I wish the ikea plug would also measure power consumption. Would replace my aqara ones in a heartbeat. All in all I think ikea makes some of the best zigbee devices. The price value is great and I have the least problems with them.
@@rapha5586 if you're not insisting on zigbee you can already get power monitoring sockets that run Tasmota or ESPHome over Wi-Fi, at reasonable prices (around €12-13 delivered)
Definitely in the market for the plugs. Power monitoring is a different problem to switching things on and off. I don't want to pay for it unless I need it!
Bro, you wouldn't believe how grateful I was to my daughter for making meatballs yesterday and having leftovers in the fridge. The Pavlovian reflex is cruel 😋I agree that even though I’m also missing power monitoring price/value ratio is great. Especially if it’s discounted. I use old Ikea plug for charging managment (20-80%) of my dashboard and it’s totally fine. It doesn’t even have button so I cannot manually turn it on/off. Good excuse for upgrade 😎
HA HA HA HA!!! Sorry for that, but it's good that you were stocked up. Looks like IKEA will be releasing new/different plug later this year with power monitoring functionality.
It is better to buy TRETAKT with RODRET remote in the set, in DE set costs 10 EUR, and only Tretakt 8 EUR. Rodret can be used then with other devices (I am using it for controlling my LED controller :-)) BADRING - I dipped one in the water, and water was everywhere inside, and learned the hard way that is not to be submerged, but only bottom should be in water. It is very nice and practical with one AAA, but as I also have Aquara like you showed, I find Aquara far more usefull because one can screw wires to Aquara poles, and keep Aquara away from water or closer to the Zigbee hub. Another issue is that alarm can not be turned off - it sounds always and sounds like fire sensor as well. And greetings for the ancestor of najveceg sina nasih naroda i narodnosti 🙂!
Yes, combo is really good deal. I decided to not buy it as I have a lot of older switches and I don't like the size of new ones. Sorry to hear about it - yeah, it can not be fully submerged. Aqara one is still working good but hating that "hidden" button thing. It's good that I don't need to squeeze very often to get it in pairing state. I hvala puno ;)
LEDVANCE had WiFi Plugs smaller than this and measuring consumption for 5€ or 20€ for a pack of 4 last year or so. And since then I buy LED Vance during november or so if they are again down to 20€ for 4 .
Thanks fot the video. I was searching what the additional entities means (On level, On/Off transition time and Start-up current level). You did not provide the answer but at you were fair to say that you do not know. Perhaps you will find out in the future the meaning.
You can try pressing the button briefly during the configuration - to keep them awake. Or you can simply reset them and it should continue the pairing process. I think it's taking too long to pair and device goes into sleep - but that's just my guess.
Actually IKEA has an even better device for some places. It is called IKEA KNYCKLAN it is a water leak detector with a valve to turn of the water. So if there is a leak it will not only alarm, but also turn of the water. It also has a remote so you can manually turn of the water.
@@clintbarton2280where I live they call the Ikea store the invisible condom :) - you spend the whole day there, no time left. Although it could get a lot more expensive!
Not as easy and efficient as disabling the beeper in software but you could try sticking some thick tape or glue on those perforations in the case. Or, you know, open the case and cut one of the wires/traces going to the beeper.
Try re-pairing it. I had it once stuck in leaking state, removed it, added back and it was OK. You can try pressing button on it every 2-3 seconds until pairing is complete...
If you want to use lugs with IKEA App, they require IKEA Hub. As these are not WiFi devices but Zigbee, they will always require a hub or coordinator to get them working.

In October, IKEA will expand its smart home energy offerings by introducing INSPELNING, a new smart plug that measures energy consumption!
@@markhaakman4024 uhh that's great news! Can't wait 😁
Right - Tommy posted this info also few days ago - missed info on that and really looking forward to it.

If you'll need for specific workload power monitoring, IEKA will be releasing new plug later in second half of the year that will also have it.
I bought them the past month.
They work as expected. I really like the AAA batteries change.
Much better than those CR2032 or similar.

9:12 do you have a video on the virtual light?
In one older video just as a snippet.
Here is the link to documentation - it's very easy to set: www.home-assistant.io/integrations/switch_as_x/

I can't get it to pair with both the plug and home assistant at the same time, if HA is down, the button doesn't work. How did you do this?

My Ledvance, after 2 years, started turning on by itself very often, so I scrapped it, but is by dimensions like Trektant from IKEA.

First Ikea store due to open late 2025. Will have to make my own meatballs.
Not on the Canadian website. Interested in the Badring for basement.
They will probably arrive soon.
Dang now i want some meatball 😄🤔
My goal - get everyone hooked on meatballs :)
Thanks for sharing B.T.
Thank you Ron!!
Tried a couple of Ikea leak sensors using ZHA and both stop in configuration before completing installation (sonoff zigbee usb). Any idea?

@@BeardedTinker Let me know if you want me to get you one. They sell them in Sweden.
Thanks for the offer! I'll wait for it locally as I don't have anywhere to install it now for test.
I’m new to this and have only just got ha, no devices yet but will be mainly zigbee. Do these plugs work as zigbee routers also?
Yes. Rule of thumb - most of Zigbee devices that are constantly powered (not by battery) are routers too.
@@BeardedTinker off to IKEA it is then, the Mrs will be happy haha

can this work without the beeper? or is the beeper hardwired to sound off each and every time it is triggered?
No, you can't turn it off. It's hardwired in sensor.
Not as easy and efficient as disabling the beeper in software but you could try sticking some thick tape or glue on those perforations in the case. Or, you know, open the case and cut one of the wires/traces going to the beeper.

Great Video... Does it also function as a Zigbee Router ?
Thank you! Power plug? Yes, it does.
For me Leak Sensor is not going to clear state in both Zigbee to MQTT and ZHA 😢

Does someone know about the plugs connectivity with ikea app do I really need a hub?

Thank you. Great video!
It's a pity that this outlet doesn't have energy monitoring.
True, but there will be a new one released in a few months that will have power monitoring
Will this integrate with Bosh Smart Home system?
Shame it doesn't do power consumption as it seems to be a great device otherwise
Looks like they are releasing device with power monitoring in second half of 2024.
