Wake Up (It's 1984) - Oingo Boingo from Good Morning Mr. Orwell

This was a live performance by Oingo Boingo from the movie "Good Morning, Mr. Orwell". It was the first international satellite "installation" by Nam June Paik, a South Korean-born American artist often credited with inventing video art. It occurred on New Year's Day, 1984. This was a piece that focused on the positive impact of media, in response to the dystopian vision of George Orwell′s novel "1984."

It was early in the morning, as I recall, January 1, 1984. Nam June Paik was going to do a live, world-wide video mix in celebration of the day, so I popped in a VHS to record the hour, thinking it would be important to archive... and no one else would. The tape is in the closet. I should go look for it.
