Is this a Good Idea or a Bad Idea?

- I'll check with Mr. Saftey Cone, just to make sure!
It's a BAD IDEA. Please don't actually be stupid enought to work with power tools in a low light situation. Peter is taking his own risks by doing do.

Wow! That was awesome watching you turn that under the black light.. Mr. Safety Cone just couldn’t handle the coolness.. That thing turned out sweet.. I’m going to have to make some more. 🦾🦾
That was a beautiful blank brother. Thank you for sending it!
@@peterbrownwastaken your link to jake's channel isn't working.
@@jrAndThings Thanks. I fixed it. :)
Seeing as how this is a UV resin, I think THIS would be an occasion to re-use the shavings in other resi projects.
100% this!
Came to the comments to say this. The shaving tend to disappear with visible spectrum dyes, but these might show up under black light and that would be super cool!
Oh yeah this could be potentially awesome !🎉
Yeaaaaahhhh
I 5th this, golden opportunity right here!
8:45 we all saw it. Mr Safety Cone slipped and fell by accident.
Must not have been wearing his OSHA approved slip resistant safety shoes🤷♀️😇
That cone had a cube and 3 spheres. Such an avoidable tragedy.
Can't see OSHA violations if you cannot see!
This is funny. Circle back in a few minutes... :)
That was so freaking cool
So an idea for the cast (this might be too involved, but I think it would look cool)
Make a mold of your arm, and fill it with different layers of different materials you've used over the years. Shredded metal, break away glass, gummy bears, lava resin, etc. Then you can put half of the cast on one side, and leave the other side open to show off the layers.
Kind of shows everything you've achieved this far and some of the "cost" it took to get there all in one piece.
I really like this. If you cut the cast in half you can make 2 different projects. Maybe save the other half for a year and fill it with materials from projects you've done from when the cast came off, to the 1 year anniversary of it coming off.
Could you use the shavings in clear resin for a fireworks-looking project?
Those shavings at 1:37 look amazing. Just delicate little glowing insect wings.
Hey, so I am amused at sparkly stuff, oh well.
Hey I recently saw someone make knife scales using aluminum honeycomb and resin, but instead of just submerging the honeycomb in resin, they filled each individual cell with different colors, making it look like a snakes scales. I think you could do some interesting things with this technique.
Suggestion for the cast: push stick for table saw / bandsaw.
Looking at these shavings has me really wanting to see a project with them! Imagine making like a jellyfish or a man o war!
I really hope you put those aside for future projects!
Use the shavings and include a uv light surce, make it into a lamp or illuminated ornament
Peter that look like 🔥 lol on the one side .looks amazing
How many times have you explained that micro-mesh has its own grit system? I think even I have it memorized!
Great video as always!
I was worried he wasn't going to use them, then he said the line, and I physically relaxed. All is right in the world again.
He skipped explaining it before and people got upset
Easy idea for the cast: Make a mold of your arm, get some of skeleton bones (arm, natch) and then pour a resin cast of your arm with the bones in using fluorescing translucent dye or UV resin (whichever's cheaper), and then mount the cast on the arm!
That's an awesome idea
How do you a bone in the middle? Cast half, place bone, cast the other half or do try to suspend it with wire in a full cast? I guess thats the video haha idk if bone floats or sinks so that would matter too! Lol
@@ginger_nosoulyeah for suspended things in resin they usually cast half then place the object then cast the other half. Floating can be a problem but if the bones are also made of resin the density should be the same and have no issues. The timing has to be perfect though to have the two layers fuse properly and have the bone able to sit on top of the first layer.
And break one of the bones!
@@baseddino thank you for the insight! its a balance that i know little about! I just tossed out ideas as a new guy.
So we all agree, you gotta do something with the shavings.
Very cool!! 👍 I hope you kept the shavings!! 🤗
You could make a transparent vase with the cast - have the "hole" down the middle of the cast (don't know how to suspend it so it sits off the bottom - maybe some polymer thread?)
Loved the nod to Bandit. At least I assume that's where "Biscuits!" came from
I was scouring the comments to see if anyone thought the same when he said, "BISCUITS!" Total Bandit move.
Watched this in the dark on an OLED TV, it was quite the light show. Especially at 1:29.
This is one of the coolest-looking videos you’ve made. There HAS to be a part 2 using those shavings
Very cool! I hope you saved the shavings for future projects!! ☺️
you should keep the cast whole, make a colored cast of your arm and place it inside the cast, and then mabye do an outer layer of clear to seal the cast on, as like a strange large trophy.
I gotta say Peter, if this was the first video i ever turned on of yours, I'd be hooked in and sinker!! The shavings coming out at first was so awesome!
I
This video could also interest someone of the more relaxed mindset!!😏🤫
Those Shavings look incredible... Peter you need to do a Dip it Project with those Shavings or a second project with them.
Clear resin with the shavings would look AMAZINGLY COOL!!!!!!
I don't know why I want the cast to be a lamp so badly, much like the lamp from A Christmas Story. Light it up! Lol
I loved that project! The colors in the resin were great!
The spirally bits looked so neat!!! I love this~
Amazing! Cant wait to see what you do with the shavings!
This is a totally unique and awesome video. Love the black light and the way the shavings looked!
Watching that was awesome - the glow was amazing and mesmerizing.
Dude that was some awesome viewing!!! Glad you are enjoying the show
Turning under black light. Now, that’s just cool! Loved the drill shavings too. thanks, Jake for inspiring Peter to do this project!
That’s so cool looking. I think my favorite part is the shavings. 😮
The black light did really show off the colours in that blank, nicely done , you will enjoy the mould they are amazing 👍
wow nice one tnx for sharing
I love the black light idea, cool video Peter!
this was such a beautiful piece!!!! thank you for sharing it's gorgeous creation with us :)
That was very cool 😎😎
Thanks for sharing!
This has got to be one of, if not the most, visually enchanting videos of yours
That looked magical! Thank you! I'm glad all went well. And did you save the shavings? They are too cool to be thrown away, need to do something with them too!
I used to do pours like that into clear resin when I had access to vertical molds. As much glow in the dark stuff as I've been casting when I put myself in the shop I've often thought about doing the blacklight turning myself.
Its beautiful!
looks awesome!
You should save the shavings and make something with them 😀😀🤩
Loving the aesthetics of this one!!
Looks great Peter!
That was amazing. The blank was great to begin with, and the black light turning made this video so fun.
Thank you Peter. I've struggled my whole life with my weight and so has my family. This video was a good reminder that you don't have to lose weight fast, just feeling better and moving more is a real triumph.
This was so relaxing to watch even knowing what a bad idea using power tools in less than ideal lighting circumstances is XD
Beautiful blank, and awesome result!
Been wanting to do a blacklight video, but not sure I want to just yet. I love how this turned out.
Great video!
That was awesome
Totally need to use those shavings .... looks amazing 😃😃
I hope you collected all those glow in the dark turnings, as you can cast all of those in clear resin and basically do this all over again! 😎
a while back you did a resin shavings in resin bowl. you should try that again. with these shavings,
Totally agree, those shavings would look amazing in a piece
You should put all those shavings into an acrylic blank, would look cool
I really enjoyed watching this video, I've never seen a blacklight turning video. It looks amazing.
Can't wait to see you there.. I local and going.
That was epic can't wait to see what you use the shavings for
glad to see the old style of thumbnails back, they feel much more genuine
Oooh, fun! And I look forward to the video where you use those scraps in resin to make a northern lights night light ;)
that was awesome
@3:10 the shavings in the dark across your hands and shirt look like a multi color galaxy. absolutely stunning!!!
That was very cool. Came over here after seeing this on Saturday Morning Cartoons. The amount of light those shavings provided is pretty amazing.
Mr. Safety Cone needs to be a regular character on this channel.
Could be the coolest turning video of all time! 😁
Awesome video Peter! 🎉
That thing is just beautiful. You sir just earned a title of The Night Wision Turner.
Amazing effect. And those shavings look totally like opal 🌈
Coolest handle i've seen!
Those shavings are mesmerizing
I concur with the many others that are suggesting you should keep the shavings for other projects. Even the dust from sanding could have an interesting use similar to glitter.
"Yorkshire Grit" - funnily enough I live in South Yorkshire, England, UK! Thanks for another good vid mate!!
I've been waiting for your next upload and finally caught one early love your vids broooo
That safety cone! 😂
Open Sauce looks amazing, jealous of the people who can make it.
I like how the ribbons looked when you where drilling it, I would love to see a bowl made out of those ribbons
Cool video Peter!! Odd looking bottle opener
I enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Make a silicone mold of your arm (The one you hurt), and then you will make a resin mold of it. Do it with layers of things you've tried over the years. (i.e. Broken glass, Wood Shavings, Crushed Oreo's, Breakfast Cereal, Nerds Candy, etc., etc., etc.) But do it in layers from your first dip it up to your last resin pour.
I do love this idea like a time capsule
Mr Safety Cone is a great addition to the channel. He's a smart guy!
Fun!
The shavings from this are so freaking cool looking!
More pls. Iridescent, fluorescent and glow in the dark are my jam.
I would LOVE to see the fluorescent shavings used in another project.
The shaving are beautiful in the black light 😮😊
I could watch that whole blank be turned into shavings. That's trippy man
It's been hard to watch your videos since my father passed (i got him started on your videos and we used to watch them together) but he would have loved this and tried to make a pen blank like this.
Now we need to see those glowing resin leftovers in a clear resin sphere or cylinder! That would make for an awesome UV light fixture or something.
This just popped up in my notifications center brooo I haven’t seen your videos in forever. I’m happy you’re doing well!!
ooo even the shavings are pretty& cool!
Psychedelic👍I was trippen🤣
Love the project! Very cool how the colors were separate. Safety cone has no sense of adventure.
"Micromesh is it's own grit system, it goes from 5000 to 12000" is like this channel's "the fitnessgram pacer test is a multi-stage aerobic capacity test that progressively harder as it continues"
I broke my thumb about 6 weeks ago improperly using a power drill...
I get my cast off tomorrow and plan on keeping it for something.
I was thinking about making some kind of a symbolic art piece for my work area to remind me to be fully present at all times...
LOVED THIS!
I know it was actually quite safe, but there is something incredibly funny about one of your first projects post-cast was using powertools in the dark hahaha
Well done, that looked so cool. I can only imagine it looked even crazier in-person!
You have to have to do something with those shavings this is really awesome
"I called OSHA!" 😂
Haha Mr. Safety cone... you should have known!
The shavings look like confetti that would have been loved by my raver friends in the early 2000s.
I know that’s probably dangerous… but thank you for your risk, because that looks cool af!
Oh no Mr Brown is the first thing I thought of can you make something with the shavings they look amazing
Great Ventriloquist act at the beginning there. Didn't even see your mouth moving.
Wooooow....10 out of 10, do recommend high
