and the trio she recommended helped me so much and pretty quickly!
I love so many Glow Recipe products: avocado is for sure my fav, but the watermelon niacinamide just clogged up my pores and my skin didn’t like it at all the rest I love
I get why you wouldn't like the scent in the products, but your first description of the mask you said that you did not like it as if you put something on top of it --it would pill. Ummm , it's a mask so I wasn't sure what you meant unless I misunderstood you. Having said that I loved the video and you explained things with such clarity!
Glow recipe should be making unscented products as an option for people who'd prefer it! I think they believe the fruit theme of there products cater to the all over theme of the brands audience tbh I'm not into it & very unlikely I'll ever buy anything from them.

she looks like a warm but there’s a chance she could be neutral
Warm neutral probably
What cleansing balms do you like? I remember you liking cleansing oils, but would love to know more about balms!
New viewer so just asking - is she a skincare professional or just a beauty youtuber?
I’m legitimately curious if this channel is focused on the negative during reviews not trying to knock you just was looking for more info on Glow Recipe came across this video and it was like all negative not who it’ll work for and or if there’s some good in there. And the fragrance was like every other sentence just some criticism. I did think you did a lot of research and you’re gorgeous and well spoken. Maybe it’s just a trash brand in your opinion I was just curious or is this channel more relative to makeup with skincare?
I used the watermelon mask as an exfoliating mask
Could u make a all sunscreen video?
I've always maintained that the Glow Recipe Pineapple Vitamin C Serum smells like barbecue chicken marinade.
Smells like pineapple fried rice to me lol 😂
I would choose a fragranced product over an non-fragraned product if everything else was even. I enjoy the three Glow Recipe products that I've been using. Dry skin but it's not overly sensitive.
Good review 👍🏻
I wish glow recipe would come out with products that don't have aha.
Your description of it smelling like Laffy taffy was spot on
What blush is that?? So pretty
This toner breaks me out every time I use it :(
Huh, these are pricier than I expected. If they were a bit cheaper I would've tried something, but now I'm kinda meh about it.
I was pretty hesitant at first but I caved when I saw mikayala from TIKTOK try the dew drops and the toner. Honestly, I struggle from super dry facial skin and the trio she recommended helped me so much and pretty quickly!
I was very disappointed with these products too. Way way too scented for me. I luv fragrance in my face products. But these were way too much.
Didn't love the plum serum was like so thin n watery did eff all on my face
What do u recommend
The orange eyeliner is so so good! 🍊🥕🍑
I love so many Glow Recipe products: avocado is for sure my fav, but the watermelon niacinamide just clogged up my pores and my skin didn’t like it at all the rest I love
Hey girly! My face broke out 2 days after using. I wasn’t sure if it was because of all of them or just certain ones that broke me out.
@@kiaranedd3852 I don’t like it either, just didn’t work out
Can review some honest company skincare or makeup
I get why you wouldn't like the scent in the products, but your first description of the mask you said that you did not like it as if you put something on top of it --it would pill. Ummm , it's a mask so I wasn't sure what you meant unless I misunderstood you. Having said that I loved the video and you explained things with such clarity!
I have the watermelon niociminide and didn’t even realize it has a scent 😂
Plz make a video featuring retinol products ur skin does tolerate. Thank u ☺️
The Glow Recipe Toner literally saved my skin!
I really liked the video.I would love to see more in this format, maybe CosRX?
Your makeup is bomb! What blush and lip product did you use?
I burn a candle when I do my face to get the "sensorial experience" without irritating my skin.
I love this review 😊 with that said can I buy off the watermelon stuff off you lol 😝
Skincare is best when it's fragrance free and just makes your skin soft
The watermelon is so so faint in scent I cannot believe how much you made comment on it 😭
It's really nothing more than nice packaging. The products are mediocre, at best.
Not a fan of glow recipe.. I’d rather use laneige or primera from Sephora 😀
Glow recipe should be making unscented products as an option for people who'd prefer it! I think they believe the fruit theme of there products cater to the all over theme of the brands audience tbh I'm not into it & very unlikely I'll ever buy anything from them.
Am I the only one that thinks the toner is just pure grease 😩
What you think of rare beauty brand? Vulnerable line?
That toner stinks can't stand the smell! Lol I agree with you the bottle looks like lube (mist)
I love the banana smell I was worried it was too banana scented but nope, Sportsgirl have a dupe for it I have it 😃
She gave a first impression review since she doesn’t actually use them enough to see the actual results due to her scent bias
How cream mask glow
I really couldn't do the scents either.
