The greatest, brings tears, along with immense pride for the Dancer and the rest of Canada, he wins the Remsen, still as a 2 year old (born may 27), he wins the flamingo, florida derby, blue grass, kentucky derby(track record), preakness, wow what an accomplishment, front right always bothered him, had experimental patch for derby, not healthy for belmont, wins queens plate in a canter, and then breeding, amazing, greatest thoroughbred, bred to be a champion, greatest of all time, no one even close.THANK YOU, Northern Dancer for everything.
This documentary is so fantastic. And the way it kicks of with that little rascal looking straight into the camera, eating the roses and acting like a Boss...i can watch that over and over again. It really shows his fire !
I, like many others am proud to own a great grand-baby of Northern Dancer. He is only 15.3hh and never won anything but is the most lovely horse I have ever met.
One of my favourite horses! A true champion and what a spectacular legacy! Every time I visit Woodbine Racetrack I have to touch Northern Dancer's statue. He's brought me very good luck there! Horse Racing would not be what it is today without this great pony!
Northern Dancer's impact on the TB racehorse as sire was huge! So much so that its hard to find a horse running in Britain,or France without his blood, and many times they are inbred to him! Not bad for a little horse who as far as I know never even ran once on grass! Cannot say enough about the little stallion who rocked the breeding scene on a international scale!
They need to make a movie about Northern Dancer. They have a movie about "Seabiscuit" and now coming out with "Secratariet" (which was ridden by a canadian)... But they need to do a movie about Northern Dancer!!! THE BEST RACE HORSE THAT EVER LIVED!!!!!!
Yes Northern DAncer ran twice on turf as a 2 year old at woodbine in 1963. He won 1 and finished 2nd in the other and yes i agree he is considered the greatest sire of the 20th century. Not bad for a little horse with a big heart that no one wanted as a yearling. If only he had won the belmont he would be considered one of the greatest horses of all time
Aw I Love Northern Dancer And Deffintley His Super Sire Son Lol Sadlers Wells Is My Favourite Sire Ever Ill Miss Him At Stud But Atleast Hes Enjoying His Days At Coolmore Thanks For Posting
The Dancer was something special, and many should understand that he was a small TB,and that small TRB's can get it done! They do not have to be 16.3 H. -17 H. giants to be top racehorses!
I have an appendix QH gelding, whose dam was a granddaughter of Northern Dancer and Secretariat. As I watched this program, I could see that my Raven (registered Tuxedo Ladd) was the spittin' image of ND. Made me love him even more.
to bad Winfield Farms is now history. I do hope the person who bought the main house with the graves will allow those of us who loved Dancer will let us still come and pay our respects
I would like to get a closer look at that black picture of Northern Dancer's head surrounded by the faces of his best offspring (I guess that's who they are).
t saddens me to know what happens to some of these beautiful Horses when they done racing. I loved my horses and couldn't imagine ever sending them to Slaughter! link www.nytimes.com/2012/11/02/sports/rescuing-racehorses-from-slaughter-as-industry-bides-its-time.htm video.humanesociety.org/index.php?id=PLCCF0F14147B53DC3

There have been many excellent Canadian horses over the years.
Northern Dancer and Dance Smartly are my 2 favourites.
What a fantastic documentary... thanks for putting this on UA-cam...

Totally agreed. Sadly most people who don't understand racing think if they are tiny than they have a chance.

Secretariat was the greatest race horse of the 20th century but in my opinion Northern Dancer was the most important horse of the 20th century
It’s hard to argue that he isn’t when you put their whole body of work together. Northern Dancer still has impact
Maybe one of the most underrated horses of all time. If he should have won the Belmont, he would be considered the greatest
Northern Dancer is great-great-grandfather to my friends horse called Strandgårdens Lafayette ! :)
this horse is my horses great great grandfather!!!!!!!
Honored to be a 3x2 cousin of Edward Plunket Taylor
