    • @oneSayan
      @oneSayan Місяць тому +3

      grigori's was our teacher of the cycle and how the arisen's will keepa the world from dying.
      daimon was the corrupted version of a cycle.
      this dragon/old arisen knew about the consequences of letting a world run without guide breaking the cycle and having limited willpower (he probably lost agaisnt the pathfinder/watcher; theres no more true seneschals after rothais).
      the guardian dragon/pathfinder its the Big Seneschal (if you will) in place of the Great Will managing the world
      by breathing new life/sentience (pawn ending words) into our own pawn without sacrificing our life despite being humans means that we have overpowered the dragon. his final worlds states that a new world/tale is being born and that hes actually dying. in the end we are being enveloped by the dragon's heart while putting them to rest.
      In the first game we take the place of the last seneschal; in the true ending we sacrifice trying to break the cycle (our pawns gainst sentience/body with the bestowal of spirit: like selene and the fool). In the second's game true ending we become the new Guardian/Will that turns our world into a real one. We know that the world escaped the "survival cycle" because theres no more brine; it stopped being a simulation,
      The rivage elder never lied to us, he was after all an arisen that gave up before the world (unmoored world, overflown by the brine/red mist) being shown by the pathfinder/guardian dragon

    Sadly, this dragon is not Grigori. This dragon is just a dragon. He wasn't even Arisen before he became a dragon. That's because Rothais was the world's previous Seneschal, but he thought the job was wack and wanted to be a warlord instead. The Watching One, or the Pathfinder (blue eyed dude), stepped in and mantled the job of Seneschal in Rothais' stead. However, the Pathfiner is a fuckin' doofus and doesn't know how to be a good god, so he just flung the world into a perpetually deteriorating cycle. This dragon is the same dragon that the Arisen before you fought and failed to kill, and is the same dragon all the way back to Rothais' last would-be successor. Which means, I think, Rothais is supposed to be DD1's Arisen or, more likely, is one of DD1's Seneschal's successors. Either way, sadly, this dragon is not Grigori in DD2. :(

    • @Aithalothes
      @Aithalothes 7 днів тому +2

      Rothais was never the Seneschal, he even outright says it. He killed the dragon, founded Vermund, and then aspired to rule the world. He eventually encountered the Pathfinder, and realized that the world was stuck in a perpetual cycle.
      There is no Seneschal in this world, nor is it connected to the first game. This is a separate world, as all of Dragon's Dogma is a multiverse.
      Rothais even says "This world has lain 'neath the Watching One's unwavering gaze ere the dawn of its history".

    I know the main line makes the dragon fight inconsequential compared to the previous game, but I'm still incredibly disappointed by how short and easy the fight was. It's still a major turning point of the game, and yet he's basically just an enlarged drake, but slower.

    Spoiler warning: am i the only one disappointed with how they changed the story? In 1 everything that happened was because you willed it to be, Grigori even straight up said this, your will was of that of a giant raging flame compared to a meager candle of everyone else. Your will is why you are the arisen, your will is what spurred you to action and to take up arms against the dragon and eventually kill him. Your will saw you dive into the world beyond and prove to the seneschal that you had the will to take up the mantle and lead the world until the rise of a new arisen. Victory or defeat, life or death, everything happened because you willed it so. In 2 everything is preordained, everything is destiny and should you defy that destiny the world will be thrown into chaos and will eventually end, you have no free will because the great will has already chosen for you, you are just a slave to continue the chain and are special only in the regard that you were chosen to be special. Just a complete 180 from the first game and makes everything seem so much more bland

      I always thought the dragon existance was god getting piss at us for making the tower of Babel and the underground one. Just fed up, make a cycle of death, destruction, and despair with only one way to stop it. Kill the dragon, acsend to heaven, and seek the audience of a empty throne.

      The Dragon was an arisen who fought seneschal, and lost, If you played the first game, and lost to the final boss, you in turn will be turned into a dragon to find another arisen to fight the seneschal when the cycle begins anew..

    • @hapmaplapflapgap
      @hapmaplapflapgap Місяць тому +6

      The role of Destiny (the dragon's dogma / the cycle) and Will in both of these games is exactly the same, but they just throw a bunch of twists to the story and how these two themes fit together in a new way. In both this game and the last, you are simply one of many, but because you have a strong will you get a chance to prove yourself and become the one to restart the cycle. It's pre-ordained that the cycle will continue by someone who's will is strong enough to defeat the dragon, It's not pre-ordained that you are the one to do this: In both games there are many Arisen that failed and lost their will to fight. This cycle/will relationship is true in the last game and in this one. The only difference is what happens to Arisen that are so exemplary that they continue to exert their will even past the position of Senechal.

    I found this fight to be very disappointing. Mainly because its just a lame rehash of the dragon fight from the first game but less epic.
    In the first game you attack the dragon which pisses him off with everything exploding around you. You and your beloved are separated. The dragon chases you in an epic way. Then you chase the dragon in an epic way. You eventually jump on the dragon's back and attack it. Then you both fall onto the final battle field. You kill the dragon and you and your beloved are reunited. Its actually my favorite boss fight in any game.
    Here the dragon just offers you a ride on his back to the battle field...😐

    • @GamerWordDotNet
      @GamerWordDotNet 5 днів тому

      On one hand, I think it's a valid complaint. On the other hand, the game tips you off on multiple occasions that fighting/killing the dragon isn't the way to "break the cycle". So while I think the game would've benefit from a dragon fight similar to the first game's, they clearly put less work into because it wasn't supposed to mean as much from the story's PoV.

    Am I the only one that thinks this game is average at best? I'm only about 30 hours in and already on the final boss? Not to mention there's so many holes in the story. The chick shows up in the dragon's hand and I've talked to her twice throughout the entire game? I'm sure somebody's gonna make some dumb comment about how I must not play RPG's but I've put in probably close to 1000 hours on the dark souls franchise and love the first dragon dogma. But here I am at about 30 hours in on the final boss and he is completely unbeatable for my level 34 character. This has been an all-around waste of $70, IMO

      It is a great game and I suspect you didn't actually play it.
