For those interested in this monitor: please be aware that this monitor seems to suffer from a production issue where affected panels are damaged with scratches over the entire width of the monitor. I went through multiple replacements, but 3/3 monitors (all produced May '24) suffered from this issue in varying degrees. My model from July '24 does not have any scratches, but does have some green bleed at the bottom part of the monitor. Not really the kind of quality control issues you expect from a top-of-the-line monitor meant for video editing.

I just ordered mine today after watching this video and few others. I use a Dell Ultrasharp 4k 27" and i love it for day to day usage: coding, youtube, browsing, movies and also gaming. So because I love 4k and the sharp and colorfully image on my monitor I didnt want to give up on thiis. As for gaming I like simracing so I wanted also a curved wide monitor. And I wanted also to have more refresh rate even if my current GPU can't render 4k High details gaming. I game mostly 2K for now. But end of this year I will upgrade also to a more powerfull GPU.
This video was very useful to me. I’m in the middle of upgrading my hardware and finally settled on a PowerSpec G476 with a i9-14900DKF processor and a Nvidia 4090 GPU. On the basis of this review I bought the U4025QW as my monitor and I LOVE IT! You’re right, it’s great for video editing, color correction, character animation, scoring, name it. Thanks for this review! I only wish I’d had this monitor before I upgraded. Any suggestions or reviews for scoring and/or sound effects libraries?
@@JohnSmith-me4ik Sure! They’re “ok” I guess. I did have to wander around through the settings to get the volume up above a whisper, and although the really wide monitor is fabulous for scoring, the speakers you’re asking about are definitely NOT. If you’re going to be scoring, or doing any sound design you’re definitely going to need to add speakers that are a hell of a lot more accurate. I’d shop for some good studio monitor speakers in that case. I often use an old pair of Alienware wireless headphones if I’m relaxing to music or playing games late at night. It really depends on what you’re using them for. But I wouldn’t use them for anything where accuracy is a concern. For example I wouldn’t use the built in speakers of this monitor to place sound FX within 3 dimensional space. What you wind up with might be WAY off when listened to on any other speakers. Thank you so much for a quality review of this monitor. I have been excited about this monitor since it was introduced at CES this year. It's taken quite some time for reviews to come out though. I'm glad to see the price has come in at $1800 instead of the $2300 price point that was been talked about.
I wonder when Dell's sale ended on this monitor. Nearly every review in the last month says it's $1800, but I just started looking last week and it's been $1919. I've been debating between this and the Samsung 57" to get a 4k ultrawide. I ended up buying the Samsung cause I could just go get it from Best Buy, but I'm still not convinced and have 60 days to return. I actually LOVE using windows 11's new snapping options to split it into 3 windows on the 32:9 monitor. 16:9 in the middle and two 8:9 screens on the side. One of the biggest selling points to ultrawides is treating it like side by side monitors, but also having it wide enough that you can get a center focused window and still have space on each side for discord/browser/notes. I feel like a 21:9 is a better full screen game experience, but trying to fit more windows side by side on the smaller screen often forces some apps/sites into mobile mode. Gah, I want the Dell, but 32:9 lol... or a QD-OLED 32:9.
My only concern with the Samsung would be color accuracy. I would look into getting an affordable 27 inch that is color accurate to pair with it and you should be good to go

It's too expensive for what it is, if it was ~1200 I wouldn't have went for the neo G9 57". I'll try the G9 57" for coding so I don't need the better color accuracy of the Dell.
Just wondering, what did you never recommend the LG 5k 34" Monitor to someone? Because you said that there's never been an ultriwide with this resolution but LG made one 5years ago: ua-cam.com/video/qxJ1xj8mXA4/v-deo.html
Good video as always but it would be nice to consider the broke folks that cant shell out over 1500 for a monitor. edit, ooh btw tech and people always change so never mind what anyone has to say about what you already said long before you experienced it firsthand, lol
I think people who are looking for an "endgame" monitor should avoid this product at the moment. LG has announced they're planning on making 5120x2160 OLED panels in the next year or two, at 240Hz as well, and potentially using their "dual mode" feature to be able to switch to 2560x1080 at 480Hz. That will absolutely blow this IPS panel out of the water. Still a very tempting product, and I know buyers should generally avoid worrying about the shinier, better product around the corner... but if you're waiting for that "perfect monitor" and don't absolutely need to drop that money on a monitor right this second, I think waiting for an OLED will help avoid the extreme buyer's remorse people will feel.
what exactly does all that Hertz speed get you? I'm running 4k at 30 Hz and am looking forward to stepping up to at least 120 Hz with my next purchase. But I'm not sure what all that speed (480 Hz) gets you. Perhaps you could explain.
And who wants to wait 2 years because LG is "planning something"? If they announce a product to be released in 3-6ish months? Maybe. But not 2 years of vague hints.

How embarrassing output from a £1.8k product. TB also stops PD to laptop. Otherwise it could have been an excellent buy. Dell support proved to be joke. They have been dragging troubleshooting beyond 14 day cooling off period for return so that online support team can wash their hand with it. They don’t even want to share a complain procedure.
How is the input lag for gaming? On the website it says 8ms, which is not so good gaming wise. What do you think?
this monitor is 120hz [1 sec/120 = 8.33ms of Refresh Interval (RI) from the moment you click something you'd get 8.33ms of RI + 8ms of Response Time (RT) = 16.33ms of Display Latency (DL). This means it would take you 16.33ms to see your action displayed. Compared to a good gaming monitor with 240hz / 0.5ms with 4.17ms (RI) + 0.5ms (RT) =
Recommend with LG C3 48 inch 4k OLED - 120FPS amazing 😃 2023
wonder if any 5k oled monitors will come out next year
Yea but there's a huge crowd that works from home 8 hours a day that can't buy into oled due to burn in. 40" 21:9 miniled is end game for this crowd...sucks no one has done it yet.
I literally just sold my LG Ultrawide 34 because it was only 1440p and the colors weren't accurate.
Can someone tell cheap 1080p ips displays for color accuracy .
Tell more than one for options if not available in my country.
Thanks Master Matt! Please share your Display Scale, text settings in Windows. For me text is too small in Resolve etc. Peace!
150% is the recommended level and it works well.
@@whoismatt Good to know. Thanks!
Hey Matt, I appreciate your channel and help you have been before, can I ask you a new question? You may cover it on your channel but I was hoping for 2024 info.... as we discussed I edit 4k video for our broadcast shows that have 24 minutes of content. I want/need a new high capacity ext hard drive and want speed and reliability of course... SSD I am sure is faster than standard drives.. can you please recommend or link me to where on your channel you cover this.... 12-15 Terabyte needed, fast transfer rates, etc.. and most of all reliability as crashing and losing all of our footage is not an option... :-) Thanks buddy...
Hi, what is the curve radius on this model? I cannot find that information anywhere
1800r
2500R
It's too expensive for what it is, if it was ~1200 I wouldn't have went for the neo G9 57". I'll try the G9 57" for coding so I don't need the better color accuracy of the Dell.
oh but does it have picture by picture and picture in picture i can use two devices like my pc and ps5 ?
Yes
Matt
Am asking for 3 wedding video link from all of the weddings you have worked on ..please it will really help me I my shoot and Editing
Wait… Did you said gaming?? So are you gamer too uuuh? 🤔 awesome video BTW as always.
Gotta multitask
I've been daily driving 1440p 21:9 since 2015 ;o]]
Cool monitor but the price is insane.
great monitor but expensive
Just sad it's curved
Just wondering, what did you never recommend the LG 5k 34" Monitor to someone? Because you said that there's never been an ultriwide with this resolution but LG made one 5years ago: ua-cam.com/video/qxJ1xj8mXA4/v-deo.html
If only it wasn’t $2000 😭😭😭
Paid plugs
Now make it OLED and take my money

OEM monitor stands are usually sh1t...just get a heavy duty monitor arm for that
"daily driving"?
Yeah it has wheels on the bottom. Roll it around town
@whoismatt yeah but how's the milage?
But.... it's not OLED...😢
how many kidneys do you need to live again please ?
I don't think i will ever use a curved monitor. #flatforlife
I really dont like curved monitors.
ugly working silver matt looking, is not for gaming. and that DELL logo, bruhh~ ill wait for LG or ASUS。
