    I had this error code on my 2003 Taco and used contact cleaner on all the plugs I could access and it actually worked. Thanks for the video

    Quite helpful thank you. Gotta dig into this today. Also, on the park neutral sensor issue consider lubing the shift cable. When I had my head gasket replaced my shifter was very tough and I got this code in 2018. They took it back the next day, sprayed silicone on the cable, and worked fine for 6 years.

      Good luck. This video was done a few years ago. I also had to replace the neutral safety switch myself after cleaning the contacts in the junction block. If it shifts hard, that sounds like it's the culprit after all these years.

    Thank you very much for the efforts demonstrated regarding the P0705 Codes and the effort to resolve this code issue. Did the problem code reappear ? In the months passed since. Appreciate your tips on maintaining these 4WD Vehicles.

      Hi Paul, it did actually return about 6 months later. I then checked all the wiring, and it turned out to be the park neutral safety switch that time on the transmission. So far, it's been problem free now for about a year or so.

      @@wjgrandcherokee did you replace the safety switch mechanism or just clean it?

    • @wjgrandcherokee
      @wjgrandcherokee  11 місяців тому

      @81cody i just cleaned it with electrical spray purchased at your local parts store. This fixed that problem for months. I then later discovered the neutral safety switch failed and replaced that. I no longer have that truck, but it was good for a year. If it's heavily corroded, the whole harness would need replacement. That's big $$$$ i also resealed the boot where the water can get in.

    What did you use to clean the corrosion off of the pins and female receiver?

      I used a small acid brush and some electrical cleaner spray from a local parts store. I got the acid brushes from harbor freight. I use them to put the dielectric grease on also.

    I have a 2006 Ford Focus and I had that code but absolutely no symptoms that are listed on the internet if the switch is bad. I erased the code and I will see if it comes back. Sometimes can you get a fluke code on anyting and it all checks out okay without replacing parts? Your thoughts?

      Hi yes its possible for electronics to do funny things, especially if the mileage is high. I would clear the code and give it some time. If it comes back, it will have to be diagnosed.

    My old man recently got the same code on his truck, hopefully its the same bezel thing corroded on his and not the transmission range sensor😅

      Ya, if it's the range sensor in the salt belt states get ready for some struggling. I replaced that a few months down the road. They seize to the shifter shaft.

    My code clears, p0705… stays off for X amount of time. Somtimes hours of driving. But then will trigger again

      Mine did the same thing after I fixed the corrosion in the connector. I knew the wiring was good, it ended up being the park neutral safety switch on the side of the transmission. That was also contaminated with corrosion inside. If the shifter moves hard that's most likely the culprit.

      @@wjgrandcherokee the shifter moves fine. So what connection do I check for corrosion

    • @wjgrandcherokee
      @wjgrandcherokee  4 місяці тому

      If the connector inside that's shown in the video is good, it's either the wiring, neutral safety switch (on the transmission) or possibly in a rare case the transmission control module. My neutral safety switch was the culprit the second time the code came back. My case was probably because I plowed with it. Toyotas fix on the later models is to replace the whole harness if the plus is corroded.
