  • 👋 In todays video we install a much needed power accessory for the 2023 Toyota GR86! The pedal commander is definitely beneficial for this vehicle! The Toyota GR86 isn't the faster car, but it's also light weight, so it is quick, but not throw you back in your seat! Every car has a "dead space" at the beginning of the throttle and with the pedal commander, you can actually adjust that to get more usable power quicker!
    The installation for the pedal commander on the 2023 Toyota GR86 is very easy! Simply disconnect the wire on the top of the gas pedal module and plug in the new connections from the pedal commander and you are ready to go!
    There are several settings ranging from Eco to Sport + depending on what type of driving you are doing!
    Sport+ is going to be for "track" or "race" settings where you need that response to be instantaneous!
    For everyday driving, I would recommend city or sport and adjusting the settings depending on what feels best for you!
    With the manual transmission, it's a bit touchy as you could see! I will dial it in and get used to the settings of course, this was a first drive to show what it's like!
    Definitely helpful and I can feel a huge difference with this car, since it doesn't have much horsepower, it's an added benefit to the driving experience of this car!

    Really glad that I put one on my GR86. It makes it much more drivable in everyday situations.. With the stock throttle mapping it was way too easy to bunny hop it down the street. Much easier to be smooth with the clutch now. Though it does irk me to spend 350 on a tool that only does one thing.

    What I've found in the GR86 is that the throttle input does not match the power the car gives you. For example you can put your foot down 25% of the way but the car gives you like 75% of the power. The rest of the pedal travel does bassically nothing. This makes this car difficult to drive slow in my opinion. I'd like a more liniar throttle. Do you think this pedal commander fixes this issue?

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  8 місяців тому +1

      I could see that! It is an interesting car to drive at slow speeds. If anything, using a lower setting could help, like (city and a negative setting)! That would help reduce that feeling with the pedal. I'll have to try that and see!

    By the same token could you shorten the clutch pedal travel thereby making it a "short clutch"?

    With the pedal commander, does it eliminate the lag at initial tip in of the throttle? I do a lot of city driving, so that part is important to me for buying this

    Curious if this is actually needed on the 24 GR86.. I had a 16 BRZ and had a PC for it - it 100% needed it, and it made a huge difference. I just traded it in for a 24 GR86 and I feel like it doesn't need it at all, except maybe a split second from a dead stop. They're fairly cheap so I'm probably going to get another one. I wish they were backwards compatible.. if anyone is looking for a PC for a gen 1 I am selling mine

    waste of money....acclimate your foot tuning

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  10 місяців тому

      Really? You can adjust the “dead space” with your foot? Curious how to can modulate that since it’s impossible to do with your foot. This actually works, try it first.

    • @tone3560
      @tone3560 10 місяців тому

      @@BrosFOURRSpeed You can...its called proactively compensating with increased pedal pressure to negate the dead space.
      This acquisition of this product is the epitome of 1st world problems that I wouldn't even consider remotely an annoyance in my opinion more like a trait. Some how people are gullible and annoyed enough to buy it so what do I know.
      The people that buy these are the same people that btchd about clutch engagement being finicky and changed out the clutch spring.
      Im sure the product works but its a waste of money in my opinion to serve those that feel the need to mod everything to their liking regardless of the dollar per happiness ratio.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  10 місяців тому

      @@tone3560 I highly disagree with that. Sure you can give the vehicle more gas, but that doesn’t make up for the delay in acceleration. I mentioned all of that in the video. Certain situations where at slower speeds, you need better response without more gas input.
      It works, no one is gullible in buying it when it actually does something.

    • @tone3560
      @tone3560 10 місяців тому

      @@BrosFOURRSpeed I can see where your coming from but the price vs "this issue" to me isn't worth the purchase.
      If this product never existed nobody would complain about "the issue" to even fathom creating or wanting this device so essentially a product was created to combat a non-issue for business predicated on busting out a magnifying glass and over-exaggerating a micro sized trait of throttle input for revenue.
      Take the money and hit up the track. (dont tell me what to do with my money) Yup the same ole rhetoric.
