Thank you for posting these but is there a way you can note the original date of broadcast in the description?
PowerNation so what happened to the motor?
You totally lost focus on the main idea of the show.... WTF GUYS...
@@horsepowerhd2464 thank you...I'm glad you see they totally went off focus
I like how Pat breaks down the #'s 👍👍🇺🇸
I wish I had a bigblock laying around in my hallway.
I know right. "Man I'm bored, dunno what to do with myself"
"Dude go and build that big block in the hallway, you've got no excuse for being bored"
I've got three big block Fords laying around, but having the money to build them is another story
That rotating assembly costs more than I paid for both 460s and my '70 429.
I do
I built a couple of 460's in the mid-70's. I had a tough time finding speed parts for them at the time. They are really great engines and simple. So much more is available for them now....it's amazing. Wish I would have had access to some of today's stuff for them.
@@bigboreracing356 Unfortunately, nothing to put it in. That, plus I'm at a point age-wise where I'm probably going to sell my engine stand and puller.....hate to but have more metal in my back/knees/shoulders than I have in the engine.
2 bolt main junk
@@Tsalinger Agreed. Depends on how much power you want to push thru them.....even at that some guys are making good horsepower. There is always the CJ and SCJ blocks in both the 385 series and the FE's. I was building for towing and warmed-up street use. Wonder how far these birds will end up pushing this thing. I'm 73 and a lot of my building days are coming to an end. Dollar for dollar it is hard to pass up the BBC's for strength and power.. Only weakness that shows itself is the heavy valve train if you are really going to wind 'em up....but there are cures for that problem. I fell into a deal 40+ years ago and got a couple of 427 side-oiler Fords on the cheap. Talk about a stout bottom end, forged and cross-bolted. Had a lot of fun with them. Thanks for the comeback.....what are you building? Working on a little 302 Ford now. Have built SBC's and you cannot go wrong there. Had a 440 Mopar in my RoadRunner back in the day....a real thrill. The drivetrain doesn't know what the name on the engine is.....it just knows horsepower! Lemme know what your up to chief! Again, nice to hear from you. Keep the Faith
@@revolutionday1 Either his old lady cut him off or his dog pissed in his corn flakes......
2 bolt main does not equal junk. Plenty of 2 bolts producing reliable big power. You really gotta get out of that old dipshit belief system and move on into the real world. Ever heard of a stud girdle? LOL!
Killed me jumping from the epic 460 stroker to Corvette nonsense. Damn it.
No Prep Stretch when are you gonna post your “1200 hp” car?
🤣 lol
@@bigboreracing356 your switched to the ls side 😂😂😂
Sweet Jesus. The crank is 82 lbs? That is a seriously stout piece of kit
Gas engine... light crank lol. 82 lbs isn’t bad.
Hah the cam in my 702 v12 weighs 400
Thats what I thought too
A 454 crank is 60ibs damn
That UA-cam name is awesome and spot on. XD
598 cubic inches is the max bore and stroke on most 460s before you have to notch the oil pan rails. Also Jon Kaase SR-71 heads and intake are yielding upwards of 1100hp naturally aspirated now. and that was on a 545 BBF I believe
1000 hp on a studded and balanced 468 bbc 2 bolt main on 10 lbs of boost . Proof you can do big power on 2 bolt blocks . Chevy and Ford.
“Head inside and see what’s new”
In my head “a sinkhole”
That's old news lol
You wanna' stick your head in somebody's stinkhole?
I actually remembered wanting to own a Corvette one day, but then I'd started watching the entire transformation of the Powerstop Corvette and all of the work that Mike and Pat put into doing the transmission swap
Suffice to say, I started rethinking my desire of owning a Corvette after all of that
That Ford big block build is making me drool.
Me Too! I wanna put one in my F150
I built almost exactly this about fifteen years ago, but I used Edelbrock Cobra Jet Performer RPM heads and a Victor intake. I never dyno'd it though. Sumbitch lifted the nose of my car with 4.11 locker rear.
That yellow and black vette in the museum belong to my former boss!
I worked at Murphy knives for 11 years.
I've been watching these shows since I was a kid I remember shade tree mechanic remember when Hot Rod TV came out the Motor Trend Channel should pick the shows up

@@bigboreracing356 the name Corvette originated from a speedy gun boat in WW2. Lol.
@@bigboreracing356 yep.

@@bigboreracing356 ; Just watched your 7 videos. BBC? yawn... Your time slips are from May, 2018. Did the rod twist after this test and tune? You bow tie guys always talking about a BBC/SBC is thousands of $$$$$$ cheaper than a similar BBF build. You start the build in Sept, 2019 and here it is Dec.2019.Takes time to get that $$$$ together. Why not the twin turbo small block Ford? If it can "smoke" the featured BBF in this video, it surely can make the BBC explode. :) Anyhow, I learned more about engine building. Thank you. I usually have a pro build my engines, which has been nearly 30yrs. I own a original 1969 Ford Cobra fastback with 428cj, 4spd. 69 Roadrunner, 2009 GT500, and 2013 Challenger R/T Classic. Fun Fun Fun! I'll check out your future videos. John
0:32 - We built a 572 inch BBC from bits/pieces laying around the shop.
Yep, that happens (to me) all the time.
After market block! Chevy limited to 496/502 maxed out standard BBC. A standard 2 bolt 460 is stronger than a 4 bolt BBC. I've raced them both.
Who give a frak about the 'vette!! What about the 460???
Mach One right I’m a ford man I don’t care about anything else but ford
Actually Ford Racing has a cast iron A-460 thats cut for a 4.5-5" stroke that easily puts it near mid 600 cids

@@bigboreracing356 I also herd that if JohnForce/FordRacing would've stuck with the original 69 Boss 9 Shotgun design and beefed up the intake webbing stroked it up to 500 they'd been a hellve lot better off?.. But then again once you get into the 7-10,000 HP range sh*t starts to get real lol
Finally!!! A guy who knows Fords building one! Going to watch and see if this is a one off. If not, I’ll be subbing
The origanal Bigfoot monster truck ran a 429/460 bored and stroked to 640 cubes. Not sure why this considered maxed out.
Cuz its not lol 😂 well 600 cubes !
OMG, the pistons look like they came out of a Train engines !!!! Damn they are huge.
Throw that 557 in a foxbody just for grins and giggles!
You read my mind.
Better modify it to a rear engine for traction
@Skibidoop yea I get that. 🤦🏼♂️
@Skibidoop sarcastic exaggeration about traction,my god kid you must a ball at parties.
@Skibidoop I can tell
Loved the 460/557 c.i.
Ford Build.
Great show guys
Keep up the good work power nation, forget all the negative in here, if they don't like it, they can move on !
Why do I feel like this is the perfect commercial for those continental DW tires
My Dad knew some guys who somehow managed to cross the rods when rebuilding a 440. Apparently the starter wouldn't even budge it. They drug it up and down the road in front of their place and actually managed to get it started. I guess it ran for about 10 minutes which I thought was pretty damn impressive. considering. I guess they used a crow bar to force the one rod over. Not sure if it windowed the block or not, I wouldn't imagine it was much good even if it didn't. Pat saying "If it's tight something not right" made me think of these guys who obviously didn't live by that motto of engine assembly.
I love Corvettes always have always will. I own a yellow 1972 Corvette Stingray with Factory side pipes. And she is a beauty. Doesn't matter what problems the world throws at you. get behind the wheel of a Corvette and Cruise. That big block just drowns out all your problems. And the wind blows them away. Cars may move your body from one place to another. But Corvettes move The Soul. And if you're a Corvette lover you know exactly what I'm talkin about.....
Love Mike’s eyes behind the helmet in the wet
Big like dinner plates !!!
Don’t blame him !
Wth! I came to see a Ford engine build and end up with a Corvette test drive... really 🧐🧐🧐
Exactly!!

I knew there was a ford guy thanks for ur comment .Chevy guys built a ford or jus made the vid.
HA
You will have to wait for part 2 but it is worth the wait, that motor is a monster for sure.
Corey Rowe yeah that was teas🤣😆
Would've been nice to see the second half!
Bruh this was dope
This i believe, as my Dads 1979 Ford F-250 460 was a "stump puller" completely stock, even WITH tons of restrictive smog control!
I can only imagine how powerful and fast this will be.
It will suck. They do not handle big power reliable. They are good at 460hp anything more they will break in about 20k miles. At 460 hp they will last 60k miles before it will need a rebuild. And under 400 hp they will last 200k miles. I pulled 200k miles all while under load pulling stumps out of the ground a few feet at a time
@@gsfbffxpdhhdf7043 A shame you don't know what you are talking about.

Thanks for the video and info my son and i are building a 59 Ford F100 we put a 2009 crown vic front suspension rear 4 link suspension 9 inch rear end engine 460 going to build like the on ur show stroker 557
I had an engine swap in my 89 f350. It was a 460, and it twisted a couple piston rods. But the cylinders are in almost perfect condition. So I would like to do this to my engine one day
When you use a long socket or extention on a tork wrench when Torrington down your bolts it puts more leverage on the bolt so its actually tighter than the company recommends. So it's over stretched by about 5 to 8 pounds.
Bloodviking
If my memory is right..... big block mopars have the tallest stock deck height , & that is part of what makes them easy to stroke. The oil pump being mounted on the outside of the block is also a big advantage compared to Ford & Chevy.
Don't forget shaft mounted rockers and easy intake swaps without pulling distributor !
Looking 4ward 2 the rest of this build .
Which heads . Hope they r from Jon Kasse .
The blue ZO6 that fell into said sinkhole was a champ! Fires up like it has a dead battery
Love the blue oval builds
What a DAD! just love this.....
@powernation What block casting number was this? I'd like to know if this was a thick web or thin web block. Was there any other modifications to the block itself to help it survive the 1100hp you threw at it?
oh my god , the background got me thinking its a video game its so clean everywhere hehehe 🤣🤣
Remember when Roadkill wanted to drive their corvette into the sink hole. Lol
keepum coming!
MMMMMMM some 460 goodness makes me a happy man.
wish i had the money and tools to tinker like this. "Just found this engine block laying around. I'm gonna name it frankenstein's monster" XD
I recognize royal purple assembly lube, even if you do hide the branding under a blue shop towel.
The 1954 "Temporary-Design" small-block engine design needs to be kept in a museum.
8 minutes of engine building. That's about right.
What length pushrods did you guys come up with , I got the same cam for my build . Comp recommended it to me and I noticed it's the same as yours
This probably is an odd question... but, are there cylinder liner kits to reduce the bore of a 460 back to the 4.05" of the 370? Then, adding a 4.50" stroker kit, you'd end up with an engine of ~464 in^3, with undersquare dimensions? I ask because my 460 is in a 1996 F-250 pickup and I'm looking for improved low-end grunt, and with the right cam, a friction-reducing valvetrain, some polishing/porting, an MSD ignition, and good tuning should give a nice flat torque curve peaking at ca. 500 ft/# at 1500-2000 rpm, and top out around 330hp at 4800 or so.
Grinding on a finished block is wild.
i would like to see you switch out the heads and use Kaase Boss Nine Cylinder Heads
What kind of shop has these parts laying around!? Awesome build, btw
Hey that's the engine that Detroit Muscle put in they're 72 Mercury Marquis.

Would this build work in a daily driver now that is 93pump gas, or is it a race engine?
I have been trying to get ahold of Hagerty Red Line rebuild no luck. PN what you do to engine's can be done to all engine's rings, pistons, crank, valves, porting and polishing.all that can be done to any engine.
Just skip from 8:47 on...its back to thier love of everything chevy
A car guy has a bias, shocking.
PowerStop is the sponsor
Do you have any videos on dodge magnums? I have a 1997 dodge ram 1500 with the 5.9l 360ci v8 and I'd like to make some power out of the engine thats already in it.

To all the Z06 owners drive carefully please! We just finished cleaning up the seen of an accident involving a 2007 Z06 Corvette that pretty much disintegrated on impact into a fire hydrant and a tree. The driver is in serious condition, the passenger died on the way to the hospital. Drive safe at all times, respect the horse power under the hood of that Corvette please.
Mamma always told me, stupid is as stupid does.
That's badass
Nice engine. a bore that large, could the engine run hot?
12:25 "Look, that car got murdered". LOL.
A Ford 460 is not "maxed out" at 557 cid. Many articles have been published of 460s turning into 598s or 602s. And that's with the standard 4.90" bore spacing. In fact, pro stock drivers with Chevys or MoPars often used to complain that Fords had an unfair advantage because they were at 4.90 vs 4.84 or 4.80 that others were "stuck" with. Which is why now everybody is equalized at a 5.0" bore spacing.
More of this!
Who watching a 460 build gives a rats but about a damn corvette. Ford all the way.
That child needs to see an ACR viper, I'm sure he will know beauty once he lays his eyes on one.
Looks like you need a bit more pressure in those front tires.
LOVE TO PUT ONE OF THOSE BAD BOY 460s IN A 72 MARK 4 LINCOLN
Man! those pistons don’t give too much for quench!
Uncertain. Wait a minute, I got 600 CID out of my old 385... Granted, performance heads, a little boring, sleeveing, head-grinding and some-odd material removal here and there went into it, but that’s a HUGE difference from what you guys achieved.
Honest. Granted, I often referred to it as a 580 stroker because that’s the stroker kit I put in there, but not including the BDS Blower I stacked on top I was pushing a naturally-aspirated 600 CID exactly. But it’s still way off of 557.
What about the A-460 or similar block that you would HAVE to have to get over a 557? BDS blower........ Yup you are blowing all right LOL. 🤣🙃
Left alot of power on the table with the dish pistons... Use flat tops... and add boost!
When did Tom Green start building motors ?
I love it
Was there ever a part 2 ??????
Could you post a complete part list And specs?

what engine stand is that? Mine holds the 460 but I dont feel safe.
I need this in an 05-09 mustang GT what a beast
Came to see some big block Ford, ended up watching Corvettes
Since Kaase made boss9 heads for these motors you should do a hemi vs wedge comparison
I can't believe you guys did something other the a Small block Chevy..or a LS Swap...so you can think outside the bowtie...Mopar should be next!
Next engine build yall should use a cam that makes it have lope. Like a race car
Next Week: They put that 577 in the Vette!
Did they forget to put in the oil pump gasket? Or does it not need one 🤷♂️
Do jou guys do mopars aswell?
How long you think that engines going to last.
Another great vid, guys. I always chuckle, however, when people use ARP oil pan hardware XD
@@bigboreracing356 I just run a thick ass bead of RTV sealant around the flange, and hold it all together with a ratchet strap. I don't even bother with hardware anymore.
i’d bolt that motor together inside and out with Pro-Series ARP Bolts to make sure it stays together and doesn’t ‘grenade’ under power
Why does the oil pan have that 1/2 quart sump in the front? (guessing on the size)
The JohnKaase pump is longer.
People laugh when I say I had a Chevy 406 2 bolt mains block holding 620 NA Horse reliability, raced on the weekends and driven on the streets, it held up without any issues to an impressive 150HP shot of nitrous as well on both streets and track! With the time taken and care to details and the important things like deburring the blocks it is entirely possible to have a reliable 1000HP stock block engine! I finally had a lean condition cause a top ring seizure when I tried pushing it to a 250 shot of nitrous which unfortunately after a long life was the demise of baby! The top ring was a hair too tight on clearance from thermo expansion which caused a chunk of the piston land to crack off and be pushed through my very expensive Cantfeild head! Bent a rod and cracked the bore. Unfortunately the crack was too long protruding just to the webbing of the block and sadly couldn't safely be saved, unless it was run on strictly methanol and water jackets were hard blocked to seal them from any oil leakage into the water jackets....... But the fact of my story is if that ring never seized and broke the TRW forged piston, it probably still be racing today! I had H beam rods on a cast STOCK 400 crank 010 under a stock 2 bolt block and sadly the parts to give out on me because of something self inflicted were the "Performance" part due to adding much more power than they were ever designed to handle! BUT like I said, I have the last laugh, it pulled a very low 10 second pass 2 times prior to that piston saying goodbye on me on its way into the high 9s before I got it fully tuned in! But the fact of the matter is, please don't ever put a stock chunk of cast iron down even if it's only a mere 2 bolt mains! Of anything back then I ever expected to break like that stock cast crank or mains caps! It was pulling over 800hp but a little lean condition put it in an early grave. Otherwise great Build guy's! Nice to see people having some faith with some old Iron! Thanks!
