Ironic that Bonnie Ross would step down after I had this video set to publish while I'm on vacation. Still, not sure what to think. But I'm still tired of talking about this game. We'll see what the future holds. I hope Forge is fun

Some of my best gaming memories were from Halo 2 and Halo 3. I’d play Rainbow Six Black arrow/Vegas as well, but if you say “Xbox” halo is what used to come to mind. I was so hyped for infinite but I haven’t touched it in months. The lack of content makes you feel like “yeah I’ve been here before” and it’s such a shame.
I was hyped too, I hadn’t played a Halo consistently since Halo 3, where I got introduced to the series. Me and my friends still play it a little bit, but we can only get a couple games in before we get extremely bored and decide to go into a custom game or just go play Fortnite.
Xbox Series S cant run current gen games in splitscreen, it's not anyone's fault Xbox One X (A LAST GEN CONSOLE) has more RAM than Xbox Series S (a "current" gen console). I'm gonna say it again, Xbox One X had 12GB of RAM, Series S has 10GB of RAM, and only 8GB usable because things like "quick resume" are oh so important in this adhd generation. Memory is very KEY when it comes to how ambitious devs can be when making a game
@@victory7763 I honestly love the Series S because of how easy it is to fit into a backpack and the hardware just looks so solid and well-built. That being said the 512GB SSD size, 4TFLOPS of GPU power and 10GB of VRAM... yeah Microsoft screwed the pooch on that one. BTW it's 10GB of GDDR6 vs 12GB of GDDR5 on the One X. So it's not a fair comparison.
The vibes always indicated that it was going to be sub par. The most money spent on the least amount of content ever. It has to be a world record or something.

@Flare The irony of people in a nutshell. I honestly thought Halo 6 would fail when Halo 5 was released. And I was right. I hate being right sometimes.
Crazy how 343 dropped the ball with this one. They had all the good will and motivaton from the fans. I remember last year when everyone was so hyped around release and the first month had positive vibes DESPITE all the delays and cut features. Halo fans really were a very forgiving and generous fanbase with 343. And then the company just mismanaged the shit out of Infinite.

The “tearing down the different communities” is the realest point ever man. I was soooo pumped to play team slayer, shotty snipes & ranked swat off the rip when this game dropped. When I saw what they offered.. and what they are offering now, I’m actually astounded at the stupidity of this company.
As a casual once and awhile player of Halo (not a super fan yet) I was wondering what are the biggest grievances you guys have with this game? I’ve heard that it’s absolutely awful and was wondering how bad it could possibly be.
I want to see a 90 minute documentary about how 343 mismanaged one of the greatest gaming franchises to ever exist with a bunch of insider info. It would be really interesting
There is one. Look up "343 industries versus the world" by Macrostyle on UA-cam. It covers mostly everything from 343i's inception to just before Infinite's release.
I really believed in Halo Infinite and that I'd be playing it for 10 years straight with all the "live service" campaign DLC content that I thought was coming. I thought that's what "Infinite" meant. I must've misunderstood something. It's disappointing. I wish they'd just called it Halo 6 and left it at that. Anyway, I'll always love Halo.
Me too man. I thought there would be content and service and a full damn game for having paid the full price. Also, remember the Reach-style armor customization? Instead we got a paywall. Fuck 343i, those guys are lying faithless dogs.

i think the only reason they canceled split screen at this point, is to force you to buy another console for your brother/sister/daughter/son whatever, and thats bad because they are expensive
Thats what I hate about Microsoft and why ill be going playstation, they get you with these little tactics of forcing you to pay extra. Much like how they make controllers so they break easily opposed to the long lasting 360. I hate when people love seeing Xbox and Playstation come together, their rivalry and competition in the 00's was what made the next console amazing, they had to compete with each other. Now they know they'll get a massive audience and just try to squeeze money out of the consumer for profit.
Gotta find a way to peddle bullshit consoles that people just arent interested in buying anymore. The console industry is absolutely fucked at this point. People have figured out that building computers isnt rocket science and that they dont have to replace it every 5 years because its become an antiquated useless pos. Thats the killing blow.

Epic and Bungie poured their hearts into Gears of War and Halo. The Coalition and 343 Industries have shown that they are in it for the money only
Killing splitcreen was the nail in the coffin for me. Couch coop was an integral part of my love for halo. Me and a bunch of buddies hop on the couch, one friend brings a few extra controllers and we’re up till 3am having the time of our lives. Halo hasn’t really felt the same since then.
Same here. A friend and I were awaiting for that feature to finally jump into Infinite because split-screen co-op Halo is part of our DNA at this point. So sad.
You guys remember when Halo Reach had so many game modes you’d literally never run out of content? With a beautiful menu, a satisfying upgrade system, LOBBIES THAT STAYED AFTER MATCHES. You guys remember as kids seeing that one player with a ghost helmet and being like wow this guy is so cool lemme send him a friend request? Halo used to have so much life, so much community, such a reason to invest. Weekly challenges, firefight, forge, swat, infection, big team battle, capture the flag, oddball, griffball, coop campaign, it was… perfection, and it was over a decade ago
Never forget bungie blessing us with invasion, Reach will forever be under appreciated. Aside from how you feel about the armour abilities or whatever to me that was peak halo
bro you could launch any mode in halo reach and have so much fun i played more on community made maps then the regular maps. its honestly gut wrenching to not be able to sit down and play halo reach
I think a lot of us are cursed with experience of the amazing games we grew up with. To see games now makes us all frustrated and sad - especially with Halo. Further, to see the next generation of gamers enjoy and even praise them completely floors us. Standards have fallen so far, corporatization has sunk in, and we're more or less conditioned to it. I'm glad we have big voices like yours to recount what games were like and should be today.
Reasons this is happening. #1 All the people who were actually good at their jobs and could make a functioning game or write good stories either retired or were driven out to make room for the diversity hires #2 Game Devs prioritized meaningless metrics like, "16x bigger, 128x the graphical fidelity, 0.2% faster loading of Cash Shop" rather than ensuring the actual game worked first #3 Devs were too spineless to tell the executives that what they wanted wouldn't work, would take too long or shouldn't be in their game just because Fortnite is doing it and they want those dollars too. It's not like the marketing team could code the game. #4 A slurping up of the "Gamers are bad" mentality pushed by bad actors who hate games but want to chase it for clout because it's becoming a bigger industry than hollywood so they all have to proclaim how much they loved playing The Mariotendo and the Halo Box when they were growing up when the actual aspect of playing games is revolting to them and they despise the people who play them.
I think this is the trend of entertainment. Music is watered down nowadays. There’s a ton of Netflix, Prime, etc originals with B actors and booty ass filming techniques. We have an abundance of content now and I think we just have to sift through all the shit to find what’s good. I think the advancement of technology has made it easier to produce games, movies and music to the point where refinement and talent is lost. For example, filming movies on digital. Back then they were filmed on film, meaning that you can’t fuck up the scene. Whether it’s actor, the shot, the lighting, etc. The actor had to really sell the scene and make it believable. For video games, the developers released it on a disc and so they had to make sure that the game was as perfected as much as possible before they released it. For music, they didn’t have all the takes in the studio because it was recorded on tape. Meaning that it’s costly and when the band records the studio version of a song then they must make sure everyone is ready. Also all the other shit like software can fix many imperfections with a song nowadays. In all, it’s all money driven and less effort.
@@thebadwolf3088 so? Their mistakes aren’t *nearly* as big, bad, or meme worthy as Microsoft’s screwups; so you saying “w-what about PLAYSTATION??” makes you come off as a fanboy.
I've literally been saying since they released 4 that they would continue to ruin Halo. I have never been proved wrong. The company is rotten to the core. The Halo franchise needs a soft reboot back to the end of Halo 3 and a return to its identity, and for 343 to be either scrapped or to have the entire company burned and rebuilt.
@@Chinesepenistrap Saw the red flags early too. When I played Halo 4 it literally felt like COD with a Halo skin. It’s amazing how these companies like Dice and 343 manage to fuck this up. The formula was already created

I’ve seen so many people say we don’t understand how much 343 loves Halo and how hard they work. The thing is, sometimes people/companies are just not right for the job no matter how hard they work. Would a sports franchise keep a terrible coach just because they were nice and worked hard? No. The job needs to be done no matter what and 343 has failed at that.
As far as I’m concerned halo ended with halo 3 and everything after that has been non canon… meanwhile at bungie they are doing a pretty good job D2 is stays at the top of steam for some time now.
My favourite thing about this whole "343 not giving a fuck" impression is that you can literally see the armours which are not available yet in the armour hall; you can see the armours and the player can demo the armour on them when you hover over it. You just can't unlock or buy it yet, and you need to wait until 343 release it as part of a new season, even though it literally is right there. The assets exists. You can demo it on your body. Why not just fucking release it when it's clearly ready? They delay things that should have already be in the game and have existed from the start of launch in order to inflate the content in their staggered season launches. Also, most of the armour in this game look like dog shit. The Mark V core has a serious texture issue on both shoulders where everything looks stretched and bad, and they still haven't fixed it. You still cannot customise armour on your feet, shins, calves, glutes or thighs/quads, most armour pieces clip through each other, chest armour pieces are lazy (they just plonk a dull looking knife on the default chest armour and call it a legendary) the texture quality of these assets are PS3 tier, all armour have these odd looking orange glowing parts, and the lighting looks very off and dull. Legendary paints look less impressive than lower tier ones often, and you cannot remove the scratches or rust/dirt/mud/dust off of the armour. I would have thought you could apply a layering system with the pristine paint as the base, then sliders for battle-worn scratches, mud and other layering on top to get the look you want. This is something so easy to implement as a developer. Also, there are no assassinations in the game, which Reach had literally 12 years ago, which means the only time you see your character's cool armour is when you die, which is negative reinforcement. I basically get to see my cool armour only when I'm annoyed cause I died, not when I'm doing a cool assassination. The armours are all modular, which means the assets can be edited individually retroactively and the changes should propagate across the game, yet these assets are never revisited by the developers/artists and reworked to fix issues, increase poly count or improve on the design and how they line up with the rest of the armour pieces, and the new assets/armour/cores from new seasons look better than the launch items, which creates a skew in terms of graphics. Half the stuff in your inventory looks blocky and shit, and all the new stuff looks much better, yet no one is going back and improving the old stuff to match. There is still no DLSS or RTX in this game, which is an expectation at this point, and you can't see your feet if you increase your FOV, even though you can for other Halo games with the same FOV. It's a complete joke. This game is a soulless money grab in every way imaginable.
The fact that split screen was canned entirely shows just how bad things are at 343.I mean a feature that has existed for 20 years being so hard to put in a game.
It really hurts. I’ve been a Halo fan since I could hold the controller, just sitting in the warthog while my brother beat Halo 3 was enough for me. It’s such a shame to see it crash and burn like this…
Splitscreen is how my dad and I played Halo together back in the day, and we were both saddened by the fact that we couldn't do that with Halo 5. Then Infinite was announced to have Splitscreen on launch, and I told my dad "hey dad-we can play Infinite together at least" and he agreed... And then Infinite launched with no splitscreen... I was upset and told my dad about that-he just shook his head in dissapointment. Then come to find out splitscreen is just cancelled entirely, and it just felt like a giant slap in the face. Complete and utter ignorance is what the decision to remove splitscreen was based upon-nothing more. So many people were looking forward to this-far more than some realize

The bad part about this is that splitscreen co-op totally works. It's literally 90% done, aside from some glitches and a little needed polish it works from beginning to end. There's no good reason to scrap a feature that is this far into development.
i have a preety good idea why it was scrapped. Split screen is not a hard feature to implement, hell it existed for decades So it was probably assigned to 1 guy,or a very small group. Aaand my best guess was that the person in charge of doing the split screen left the company before finishing it,so managment decided to scrap it cuz why would they try to assign resources to that. Managment in 343 seems completely fucked atm and it clearly shows that most of them are not competent enouggh to be in that position and are probably alien to the halo franchise
I'll tell you what it is, it's probably the fact that we're still trying to make this compatible to OG 2012 Xbox One Hardware, so to make sure the thing is still chugging along, split screen got cancelled for everybody, so it wouldn't blow up the console.
Honestly Act Man, you're the voice of a lot of Halo fans in my opinion. I grew up playing split-screen Halo campaigns, on legendary, with my best friend that's no longer with us. Just two dudes with physical disabilities trying to save humanity and have a few laughs along the way. And I cherish those memories, sitting in his room together and playing Halo CE, 2, 3, and Reach together. It makes me sad that 343 has basically said fuck you to people who want to create memories exactly like the ones I value more than any possession I own. I'm sorry to hear you lost your friend and gaming buddy. The anniversary of Reach dropping reminded me of the times in college when I would play Halo with one of my best friends who also passed and it brought up so many memories together. Even Nintendo can toe the line with Smash Bros making stages and options for both competitive and casual fun modes, it's sad Microsoft and 343 can't get their act together.
As a guy who grew up playing Halo, and who had high hopes for Infinite, I'm extremely saddened by the state of Infinite and how 343 just can't get things right no matter what. Great video as always :)

@@yoursecrxt lol I said that all along and all I got was “stop pre-judging what you haven’t even played” and “those graphical bugs in the gameplay reveal will be fixed by release” (referring to the original launch date of late 2020, which never happened and was delayed an entire year which I also predicted lol). Now look at everyone’s reactions. It was obvious this game was going to be yet another of 343’s steaming piles of trash, but everyone was just too blinded by nostalgia and hype to see it.
One thing I can't stand about Halo Infinite is in Ranked when someone leaves your fireteam then you have 3 guys and everyone else just leaves because it is literally impossible to win a 2v4. Also if halo made so that when the wait time is 2:00 minutes to fin a match they should make you play with bots because then people would start playing it more then you wouldn't have a wait time.
In Halo 5 only the first quitter would receive a penalty and the other 3 were free to quit with no rank deduction or ban. Idk how they could just leave out a good design like that in their next installment.
As soon as I read "live service" " ten year plan" "micro transaction" I knew there was a high likelihood that infinite could be the death of Halo. It's incredibly saddening.
For years, every time someone asked me why I still had an Xbox I’d say “because Halo”… but that hasn’t really been a good answer for about a decade now. I uninstalled Infinite back in February and have been watching it whither and die from the sidelines. It’s so depressing what they did to Halo.
So true man. I've really been considering moving to PS. If not for game pass and the fact it's impossible to get your hands on a PS5 I prob would have already done so.
Very interesting look on the whole split screen debacle, never thought of it like that. its not about having split-screen to have it, its about the principle it holds, when a company promises you a feature for years and then backtracks on it, then what else are they willing to backtrack on? what other contents are they willing to rush/cancel outright.
Act Man, you shouldn’t take 343 not inviting you to early access and events personally. You’re the voice of the people, people’s champ. That’s worth more than being on the good side of a company with shady and unprofessional business practices.
It's funny how obviously clear who is on 343's bitch list. You see plenty of UA-camrs who downplay and give them a pass over and over again, and it's kinda disgusting how they shill so hard for a clearly bad studio.
Playing Halo Infinite during the beta and launch period was some of the most fun I’ve ever had playing Halo, and now I can’t play more than a few matches without getting bored out of my mind

It would have been so easy for them to take the money and run, or deliver sub par updates. But they show clear passion and love for their game and that's what we need more of today. Sure, complacent, half witted consumer is the one who allows this shit to happen, but the companies themselves are the ones that pushed all those harmful business practices in the first place and hapless, soulless devs that work because they couldn't find anything better for a career, who actively call their consumers "ungrateful chuds" are also to carry the blame for ruining gaming. It's a complex set of issues, but I prefer to shit on people who are forcing me to buy a game full price and then pushing dlc's and mtx and also calling me a racist and mysoginist for no reason but for wanting a good game. Fuck them.
It's so sad to the point that it's sort of impressive that 343i is struggling to build core Halo features Bungie mastered 10+ years ago. I have pretty much completely given up on the series.
Yo Walshy! Just wanted to say thanks for hosting all those halo montages, you propped up a big part of the prime halo community. Left a permanent mark on game culture too. I still go back to Dualtality every now and again lol
The moment we were told, "Co-op is dead," when Halo 5 released, I became pretty convinced that this was part of some 10 year buisness plan to phase out local co-op. I think the idea is to try to force people to buy the game themselves, rather than have the _sheer_ audacity to play at someone else's house. Considering I have always played Halo games with my brother and we grew up playing games with our uncles (and still do), I'm calling this line of thinking: bullshit.
@@kyotheman69 Oh yes. My brother and I haven't touched Halo 5 and beyond. They said our bonding time was dead, so we just took it (and our money) elsewhere.

This hurts man. You've been one of the biggest streamers of Halo content and one of the franchises biggest fans. Halo has sank so low that even their diehard fans are leaving them.
He said he’s done with Halo Infinite, not Halo altogether. And with that lead recently leaving and people with a better track-record taking her spot, we’ll likely see Act Man at the next Halo game, 1 that is better managed
I am as profoundly hurt by the greed and stupidity of 343 executives as every die-hard _Halo_ fans. My beef is mostly with the way the lore was handled since the latter half of the last decade. The dumbing down of the lore, the MCU-isation of the tone, the sheer incoherence and retardation of the latest canonical developments have worned out my soul. My mental health is literally worse because of it. They should've hired Greg Bear as the chief scenarist. The lore would at least have been salvaged. They could've hired Neil Blomkamp as the showrunner for the TV show and make it a new exciting addition to the established lore. But nope! They had to trash it. There is no justification for these idiotic and retarded decisions. The only reason they do it is because they get away with it, they get their paycheck and they don't have to care one bit about the consequences and ramifications of their actions. Even if the game sucked, we could've had our _Halo_ fix through other media. But nope. They had to thoroughly ruin it all. There is *NOTHING* , absolutely *NOTHING* 343 has touched at this point that hasn't been run into the mud and bastardized. I am so angry, bitter, disappointed and sad. In fact, I am grieving the slow agonizing death of my beloved franchise and what it could've been. RIP _Halo_ (2001-2015) *Nothing* past _Halo 5: Guardians_ is part of my headcanon. I literally regard *ANY* post-2015 lore development as non-canon. I regard what 343 has done a personal injury and insult. They could still fix it! That's the worst part! It's not too late! But they won't. I have seen no willingness in the last six years to make amends for the damage they've done to _Halo_ and I have absolutely no hope that they ever will. I wish _Halo_ died with some measure of dignity in 2015. At least, we could tell ourselves we had a decent run.
@@zayIrwin Oh, they'll make another game, I'm certain of it. But it'll be trash and not worth our attention one bit. I'm already *NOT* looking forward to the next game and I already declare that I will *NOT* play the next _Halo_ game.

When halo infinite released, I haven’t played halo in my life until that time and I was like “cool free game” got bored after 2-3 weeks and dropped it, not so long ago I buoyed the MCC and played the original trilogy for the first time, and halo 2 might be one of the best campaigns I’ve played in a shooter ever, now I fully understand the anger of the community.
@IGogetaX10I my first experience was Halo 4 which I actually enjoyed the story in 2012 and I got the MCC Christmas 2014 and the night of Christmas Eve I remember playing Halo 2 campaign I still remember that night
Split screen was how I was introduced to gaming. A friend had a 360, saw him playing halo 3. He offered me a controller, a week later I bought a 360 of my own
Same, but I played MW2 & BO Zombies instead. Not long after, I was like 9 years old in quickscope lobbies with current/former FaZe members... it was a golden era of gaming. Now all these amazing FPS franchises have lost their way...
The only reason I ever got into gaming was because when I was 7 years old I witnessed my cousin playing split-screen Halo 3 multiplayer on Guardian. My mind could not comprehend how great the game looked and how fun it was. And you better believe the first "major" purchase of my life was an Xbox 360 just for Halo 3. While I don't play split-screen games anymore, to say that split-screen isn't an important feature is ridiculous. Especially for Halo.
Wow, our ages are separated by a different generation of halos. I remember being six when my dad got me the original XBOX to play Halo: CE. That's how long that legacy has been. And now my sons' Halo games will suck ass :( Aww damn I just realized my dad and I played the OG Halo together, but I wont be able to play with my kids.
@@kibblesnbits3174 I don’t understand why such a crucial detail would be left out… I remember nights at my friend’s house we’d chill in the basement going at it in 1 v 1 matches using that split screen😂. Made the game great for hangouts or even family fun.
Ive played every Halo diligently and this came out and I could only tolerate it 1 week and will never play it again. I played all split screen with my wife so I'm in that camp that is angry about its removal.
Riot recently pulled the same stunt, saying from the beginning that Valorant will have a replay system. It was the most awaited feature by the players and then they said, 2 years later, "we will never implement a replay system". A tactical FPS. Without a replay system. What. The. F*ck. Probably to hide the reasons behind "precise gameplay" bugs and faults Valorant is known for.
My love for Halo, will always be strong in my heart. Still know the names of boys from the old 360 days. And dammit... I hate watch this video once a day, Praying for the things to change.... knowing they never will...... 343, you fucked up baaaaad......
Exactly. It's not the fact that co-op split screen won't be included. It's the fact that 343 not only lied, but continue to show their incompetence. There are random UA-camrs who are able to do co-op split screen, why can't the devs!?! It's time to call them out on their shit.
It's wild how much games companies are getting away with these days. I've been boycotting blizzard games since their employees walked out bc of Bobby Kotick's behavior. Looks like I'll add 343 to the list. It completely blows my mind that AAA companies can't even do the bare minimum while indie developers are making the best games. We need to vote with our dollars, people.
It's the only way really. And the sad part is they'll abandon the ip for a few years then hype it back up. Creativity isn't a money maker, push out title after title is the motive.
Loads of my friends still play hearthstone. And obviously a lot still play WoW. Unfortunately when overwatch 2 actually launches it will have a bunch of players too who just can’t say no to more Overwatch. It’s really annoying but lots of people just don’t care.
I played every Halo game with my wife. It was the one game we played together. But since 343 decided couch co-op is not important, I can't play the last few halo games with her. I was excited to play Halo infinite with her after missing Halo 5. I bought the game to play with her and I have never played it and now I never will. Makes me sad.
My Dad and I played the Halo titles when I was a kid, young as 3-5 years old. I'm 22 now, and those days turned me into a diehard Halo fan. Even after all the problems, I was excited to show him how far Halo has come with Infinite. He hasn't had the time to play games for years, but said he would love to play it with me. But we can't do that now. Most likely will never be able to. And that fucking sucks, man. Gaming simply isn't what it used to be.

What's sad is...this was the same thing that happened with me. 343 convinced me that Halo Infinite was going to be the Halo game that revived the franchise after the cataclysmic destruction that was Halo 5...when I had my first look at Master Chief's armor in Infinite, I was stoked and ready for this game to come out. Upon it's release, I bought it immediately and beat the campaign in a couple of days. It was the greatest thing ever...and as time went on, I slowly lost interest in Infinite, and I couldn't quite wrap my head around why I felt this way...the more I thought about it, the story wasn't as good as I remembered it was after I first played it, and the multiplayer made me lose interest almost immediately. After playing the game for a couple of months, I haven't touched it since April. 343 did a terrible number on the Halo franchise. It's so sad to witness this happen to a franchise that I absolutely loved. I still enjoy playing Bungie's Halo games, I still play Reach every single week, and the books are fun to read and all, but 343 has just about lost all of my support.
And the worst part of it all is, you had to give them money first to learn that lesson. You got scammed using the flashy title and were given a $40 kiddie pool instead of Disney land. I'm sorry this is how it happened, getting lesson via ripped bandaid approach isn't ever easy, but learn from this and never, ever, jump off the bridge just because your friends did. In this case, I'd word it like don't jump on the hype train without checking its stability first, but it's a lesson generation's old
The thing that got me into halo was split screen. More specifically it was my Dad, who noticed me watching from the stairs when I was supposed to be in bed. I still remember that, it was the first flood level in halo 3. Man, I can't believe how long ago that was, the whole slow, painful death of halo has been utterly abysmal, I doubt Halo is ever going to recover at this point
Split screen is just as important now as it always was. In fact, now that there are more families where more than one generation play video games, split screen is more popular than ever. The only reason you don’t hear about split screen as much is that game dev management don’t want it to be a thing. But games that focus on split screen are phenomenally popular, and some families favor buying split screen games. Essentially, 343 just don’t want to do it. So eff them.
I’ve been done with it for a year. Safe to say their “live service” system does absolutely nothing for player retention. I’ve been a long time halo fan and at this point I don’t know what I feel. They have never made a good original halo game, and as much as I keep having hope for better games, I have mostly lost it. Everything they aimed for has gone wrong and I feel like nothing they can announce will save this utter failure of a game, as most of these players have left due to this failure of actually being live service and lack of basic, expected-at-launch features that had no reason not to be there at launch
This really hit me hard the no split screen thing, me and my brothers loved playing all the halos, every single one in split screen together, when infinite was announced we thought split screen was going to come with it, looks like those hopes are dashed
I remember skipping a dance in middle school to have an all night LAN+Split screen party the night Halo 3 released. These are the kind of Halo memories I miss. Other content creators just don’t make constructive criticism entertaining quite like you do ActMan! Please keep up the content
I've had so many great memories with the Halo franchise and especially Halo 3 ! I was hoping that Halo: Infinite would bring new fans and loyal old fans back to the game and it DID... for a short period of time. I went out of my way to buy a Halo: Infinite limited edition Xbox Series X to spoil my little brother for Christmas. He was stoked about it, but he was sad that we couldn't play together AT ALL... not even on 2 separate consoles ! When I heard about the cancellation of split-screen co-op, that ember of what was left for me and my excitement with the Halo franchise is now gone. Thank you 343i for making the gaming franchise that grew the Xbox brand turn into a pile of failed potential.
I have a buddy who works cinematics at 343. According to him, just about everyone involved with the main creative team was either let go or has quit. Apparently, their equipment is outdated and the company refuses to give them the help/tools they need to turn out new content. Now they're filling the gaps with temp contract works and inconsistent/bad design, causing multiple restarts. Their leadership has no vision as they jump from problem to problem with no clear idea of what they want the game to actually be.
I wonder, why is contract work bigger than the main team a thing anyway? You expect contract work to be for content like new maps and cosmetic, and not just... basically the whole game.
@@Revkor yeah, I almost wonder whether microsoft has a hand in that type of problem, most likely both. Literally screw the AAA studio's practice of being giant pieces of shit about everything.
It blows my mind how Halo 20 years ago with such less advanced tech could release and at launch have amazing campaigns, a working multiplayer and progression system, forge, custom games. Good cosmetics and customisation,Split screen, theatre, file browsing, alternate character selection (elites) and twice if not 3x as many game modes as this absolute joke of a halo title. It really hurts to build up this resentment to a game that is so near and dear to me, all bungie made halos where the golden age, halo 4-5 went back a few steps and then they’ve had over SIX years to create their own golden age of halo, bring it back to former glory and make it an experience for original halo fans that have waited so long for anything worth while. Gone are my favourite days of halo, Reach was the last solid mainstream halo title and that released in 2010…
Because they made it with a purpose and that was to entertain and be a successful company but today “ success” is not making a competent beautiful inspired game but just the bare minimum and a battle pass system
More advanced tech doesn't actually mean easier to develop. Still doesn't excuse the launch and what they've done with the game, but newer =/= easier. Usually it's actually harder since there's more to account for in the eternal war for better graphics/physics.

yea i dont really like this trend of youtubers saying "i blame the management, the common devs for sure work hard". sure ultimately its managements fault since they recruit and hire people (and make sure the good workers stay or rile them up to leave), but when you look at 343i its not hard to imagine a lot of the common workers are halo fans who dont know anything about game making. you cant believe its just managers strangling competent devs when everything gets delayed or comes out half-there. devs have a huge blame and im sure there are plenty who say "who plays split-screen anyway?"
The situation becomes really dumb when you realise that split screen was basically finished, but 343 couldn't be bothered to iron out the bugs in order to make good on their promises!
@@mup8661 That is difficult to believe. The reality is that this is a feature that only a small minority of people will use. @@Sgto.Wolvington Same man 😔
Let’s be honest, when was the last time anyone has played a game couch coop?
I remember playing reach and there would always be new maps being introduced. Reach was awesome
And I remember people shit on reach during that time, now I bet they wish they could go back to that time.
Bro you’re just talking about nostalgia lol
Them cancelling split screen when they guaranteed that they will have it after the game has already launched is disgusting.
Reasons not to pre order games
Honestly it should be grounds for every single person who bought it for consoles to demand their money back.
@@GeoStreber 100% Agree. It was blatant lie
fr I wanted split screen
Evil stuff
I think a lot of us are cursed with experience of the amazing games we grew up with. To see games now makes us all frustrated and sad - especially with Halo. Further, to see the next generation of gamers enjoy and even praise them completely floors us. Standards have fallen so far, corporatization has sunk in, and we're more or less conditioned to it. I'm glad we have big voices like yours to recount what games were like and should be today.
Reasons this is happening.
#1 All the people who were actually good at their jobs and could make a functioning game or write good stories either retired or were driven out to make room for the diversity hires
#2 Game Devs prioritized meaningless metrics like, "16x bigger, 128x the graphical fidelity, 0.2% faster loading of Cash Shop" rather than ensuring the actual game worked first
#3 Devs were too spineless to tell the executives that what they wanted wouldn't work, would take too long or shouldn't be in their game just because Fortnite is doing it and they want those dollars too.
I hope they do a documentary on how badly this was managed
They will it will be released in year 2090 (subject to change)

I've literally been saying since they released 4 that they would continue to ruin Halo. I have never been proved wrong. The company is rotten to the core. The Halo franchise needs a soft reboot back to the end of Halo 3 and a return to its identity, and for 343 to be either scrapped or to have the entire company burned and rebuilt.
@@Chinesepenistrap Saw the red flags early too. When I played Halo 4 it literally felt like COD with a Halo skin. It’s amazing how these companies like Dice and 343 manage to fuck this up. The formula was already created
Halo fans before the 2020 gameplay reveal: "Sprint doesn't belong in Halo!" "Yes it's okay!"

They don't just fire an entire team tho. Management gets booted first
@@SaintsFan09-z3s yeah, but the new management usually shakes up the team and replaces some of the old players with new ones.
@@SaintsFan09-z3s Entire teams get axed all the time in private industry. Steve Jobs was notorious for it.
If you’re talking about the Dallas Cowboys than yes, a sports team would keep terrible coaches because they were nice and worked hard. 😊
"Every decision you have made has led us from bad to worse." Sums up the whole video.

It would have been so easy for them to take the money and run, or deliver sub par updates. But they show clear passion and love for their game and that's what we need more of today. Does it excuse the launched NMS? No. Does it mean we can forgive Hello Games for going above and beyond? Yes. I think so.
@@jetmcgee4218 That's a bit pessimistic. Sure, the game should've been MUCH better at launch and shouldn't have come with so many broken promises, but I feel like calling No Man's Sky a game that's "forever bad" is a bit of an exaggeration. And a bit unfair considering all of the improvements that came after its release.
Still should've been good on launch, but that doesn't mean that it didn't improve.
It’s ironic, as much as there have been games that over the years have labelled themselves as “halo killer”, the real halo killer might end up being halo itself.
Funny isn't it? The ones to kill massive, successful franchises were those franchises themselves. Well, maybe delusional upper management and incompetent, passionless staff would be more correct. Halo is dead, WoW is dead, CoD is shit, Battlefield is dead, Gears of War is dead, Saint's Row just recently buried itself, you wouldn't give a shit about Ubisoft games in a million years. MGS and Silent Hill? Dead. Final Fantasy franchise? Laughably mediocre. Most Sony owned japanese studios? Dead. This is a gamepocalypse and only few companies manage to churn out something competent and even they are becoming mired in controversies and making bad news.

RIP _Halo_ (2001-2015)
*Nothing* past _Halo 5: Guardians_ is part of my headcanon.

I never even picked it up to try. The writing was on the wall.
This really hit me hard the no split screen thing, me and my brothers loved playing all the halos, every single one in split screen together, when infinite was announced we thought split screen was going to come with it, looks like those hopes are dashed
