March 2024 update: surprisingly I managed to just add the latest ikea remote and able to see all the entities and actions without having to use this blueprint.
I'm not sure why, but the first two times I paired it, it didn't have any entities. The third time, it had "identify" and "power" level. I was then able to use the blueprint. Great video, thanks for helping!
For some reason, my setup doesn't distinctly differentiate between long and short press. I put one light on the SHORT, another on the LONG. Short press works on the single intended device. But long press will activate both. Anyone share that experience?
I can share the general experience of spending days and days trying to get home assistant to do really basic tasks, but with so much 3rd party open source integrations, when something simply doesnt work, you dont have much hope of figuring out what bit isnt working, and because you are then in a pretty unique rabbit hole, google or youtube cant help you much either. You can try wasting more days or possibly weeks of your time to achive what should be simple (basically get buttons to turn things on), but youve got no guarantees it will ever work. Home Assistant is a great concept but is light years behind in terms of usability.
Thank you for this video. I’m about to setup my ikea controllers and I was dreading having to create a new automation for each button. Would have been so messy. That blueprint is fantastic. Thanks for sharing! Cheers :-)
i had the same issue. what type of ZigBee adapter do you use? I'm thinking of switching to a USB stick like the one shown in this via. I think it might help provide a stable connection and hopefully also help with battery drain
@@sdtok527 OP: "but the blueprint doesn't work. Do you know a solution?" Turns out two years later no one has answered that. Hence my advice, "Don't waste your time". If you don't want to follow that advice, you don't have to, and I don't need to tell you what I think of you, you can work that out for yourself.

Thank you. Such a very clear video
Thank you very much for the well explained video!
This was a great help, thanks!
Nicely done. I appreciate the simple, quick help. Looking forward to more!
Simple, quick?
Question. does it now work without the need of blueprints.
or are blueprints required [sonoff zigbee 3.0 stick type E]
Great video! Can you automate it to control the ikea light bulbs, eg IF sun is down; WHEN light is powered on; only turn on at 50% power ?
Yes
Hi have you figured out the battery issue? I have 3 ikea tradfri buttons and the eat up the cr2032 batteries fast.
make sure the firmware is recent, helps allot
I need to look at this, 10 days in and 87%.

@@is95js I use the Conbee stick. In my case updating the firmware of the Tradfri buttons was the sollution.
@@BartCockheyt how did you update the button?
Can I use any zigbee bridge like philips hue ?
delete the automation: edit the automation, right upper corner 3 dots, delete automation
can you also link ikea covers?
I have a new version of the remote but the blueprint doesn't work. Do you know a solution?
Use Ikea gateway and dont waste your life with HA. Your issue is a classic example of why HA is a foolish pursuit.
