After owning the Pedal Commander for about a yr one day my car went into some stupid limp mode where the pedal would not work properly and I had to press down on the pedal to get the car to go. RPMs would shoot up and stay at 4k rpm. I took it off car went back to normal after a reset and idel relearn. I opened my pedal, cleaned it thinking it might have been the pedal due to a code I got. Well turns out after a few months of not using it that installed the dam thing again and about 2 months after reinstalling it the pedal went into limp mode again, this time totally ruining it. I cant say for sure it was the pedal commander but I am not putting it back. Had to buy a new pedal and problem went away. Not risking it because next time it could be the cars ecu or something else. I drive a 2015 infiniti q40.
I had a g37x and that cars stalls and limps from time to time. It might be an infiniti thing. Throttle body and ecu cleaned out and had new plugs . Even new intake filters and fuel line checked. It still limps so.... decided to sell it.
I have the pedal commender for 4 years and never had a single problem, you probably changed setting being on the throttle which will cause problems, other than that the pedal commander has nothing to do with the ECU or TCU
it adjusts the signal to the throttle position sensor is what it does and sends that to the ECU and trims out any curves or other attack/decay values that the ECU normally sees
That’s awesome thanks for the video I ordered pedal monster. I live minutes from Texas motor speedway. Thanks for the video neighbor take care and thanks for the video.
I am thinking about a pedal monster for my 2011 f150 5.0. I've always hated the throttle "lag" in my truck. I also have a boosted mustang that I occasionally drive. When I get into that after driving my truck it's super jerky because the pedal is sooo sensitive and it takes me a while to get used to. If both pedals felt the same that would help.
Great video! Finally someone who gives a good honest review! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this video! I saw how you installed the pedal monster on your truck. It seems easy. I have a 4Runner limited and I’d like to buy the same Pedal Monster model you have. I am no expert concerning cars…can a guy like me install this device by himself? Do you know if the Pedal Monster can be used in an all wheel drive with H4F H4L L4L DAC and A-TRAC without negatively affecting those functions? Thank you.
Thanks for watching and thank you for taking time to comment. I am sure you can install this without issue. The hardest part of the install is finding a place to mount it. Just make sure you secure everything so it does not fall into your feet while driving if you mount it above your pedals like I did. Also, be sure and connect to your phone before tucking it away. It should not affect any of your drive modes, it only translates throttle input.
Thanks for the install and review! When you have a moment, please give Low Speed Trim a try. You'll find it in the Menu under Settings. This feature reduces the sensitivity PedalMonster adds under 10 MPH. No other throttle controller can claim this feature since it's patented, along with Reverse Safety. It's the only device like it that sets you back to stock in reverse.
Mynamefly I have 2022 4Runner TRD ORP and just installed mine today. Install was extremely easy. The hardest part was running the wire which can take some patience. I used 3m Velcro to stick the unit on the right.
Yah you unplug it and the same problem will happen again eventually. Its a hassle. Pedal monster just reverts back to stock if it fails no need to unplug from the pedal.
Just ordered one... very informative , I do have ONE question - If you unplug the OBD2 connector to use a code reader / live data while driving...without disconnecting the unit at the gas pedal will it just revert to stock mode ??? Hope so! I'm selling the commander..no issues yet but i dont like it jumpy in parking lots while getting between other vehicles. I do use the obd2 "sometimes" but not interested in a splitter. thanks man!
@@dieselmex1808 sometimes to troubleshoot you need to plug a scan tool in, choose your live data mode and take a ride with it monitoring and giving a data stream to the software. if you do your own wrenching it becomes useful at times.
So, question. Does the pedal monster stay on the setting you leave it on after starting and stopping the engine? Or, do you HAVE to have your phone with you every time you start up?
@@chitowncheese9639 turns out I had to remove it. It threw the check engine light on. Took it to the dealership and they fixed it. Wasn't communicating something. Then I got a "communication error" and truck had no power whatsoever. Removed pedal and battery worked again. Guess it's not for me
I watch you video I was thinking of purchasing the banks power pedal for my 2021 f150 powerboost do you think this is a good investment now that you been using it for some time of just a waste of money
Can you adjust the throttle curve on how jumpy the response is from when you initially press the gas? As in can you make it ease into the reaction time so you can start goin from a stop smoothly? With the sprint booster it constantly made take offs jumpy even at the lowest setting... I sold it eventually... Great review !
Because PedalMonster is connected to the truck's ECM via the OBD port, it can see your speed and gear. This data allows for a feature called Low Speed Trim. Open up the mobile app's menu, navigate to Settings and you'll find Low Speed Trim. You to tell PedalMonster how much sensitivity you want it to add under 10 MPH. We designed this feature for those who tow and don't want to jerk their trailer around when leaving a stop light. As you exceed 10 MPH, PedalMonster seamlessly rolls in its added power until it reached your pre-selected level in City, Sport or Track. It's also great for driving on slippery roads where you want the throttle to remain stock until you reach higher speeds. It's just one its many patented features. You can learn more about it here. bnks.pw/3rW8mf5
Banks is smoother. It is also safer due ot the fact that it goes back to stock when you put the transmission in reverse. The Commander has also been known to fail and leave your vehicle stranded. The Pedal Monster has a fail safe mode so that if it were to fail, it will bypass and you still have your stock setting.
I have pedal monster Love it but keeps throwing code for service throttle sensor, disconnected it But don't like it disconnected?? How to remedy this problem 😕
I'm sure it can be used on different vehicles with the same platform, engine, and trans. Like a 2016 Silverado with the 5.3 and 6 speed, should work in a Sierra with the 5.3 and 6 speed. I'm not sure if I'd try it in a 2019 with the 5.3 and 8 speed. I'd call customer service to be sure though.
You have to remove it before going for a dealership service because it will void your warranty. As for the Pedal Commander , if it faults all you have to do is unplug it from the excel-orator body and reconnect the original cabal it takes less than a minute (anyone could do it) So to be stuck on the side of the road is crazy
They’re definitely worth the investment. Hopefully JET doesn’t throw the vehicle into limp mode when it faults. That was my real complaint with the Pedal Commander.

So it's totally safe I thought it adjusted the fuel timing making it run more richer
@sajidqureshi2175 it's not dangerous no. Assuming it is installed properly there should be no issues using it whatsoever.
@karlchilders5420 so it has noting to do with the fuel timing from ecu
@sajidqureshi2175 No, it adjusts the throttle position, not the timing or fuel curves.
I've had both and prefer Bank's Pedal Monster. Smoother on my 4Runner and has several safety features.
I had a very similar experience with the pedal commander on my Ram. I didn't learn after the first 2 times, happened 4 or 5 before I quit using it.

When the pedal commander failed were you able to just unhook it and get back on the road? Or was it stuck in limp mode?
Does the pedal monster retain whatever setting you choose or does it need to be reset every time the vehicle is started? Thank you
It retains the last setting. No need to reset every time.
