It’s one of the most realistic games I’ve ever seen, nobody knows what it is and they’re all genuinely scared, even the big characters that are usually fearless in video games are afraid, when Roy said “you’re not gonna leave me, are you?” It was genuine and I felt that
Dude, I don't care if the horror game has bad physics, gameplay, whatever. I care for it's story, like this game. Walking back and forth games can be boring, but the story kept you invested.
tbh this game is GENUNELY great either way. Solid 9/10 and this is coming for a dude who pretty much dislikes/hates plots and considers gameplay to be 100 times better than plot.
I think that people who criticized the gameplay don’t understand that the repetitive nature was intentional. The point is that your are just doing busy work, going here, going there, while the whole thing is just hopeless in the end. The ending really solidified that for me, you feel the character’s disdain for having to keep fixing the rig, even while you just watch it fall apart around you. This game was one of the best I have played in a long time, gameplay considered.
Credits song goes like this: Being here has caused my sorrow For in the glen I am a stranger Being here has caused my sorrow If only the seas of Barra Would pour down these hillsides Being here has caused my sorrow Ship of white, do not refuse to ferry me I cannot walk to the Western Islands Being here has caused my sorrow I'd pass to winward of Eigg and Canna Over to gray Barra of the waves Being here has caused my sorrow In my heart I'm heavy with longing No fiddle nor speech will ease my burden Being here has caused my sorrow The sound of the ocean ever calling Come back, my dearest, to your homeland Being here has caused my sorrow Oh sun above, 'tis little wonder The glory of joy that does surround you Being here has caused my sorrow Moving from the glen at evening O'er to the kind and distant ocean Being here has caused my sorrow Tonight you'll kiss the sea of Barra While I'm below unfriendly mountains Being here has caused my sorrow For in the glen I am a stranger Being here has caused my sorrow (This deserves a pin so ppl know the lyrics)
I just wonder if Suez and the other loved ones ever learned that the oil rig is gone. Their special someone is never gonna come home to them. You know.. just so they can have that bit of clarity in knowing that their person isn’t alive anymore and they will stop sending letters.
I know this game was pretty much a walking sim with stealth, but the story was so rich that it made you keep going. A story of a man who ran away from his family and his problems, now forced to face horrors beyond comprehension for all of mankinds sake, and at the end, he finally takes his life into his hands.
Gameplay was mediocre but the voice acting and dialogue felt genuine. I'll probably never play this ever again after beating it the first time but it was a good ride while it lasted.
It’s supposed to feel repetitive. It’s about trying your best to fix the rig, even with your characters disdain, going back and forth, but still seeing destruction around you, making it even more hopeless in the end… If you’re annoyed about repetition
Played half, got bored with the stereotypical horror game nonsense, go here, go there, go back here. Thanks for the ending. Edit: for all the new comments saying that I didn't get the story or didn't get this, oh I got it and it's borrriiinnngggg
@@Maggozonk you can get more creative than go here, go there, guess what ypu gotta go back to the same spot you were just at, I've seen more creativity in a toilet.
@@TheDuck80085 Fair, but just quitting because of that seems a little unfair, don’t you think? Suppose I should hate call of duty for being another generic shooter based on just the guns. (I could think of better analogies but you get the point)

@@IridosGaming I took a wrong turn and the game saved, but also blocked the pathway back, now I need to go back but I cannot either load to an earlier load or just walk back.
@@Crystal-sl3oo TLOU 2's ending was absolutely terrible, Ellie should have taken her out. The deep message is revenge bad when Ellie had every right to do it.
Great at writing but bad as a horror game. So average. It would be better as movie rather than a videogame. Though even when compared to other "bad horrors" like SOMA it's kinda inferior in story structure. If you remove that "the thing" kinda monster (for example, if rig was just caught on fire) it will still be nearly the same game with nearly the same story. If you remove WAU and "mind-copying" from SOMA, however, it won't be SOMA anymore
Defo more walking simulator than horror game which is what the Chinese rooms are known for. Suppose they wanted to try something different with darker horror vibes

Definitely. The Chinese Room finally hit the nail and it was AWESOME!
It actually tore on my heart strings. I felt terrible for each and everyone one of them on it

I also enjoyed the graphics outside, standing on the oil rig with all the views
Yeah I am very story driven as well. I love walking simulators personally

Yeah I really loved it but I love all the Chinese rooms games. They all have a piece of my heart 💖
Seeing the Derrick's state after Finlay died made me start CRYING.... THEN MORE ONCE CAZ KILLED HIMSELF AND THE FLASHBACK HAPPENED
Omg stop when I was back in their room and he was going out the door I was near bawling crying 😭
Caz is a hero.
He really is 😭
he saved the world
The best game horror in this year for me😢

Come back, my dearest, to your homeland
Being here has caused my sorrow
Oh sun above, 'tis little wonder
The glory of joy that does surround you
Being here has caused my sorrow
Moving from the glen at evening
O'er to the kind and distant ocean
Being here has caused my sorrow
Tonight you'll kiss the sea of Barra
While I'm below unfriendly mountains
Being here has caused my sorrow

I wish there's some sort of wiki for the eldritch horror in the game. Nothing I'd love more than to learn more about it.
