    I am needing to do the same. My truck has a 25 gal. tank & I purchased, paid cash. $30 of fuel @ $2.79 per. My gas gauge read 1/2 tank & the purchase raised it to 3/4 tank. I double checked the pump display & it seemed correct, but my gauge showed less than expected. The station is new, opened two weeks ago.$30 should have got me 10.7 gal. fuel, but my gauge showed I received 6.25 gal...a considerable difference. Maybe the fuel gauge is inaccurate. The truck is 20+ yrs. old, runs well & I know it well, haven bought it new in 2003. Be very aware out there! Mistakes can be made & fraud could be involved.

      It's funny you say this, the station everyone flocks to a couple of towns from me is the one I want to check. The price is always cheaper, but I don't always get as many miles per gallon when I buy the gas there. I didn't check it this time because I wasn't near there. I should also test the ethanol content or send a sample to a lab.

    At our stores there is a difference. Within the chains and from chain to chain. Not only in the amount but also the milage. I have gotten regular from the premium pump because my computer instantly dropped the milage to regular gas milage. After a time, someone comes to test octane. We also see where the seals on the pump settings are broken after the state testing is done. This is with one particular chain. We never experienced this before this chain acquired these stores. The competitors never do this. However they will lower octane.

    Well I can say the worst way to do this is how he did it. Sending a sample to a lab would be the correct way. From what I’ve seen over the years is the only station you can almost guarantee you’re getting what you pay for is chevron. They randomly dip stations tanks to check for proper fuels. All the others depending on station you could be getting low grade out of the high grade because it is cheaper for them to do it that way.

    • @wjgrandcherokee
      @wjgrandcherokee Місяць тому

      I agree 100% I didn't test the contents of the fuel, grade, or the mixture. It would have to be sent out to a lab. Whether there was 10% ethanol, water, or whatever other additive, I wouldn't know. I was simply measuring to make sure whatever was coming out of the pump, it was a 1 gallon.

    Did this fix the p0022 & shudder still? Neither came back? My 14 v6 Tacoma just threw the same code and I DO have that same shudder around 35-40mph. Only 84k on the truck… mechanic quoted $600 to replace both sensors which I thought was expensive.. thx

    • @wjgrandcherokee
      @wjgrandcherokee 2 місяці тому

      This did fix the p0022 and the shudder. It can be numerous issues that cause shudders, though. The well-known one is the torque convertor in the transmission. I don't know where the cam timing would stay if you were to unplug the solenoid, but you may be able to do that or just replace the solenoid and see if it fixes it. If it fixes that code and you still have the shudder, i would have the trans fluid changed.

    • @Chris-nb1rt
      @Chris-nb1rt 2 місяці тому

      @@wjgrandcherokee going in Monday to change trans fluid, on my truck the p0022 code actually went away on its own and hasn’t come back. I’m going to see if trans fluid helps or not, if not I’ll try doing these VVT solenoids to see if that is the issue. I’m dreading it being the TC though, shifts very smooth so I’m hoping between trying these things resolves it. Did your truck have an ever so slight rough idle before changing the vvt solenoids?

    • @wjgrandcherokee
      @wjgrandcherokee 2 місяці тому

      @Chris-nb1rt Yes a bad solenoid could definitely cause a rough idle. Chances are if the code went away it was electrical and not timing chains. These valves can definitely get weak over time. Also make sure your battery is good and the cables are clean and tight. Mine through the code with the battery getting weak.

      Mine did the same thing after I fixed the corrosion in the connector. I knew the wiring was good, it ended up being the park neutral safety switch on the side of the transmission. That was also contaminated with corrosion inside. If the shifter moves hard that's most likely the culprit.

    • @Filling_tags
      @Filling_tags 5 місяців тому

      @@wjgrandcherokee the shifter moves fine. So what connection do I check for corrosion

    • @wjgrandcherokee
      @wjgrandcherokee 5 місяців тому

      If the connector inside that's shown in the video is good, it's either the wiring, neutral safety switch (on the transmission) or possibly in a rare case the transmission control module. My neutral safety switch was the culprit the second time the code came back. My case was probably because I plowed with it. Toyotas fix on the later models is to replace the whole harness if the plus is corroded.

    Do you or anyone else know (more) about the Taco alignments? Do alignment specs for Tacos say anything special, like full tank of gas V 1/2 tank, or some other specs the alignment mechs could have missed? I ask because I foolishly had an alignment done (because I had bought a lifetime alignment when I bought new tires) and never had it done in 8 years. With brand new tires, it was immediately off . Slow drift to the right. Another set of new tires & 2nd alignment same thing (drift right). 3rd alignment with a 2 week old state of the art alignment machine got rid of most of the drift but it's still there a little bit compared to before I had it done. Alignment was perfect, was able to go all the way across a river bridge without touching the wheel before. Maybe I should leave it alone, it is 90% better than the first 2 alignments. Tires didn't wear. 2 different shops.

    • @wjgrandcherokee
      @wjgrandcherokee 7 місяців тому

      I did have previous experience with an alignment machine at a dealer years ago. This ofcoarse on a Tacoma would vary depending on the mods, added weight, lift, rim and tire, offset, etc. Vehicles naturally from the factory will have a very slight pull to the right with the crown of the road. This is so if anything ever happened (driver fell asleep) ( wasn't paying attention), the vehicle would not drift into oncoming traffic. When i was a tech, if the pull was slightly stronger, then normal, we could try and compensate by adjusting the caster a little higher on one side. Doing alignments can be very tricky for an auto tech, unfortunately at times. If a place has given free alignments, they may be in a hurry due to the profit loss with doing it for free. Hopefully, this helps. There are days i wish I had my own shop, then most days, i think of the complications like this and why I don't work on them anymore, lol.

    • @wjgrandcherokee
      @wjgrandcherokee 8 місяців тому

      Good luck. This video was done a few years ago. I also had to replace the neutral safety switch myself after cleaning the contacts in the junction block. If it shifts hard, that sounds like it's the culprit after all these years.
