Watching cuticle removal up close is so calming to me 😄 Thank you, Anna! I had been scrapping my cuticle like I was scrapping ice off my car! So, I learned somes new techniques from you which I will apply. I love the Tweezerman nippers, too. I will have to pick up this pushy tool -- perfect for my handbag.

I have learned so much from your videos 👍🏻. Beauty schools need your information because every time I have a professional manicure the manicurist - uses the cuticle remover to soften the ‘Proximal fold’ then leaves the cuticle softener on while pushing back the proximal fold as though it’s actually the cuticle - but wait there’s more 😩they then take their Nippers and begin to clip and rip that skin away from my nail bed!!! Oh yeah it hurts and it’s drawn blood at times. I’ve tried all types of salons from ‘walk-in, to deluxe spas, and in between. You’d think with safety and sanitation they’re taught in beauty school they wouldn’t expose the ripped skin to bacteria, and worse. To top it off they always clean the nail with alcohol before the nail polish- talk about pouring salt into the wound. Alcohol on freshly nipped and ripped nail beds will send you out of your chair with the instant and lasting pain that causes. OMG. That’s why beauty schools need you. That you for taking the time to show and teach us all the very best way and why to care for your nails.
Brilliant work keep it up. Many thanks.

My experience as well. I went to a very reputable salon and during the manicure the technician cut into the fold. My nails looked “good” for about a day and then they started to hurt. The worst was the cut skin bleeding a bit and the formation of painful hangnails. On my vacation I had to put salve on my fingers to help them heal. I then found this wonderful UA-cam channel and after watching a few tutorials I can now do my own natural manicure and my nails and hands have never looked better!

I would like to warn anyone who picks and tries to remove that ‘one last little piece that’s bothering you.’ The last time I got a little overzealous with picking, I used a toothpick. For that ‘one tiny piece that was annoying me’
As the weeks went on I noticed something strange on my nail plate. It was a hole! I accidentally dug a whole into my fingernail by digging under the proximal nail fold. That’s something I never did again.

I find it crazy that my nails look exactly like yours! Even though mine right now are full of ridges and it's very embarrassing and I try to hide them all the time, it makes me feel better seeing yours, especially short and without nail polish 🥰 Exactly like mine used to look! And I'm starting to think that maybe I've damaged the nail matrix by doing this whole process very aggressively, and maybe that's why I got ridges 😳😭

Hi Theodora! Thank you for your comment! I think you emailed me, I'm so behind on my emails. I will get to it :) I'm not ignoring you :))

@@TheSalonLife oh thank you! ❤️ I was a bit desperate when I messaged you, but after watching more of your videos I realized there's not much I can do rather than warm oil soaks which I've started already, plus all the advice you've given. And it's reassuring to know I didn't do it myself by aggressively pushing the pnf, just maybe by using cheap nail polish for 20 years non stop 😂😭 Any feedback would be greatly appreciated but I understand you're busy and you've probably answered my questions already in your videos so it's ok really ☺️ I just thought maybe you'd find the pics useful for your page too, even though it was a very embarrassing process taking them lol. Anyways, again thank you! 🙏
PS: I tried different diets and supplements to see if it makes any difference, it doesn't. Just like you've already said. 40+ is a fun ride! 🙄😂

I have a full size tweezerman(I thought it was, but no logo...?) cuticle pusher which also has the square flat edge on one end but the other side is pointy flat spear shape. On mine, one side of each end is flat and the other side is curved/dome shaped. I can't use this pusher. Having extremely ridged nails, it doesn't remove cuticle because I can't do the sideway scrape you do. Doing that hits the ridges and it's a bit too sharp for my fragile nails. Mine is pretty much useless for pushing back the proximal nail fold too. The curved rounded edge on the pusher side of your mini seems more useful and gentle for pushing PNF.

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  2 роки тому +2

You made a very good point. For ridgy nails the flat side and going sideways might not be a good idea. The glass one would be better because the contact area is much smaller.

I have been watching many of your videos that mention NOT cutting the skin that has grown up over the nail. I used to do that all the time. I had a manicure - once in my life - and when the woman went to cut the skin around my nail I told her I had seen that she should not do that. She said, "It's okay." So, you think , who do I believe???
Anyway, after watching your videos, I understand. When I do trim that skin, I do experience much of the skin at the base of my nails peeling back and I am constantly pulling it off as it is unsightly. I will stop that! Thank you - but my question today is this: does pushing the skin back with a towel after bathing or doing dishes help?

Yes, just like if you have a scab eventually with care and protection that skin will become elastic and smooth. :)

Hi, Anna! I would like to ask you: in some kits there is a bigger pusher, not like in the travel kit. Which one do you recommend?! Which is more comfortable?

The bigger one is better :) It's a great tool!!

They also have a mini kit that is a must have to travel with. I actually have it in my purse at all times in case of any snags etc.

It's from the Ordinary. I love the Niacinamide serum. I add 3 drops to Cerave Lotion and that's what I use every day for my face and hands in the morning. Love it!

I've been watching your videos, and I just don't get it. You say don't use a buffer, and then you use a buffer. You say only do it on this part, but I can't tell which part! I don't know why I'm not getting it.
