i've never had issues returning items to glow recipe, even when i've bought them during a sale. that said, the banana cream and lip balm stick are both final sale because they are actually discontinued products that GR just brought back for a limited release to celebrate their 10th anniversary. so i think they're just not accepting returns since they are not regular products but a special in a way. also, in defense of the sunscreen: the GR sunscreen is water resistant (40 min), while the round lab isn't. it's hard to find a water-resistant cruelty-free k-beauty stick!
I love glow recipe too, it's my favourite and only western brand that I actually like. I really love the idea of Geek & Gorgeous. In practice, I don’t use many of their products (for example, I use SAP instead of L-AA personally; adapalene instead of retinaldehyde). It’s a case of “I can see how great this brand is, even though their products don’t align perfectly with my needs.” Hopefully that makes sense!
I actually got the GR cleansing balm at 40% off during their BF sale last year. It looked like they gave their more popular products a lesser discount, and a higher discount on the least popular ones.
The cloud berry was the last product I tried from Glow Recipe too. And I also ended up returning it. I don’t hate the brand by any means, but I might have romanticized it slightly! This product helped snapped me out of my hypnotic affair with GR. Don’t know exactly what it was: the smell, the oils, a combo, something else, but my skin hated it.
The CosRX HA serum works great with my NuFace. I was also mad the watermelon mist didn’t open but madder the toner was drying to me; the manyo bifada toner has a similar mister.
I’ve been waiting for this. I only bought the Gr body lotion. & liked it, but very hard to get out of pump . The niacine dew drops look glowy, but seem like I’d run through a med bottle so fast . Thx Alice !!🌷🌷
Happy to help! The dew drops last longer for Ara than for me; I suspect that using it as a primer means using more than using it as a serum. Kind of an interesting thought (though I feel it does make sense!)
I was all about the plum serum but then they released the plum cream (which is still my go-to moisturizer today), so I stopped with the serum because I didn't think I needed that much hyaluronic acid.
This is actually my favorite brand to buy from at Sephora. Cheaper than Youth to the People and Drunk Elephant, two other brands I occasionally dabble in. Fragrance/essential oils often irritate my skin whenever they are in products (especially limonene and linalool - always!). However, I never experience fragrance irritation from this brand. Before watching your ranking, I will state my favorite and least favorite product I've tried from the brand: Favorite: Salicylic Acid + Mandelic Strawberry Serum. Love this as a nice gentle exfoliation option to give my skin a break from Holifrog's strong Halo chemical exfoliant. Additionally, the texture is very fluffy and very nourishing. Least favorite: I haven't tried anything I hated from the brand...but probably the SPF? Noticable white cast..surprisingly so for a hybrid sunscreen (I've tried mineral spfs that have less of a white cast on my brown skin tone than this - probably due their beige tints). Why buy this pricey SPF when Korean & Japanese sunscreens are on the market? And if I do buy an American face SPF, definitely the Copperstone Oil Free Shine Control SPF 45. Something else I wanna note: I thought the Papaya cleansing balm and Hyaluronic Acid serum are amazing sensorial experiences!! But the former is hard to wash off, and the latter gives me tiny pimples if used with any other product that have hyaluronic acid in it. Too much exposure basically. I love that serum!! Just hard to incorporate in a multi-step routine I do think they are the BEST at textures!! Beautiful packaging too.
Heyo! I feel like we might share perspectives on a lot haha. Curious to hear your thoughts on the blur drops though, as I think that one has to take the position of my personal least favorite. Yikes, the smell!
@@AliceintheRabbitHole Got around to watching the video. As always, great content!! Not surprised anymore really. Yes honestly we have very similar perspectives. I have products that I believe give me a cosmetic "blur" already, for less, plus other skin benefits. Two examples: Numbuzin No. 4 collagen pudding and the CosRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream (not one of my fav Korean spfs, just like the finish) both give me a nice "my skin but better" look. Often within an AHA formulation. I will say, I do have complaints regarding the Glow Recipe packaging as you stated. The serum bottles never pump out the remaining product. Hello Alice! ❤❤❤Did you watch when Glow Recipe was on Shark Tank in 2023? I did, I can't remember if they got a deal, but I think they ended doing fine on their own! I used to use only Glow Recipe - I do love the brand, my skin doesn't anymore. For whatever reason - my skin has a reaction when I use anything from that line - I just can't do it anymore. I am sad about that - because the Watermelon Toner and the Niacinamide where my favorites! I have angered my skin way too many times, and it has finally said enough!
I've seen online that the Heimish Watermelon Moisture Soothing Gel Cream is a dupe for the Glow Recipe one. I'm not sure how true this is as I've yet to try Glow Recipe's, but the Heimish cream is perfect as a daytime moisturizer. Soothing, cooling, & lightweight. It hydrates without the heavy feel. I wish it didn't come in a jar though, tube packaging is more hygienic.
I loved the papaya balm. But these days I try to keep the cleansing balms and oils at less than 20 bucks. There is always a sale somewhere some brand. No need to wait twice a year to buy it. 🤷🏽♀️
I just purchased the GR Avocado cleanser for the first time and I've been wondering why it is such hard work trying to squeeze the product out of a full tube. So I guess I now have my answer - they fixed the packaging so much it's gone the other way!
Hey Alice! Your outfit is very beautiful, also love your honest reviews, it is refreshing to watch your content. Could you please do a review on ginseng pdrn by Vt. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it
Their packaging is cute but for the price point I really want to be able to get all the product. I remember krave beauty took that feedback and made theirs have a liner that shrunk inside the packaging, not sure what its called but I'd love if glow recipe would do the same. I love their niacinamide serum and I got so many uses out of it after turning it upside down to scrape the product out. It's just not very glamourous to cannibalize the cute packaging 😅
I didn’t love the texture of the GR Cleansing Balm. I found it “gluggy” and harder to rinse off in comparison to KBeauty ones. Having said that am using Aprilskin which is oilier but need less and am loving it.
@@AliceintheRabbitHole Part of the “enjoyment” also included a constant price comparison, so I felt like I was wasting money. Also felt like the jar was heavy and glass & oil dangerous combo for people like me with wonky thumbs. Prefer recyclable plastic.
I've been looking at their Vitamin C because I want to add a Vitamin C derivative to use at night with my Tretinoin. I'm looking at stimulate collegen (not necessarily to target brightness). I've been struggling to find K Beauty Vitamin Cs without Ascorbic Acid that target collegen. Any thoughts?
Yep it’s very difficult to find k-beauty vitamin c products. Neogen has a SAP vitamin c that I bought, but honestly? It changed color on me (which I find quite odd!) makes it hard to comfortably recommend 😞 Are you open to L-AA during the day instead? Melano cc (J-Beauty, 5% L-AA) is actually one of the best vit c products in Asian Beauty imho!
@@AliceintheRabbitHole I use the Timeless during the day. I've been looking to add Vitamin C at night too to double down on the benefits - especially collegen stimulation. The Glow Recipe is the only thing I've found with all the derivatives but it's too pricey for my preference.
I've never tried Glow Recipe because they're just so expensive where I live, and most reviews by locals are pretty underwhelming, definitely not as hyped up as most influencers make the brand out to be. Why would I waste money on expensive "K-beauty" that might not work for me, when I can buy actual K-beauty for a fraction of the price!

I love their niacinamide serum and I got so many uses out of it after turning it upside down to scrape the product out. It's just not very glamourous to cannibalize the cute packaging 😅
Yes!! It’s a hassle to get the last bit of product out! An airless pump probably would help a ton - now I’m wondering why they don’t do that!! 👀
I didn’t love the texture of the GR Cleansing Balm. I found it “gluggy” and harder to rinse off in comparison to KBeauty ones. Having said that am using Aprilskin which is oilier but need less and am loving it.
YES, same!! I do feel they fixed that part in the reformulation thankfully (though KB still wins for better price points!)
@@AliceintheRabbitHole Part of the “enjoyment” also included a constant price comparison, so I felt like I was wasting money. Also felt like the jar was heavy and glass & oil dangerous combo for people like me with wonky thumbs. Prefer recyclable plastic.
Uh-huh, Glow Recipe. That's nice. What's your nail polish? 😊
Cute hat
I've been looking at their Vitamin C because I want to add a Vitamin C derivative to use at night with my Tretinoin. I'm looking at stimulate collegen (not necessarily to target brightness). I've been struggling to find K Beauty Vitamin Cs without Ascorbic Acid that target collegen. Any thoughts?
Yep it’s very difficult to find k-beauty vitamin c products. Neogen has a SAP vitamin c that I bought, but honestly? It changed color on me (which I find quite odd!) makes it hard to comfortably recommend 😞
Are you open to L-AA during the day instead? Melano cc (J-Beauty, 5% L-AA) is actually one of the best vit c products in Asian Beauty imho!
@@AliceintheRabbitHole I use the Timeless during the day. I've been looking to add Vitamin C at night too to double down on the benefits - especially collegen stimulation. The Glow Recipe is the only thing I've found with all the derivatives but it's too pricey for my preference.
The toner is the only irreplaceable obe
Both price and fragrance makes Glow Recipe a no for me.
lol you being so blunt makes sense now, you are an aries🔥
🔥
Behind your lips: Outside bones 😂
I've never tried Glow Recipe because they're just so expensive where I live, and most reviews by locals are pretty underwhelming, definitely not as hyped up as most influencers make the brand out to be.
Why would I waste money on expensive "K-beauty" that might not work for me, when I can buy actual K-beauty for a fraction of the price!
Indeed!
I judge people who collect Funkos 😂
Hi Alice ❌️⭕️
Faulty packaging will turn me completely off❌️⭕️
OMG I threw the cloudberry toner away. It was so gross.!!
