This video is criminally under viewed. Nobody breaks down a plate carrier like this and puts that info out there so quickly and clearly. Awesome work and thank you!
Right now as of 3/1/18 there's a sale on AR500's website: * Veritas Plate Carrier WITH level III armor plates for $149 * Veritas Plate Carrier WITH level III armor plates and pouches package for $199 Huge thanks TWANGnBANG for the discount code, that is highly appreciated. Will be purchasing my first full featured carrier w/ armor with that!
Own a rifle? In a SHTF or civil engagement, you automatically become priority number to the enemy because you’re the threat. Rule of thumb is, carry a rifle, wear rifle plates.
I highly recommend buying this carrier with the cumberbun. Had mine a hour before going back online to purchase one. The side buckles are a royal pain, unless you reverse them they will work loose then once I found the tip online to reverse the buckles I couldn't reach back far enough to snap then in place. Once you do have the cumberbun tho this carrier is hard to beat for features, quality and comfort.
Just ordered one, nice deal right now 25% off for black Friday on top of the discount code plus shipping is free. No better time if you're on the fence.
Just wanted to say thanks. I received my Veritas carrier today with front/back plates and trauma pads. Your video got me past my tipping point. Great product; will last for years.
THANK YOU for the Great Review! It helped me decided on the Testudo Gen 2. I got my Testudo Gen 2 plate carrier this morning and I have had it on for an hour. VERY comfortable. With the 11" x 14" AR500 III steel plates, it's heavy (25 + lbs). But after an hour I was already adjusting to the weight. Later when I get used to this weight I'll add the 6" x 8" side plates (6 more pounds). It's a very nice vest with lots of options. I've used a level III+ Soft Armor Plate on this inside of the steel plate, against my body as a spaul catcher. You need to do a video on the spaul catcher soft plates. I did not know a soft spaul catcher should be on BOTH sides of the steel plates, so I've ordered another set of spaul catchers and an 11" x 14" level III+ Soft Plate for my back, under the steal plate as a spaul catcher, between the plate & my body. The level III+ Soft armor stops a 44 mag at 15 feet. A NOTE: I had to used some duct tape across the top of the plates & spaul catcher plates to hold it all together as I shoved it in the plate carrier pouch. It was a tight fit!!! (plates can't move around). IT DOES FIT!
Best deal right now is the lvl III+ ALSC plate bundle for 179 (comes with two trauma pads) + veritas (or lite). $270 total with shipping - better than any of their package deals they promote.
Ordered one today with the cummerbund, half on impulse, before doing all my homework. This video gives a great breakdown and I don't regret the purchase. Thanks bud!
@@TWANGnBANG the gentleman bought with coupon a vest for 42 dollars was that with out the front and back panels? If so what is the least expensive body armor vest with level 111A panels front and back thank you Stan
I'm torn between the Testudo gen 2 and Veritas. The Veritas has the wider distance between shoulder straps (my neck isn't the skinniest, but not the fattest either) but the Testudo looks like it has superior cooling and I like how the straps connect to the front below the neck line. I live on the coast of FL and this will be for mostly shtf.
Thank you for the review and full assembly instructions. I was wondering how the cummerbund was supposed to be put together and how the side armour went together.
Great vid!! I just bought this entire setup like a week ago when it dropped! Wasn't even shopping for this but it popped up when I was searching for black Friday deals. The entire package was like 144 and that included plates AND pouches!
SO glad I ran across this video... ordered one assuming it'd take a month or so to show up (according to their confusing site info) and it showed up 2 weeks later. Awesome Carrier and worth every penny and then some. This replaced a MUCH more expensive plate carrier and I dare say it's nicer.
AR 500 body Armor and their plate carriers are quality at an affordable price. I own both soft and plate armor from AR 500 and comfort and fit are outstanding.
Thanks for the Discount and the review! Thanks in part to you I was convinced enough of the quality of AR500 armor that they just sold a Freeman plate carrier with level III armor and Trauma pads!
I'm a first responder and I was looking for something to protect myself with should the need arise. I checked AR500.com because I've heard about it a lot from others but there were so many options. Your review of the Veritas and other sets have helped me a lot in making my decision. Thanks a lot!
Thank you. This review was very informative and to the point. I just bought my first Veritas and it's a bit different than the mil issue carrier with ceramic plates. I now understand it's function more thoroughly.
Thanks for going into detail with the review. Not a lot out there. The dealz-on-wheelz they put out this year made me jump on this and the testudo. This for a friend, the testudo for myself.
So thank you for the detail and just got mine in I am a small build was the guy who had medium plates with a small IOTV thank you for showing how the cumber bun went together. other wise it would never fit.
Placed my order about 3 hours before you released this video. Damn it, didn’t use your discount code. I ordered the Veritas advanced loadout. $199 with plates, 2 hsgi DD tacos and 1 hsgi x2r taco, great deal! Only had in black though. waiting for them to have coyote in stock and for the price I’ll order another carrier only. Options!
I ordered mine Black Friday with the mag pouch that goes in the kangaroo pouch. Hasn’t shipped yet but it should be here before Christmas. I’m even more excited about it now
Love mine but the "modularity" for different scenarios is WAY overplayed (much like caliber conversion kits). Most all will buy and upgrade/set up the way they like. Mines got the Cumberbun and I will never use the side straps but I'm glad it was possible to change and modify the system to my needs.
@ TWANGnBANG ... Thanks for the great review on the Veritas plate carrier. You were very informative and you covered everything the plate carrier offers. From watching your video about the Veritas plate carrier I order myself one last week. AR500 Armor had a special sale on the Veritas and I could not pass it up. Now I need to be patient and wait for my plate carrier to come in. Thanks again for taking the time and making the videos. Oh one thing.... How could I get one of your velcro patches that says, TWANGNBANG for my plate carrier?
Than you so much! Such a new and huge fan of your channel. I just received my order today and used your discount code. Setting it up now. Thanks again!!!!
Just picked one up during the crazy sale they're having now! Not sure how I feel about this Cummerbund System, it's very comfortable, but what's an easy way to take the vest off and on with a full mag loadout on the front? Seems much more difficult than the basic nylon buckles. Thanks for the review!
The "fully loaded" Veritas option with 30% off "treatyourself" coupon code is a way better deal than their December sale was because it includes the cummerbund, side plates and pouches.
@@thisguydiablo I cancelled my original order and did it this way... call customer service (it takes like an hour to get them on the phone) but maybe they can make it right.
This plate carrier is more than the video says it is. It's actually $80 plus shipping.....a bit on the pricey side for a no name bare bones plate carrier. The Condor plate carriers actually cost what this one is supposed to cost and they are very good quality.
I'm happy with the veritas lite but I'd like to get a veritas just to have options. But what I really, really want for Christmas is the Invictus carrier. Come on man Santa ! 🎅
I like the modular design. What I don't like is that it only supports up to 10x12 armor. I have 11x14 armor in my current system and really don't want to be buying new armor just to get a modular plate carrier.
The Testudo Gen 2 can accommodate 11x14 armor and is currently on sale for only $89. You can use this link and code "twangnbang" to save up to 10% more off your order: goo.gl/H19iLQ
I see you've reviewed both the Testudo Gen 2 and the Veritas. Do you have a preference one over the other? I am looking at getting a Veritas with 10x12 plates and adding the optional cumberbund. But then there's the Testudo Gen 2 that comes with the cumberbund and side pockets already. Right now with the package deal they have going, it's only like $30 extra to get the Testudo compared to the optioned-out Veritas (without side armor pockets). I'd appreciate any input you might be able to offer. Thanks!
My only complaint on this carrier is the huge buckles on the back. When you're road marching, the ruck lays right on the buckles that put my arms to sleep.
thats terrible! i dumped the stock shoulder pads they come with and added the HSGI shoulder pads that go across the entire straps. super comfy, wide and flat so my assault packs dont pinch on my hydration tube and i havent felt the buckles dig in at all. thinking of making a video on my mods to the veritas...
is the veritas plate carrier only able to run the cummerbund from ar500? or is it able to run other cummerbunds from other companies such as ferro concepts?
Do you have any tips on putting on the carrier by yourself? I just got mine and I adjusted it to my body. But practicing putting it on seems difficult. Also got a Micro for my daughter and she is also having a hard time putting it on by her self. Mainly the buckles are hard to grab and snap together while you're wearing it
I’m wondering if this will fit my HSP DC3 Micro chest rig. I see the Velcro in the front but is some other sort of attachment needed to keep it on the Plate carrier?
do they have different options for length of the cumberbund? I've found that cheaper plate carriers use medium to large ones to help accomidate bigger guys, but I'm a smaller guy so it doesnt fit very snug on me.
I have a Ranger Body Armor set currently, and was looking to upgrade my carrier, I wonder if that 10x12 plates from that system would fit in this carrier?
