Your photography and editing continues to astound me. Every episode is a feast for the eyes. You guys are sailing the world WITHOUT A CREDIT CARD!? Please clarify! You have just risen to a new level of hero for me.
We don’t believe in personal debt. CC are debt, so we don’t have them. We have bank card/ debit cards of course. Money is all digital these days anyway. But debt is slavery, so we’ve opted out before buying the boat.
@@SailingUma Just so you know you can get a Secured credit card just to have for situations like you want to rent a car. I don't believe in having credit cards either, but I like a secured one, and then I just make sure I pay it off as soon as I buy something on it so I don't incur any interest. I find traveling with a credit card easier, but don't want the debt. I literally put something on the card and by the end of the day pay the card off.
@@RiverWoods111 Yes. A "secured credit card" isn't really debt, because the card is secured by you placing your cash into the card account beforehand. This wouldn't make much sense, except that you can use the card for those instances when they insist that you have a credit card.

Yes I gave up all my credit cards 10 years ago and my bank account has grown tremendously!!

I started watching years ago when you were building up and fixing Uma for this trip. It's been so cool watching you take this journey. You have done a great job bringing us along with you. From good explanations, that are not patronizing, to amazing photography and videography. Thank you for all of that. You also do a good job of not being repetitive while sticking to the core of why we follow you. I have no idea how you manage that but it's been a joy.

When I went to Iceland in 2016 my car rental was more than the airfare. It was my first solo trip abroad, and for me, the most amazing adventure I had ever experienced. I can only imagine all you have experienced sailing the world, and well deserved for your great preparation and expertise . I can understand how for you, might seem almost anticlimactic, for many would be the trip of a lifetime. I am glad that you finally found your sweet spot in Iceland, but for me, every moment was magical.
I haven't watched this step yet but just got a message from my brother that your latest video was at this particular hot spring. So happy you found this place. When we were in Iceland a few years ago driving around, I stumbled upon it searching google maps for a cafe. The cafe by the parking lot was closed but the hike and hot spring was well worth the diversion. :)

As a fellow Canadian from the West Coast I have to say I love you guys, and you are living my dream. Events stopped us from sailing our dream. I'm so glad you re able to sail yours!!
The beginning of this video took me down memory lane when my then GF now wife rented a camper van and traveled around the ring road in Iceland for a little over a week back in summer 2018, your first waterfall was our first stop on Day 2 (our first full day) and the hot springs (the water was definitely deeper in 2018) was our last day before we got back to Reykjavík.

I really enjoyed this video; it brought back very good memories of our trip to Iceland in 2014 - we did the same "waterfalls" walk. Good to see that they are still flowing as well as when we were there.

I am a waterfall person. Ours are good, Burney Falls is epic, but , the grandness of the falls in this episode was overwhelmingly astounding ! That first waterfall brings back so many memories. It is amazing how much more touristy the place has gotten since I have left there. I’m so glad you two have been able to experience that awesome part of the world.

This makes me want to go back there sooner than later. The river in Reykjadalur was deeper when I was there a few years ago.
I'm SO GLAD you were able to experience the warm river! It was one of our favorite things we did in Iceland. We did find a couple of waterfront hot springs in northwest Iceland but they were small and local knowledge helped us find them. It most definitely would have been a dream to have been there with Uma at anchor👌. We visited in late September so there were fewer crowds but it was Windy so sailing would have been a challenge. If you ever come to Southeast Alaska we will take you to a natural hotspring you can access by boat.
