- We’re taking a look at the worlds of Mad Max: Fury Road, 28 Days Later, The Matrix and Terminator franchise to see which movie's post-apocalypse is the worst of the worst. Beyond just “hardest to survive,” we’ll figure out which one is the most miserable on multiple fronts: Worst antagonists, worst fellow survivors, worst environment, and more!

Yeah, what happened? This channel just dropped off the map.
I've been missing the commentaries. They were one of the highlights of my week.
Used to do daily shows with SJ Universe. Then, when others left, SJU went to 2-3 days a week. That dropped off, but Commentaries & other reviews kept the channel alive. Now they've lost both of those. It's once a month that something gets posted.
The Road. WORST post-apocalypse ever.

Everything past terminator 3 is horrible, john conner is always a different actor, it makes no sense, etc etc.

Sarah Connor Chronicles is set chronologically before T3, until it skews towards a new timeline (wibbly wobbly timey wimey), although it does take two elements from T3.
Personally, I think the show had it's flaws, but was better than T3, taking the Terminator franchise in a new direction, and Lena Headey nailed Sarah Connor IMO.

I think i have the worst possible, a musical post apocalypse movie universe.
Just imagine that every time someone feels overwhelming emotion, a song and dance breaks out.

It was pretty clear that 'The Matrix' would end up being the "best." Most people don't even know there ever was an apocalypse.
We're marching so steadily towards the Idiocracy Apocalypse that I think it's the most frightening.

Idiocracy wasn't an Apocalypse, it was a dystopia and they did what they needed to, to get better so they are better off then us.
It's either going to be Idiocracy or Terminator. We're dumbing ourselves down and promoting AI. It's a 50/50 shot at either future.

Soylent Green is heartbreaking in every way you look at it. It's Mad Max without the outback and the tumors.
You forget that the Terminator lost. They always lose. It’s why they keep going back in time. Can’t be the badest if you’re constantly losing. The Matrix baddies allow the humans to think there’s a savior coming, when it’s not. I think constantly worrying about projectile blood is the worst.

The story of the Old world in Horizon Zero Down is about the fall of civilization not far from us. Many were sacrificed in the last battle against machines so the process of terraforming Earth could start, saving all humanity for the future, until some jackass decided to change plans. Now millennia apart groups of humans starts to leave vaults completely unprepared for new machine word.

I read somewhere that the fleshy suit the T-800s wear can last 120 years but their cybernetic metal endoskeleton chassis can continue operating for another millennia or two before needing new fuel cells (Iridium Power Cells).
Book of Eli world seems pretty crappy too.
you could have been a bit more clear in the category "worst humans" why Terminator is above Matrix - I can only assume it is because of the Terminator movies are basically our society right now while in the Matrix movies people know about their looming enemies and work (mostly) together

I cannot trust a computer to tell me what is and what is not scary. Sure, mad max has a terrible environment, but the others are existentially horrifying. Something a comp can never understand. Even if a computer CAN get self awareness, it can NEVER understand true grief and horror.

Fallout is essentially a copy of the original Mad Max trilogy. The modern Mad Max is essentially nothing more than Borderlands 2 and RAGE combined.
The Aussies do post-apocalypse really well (for some reason) so a worthy winner. Can I just give a shout out, though, to my own favourite P-Ap movie: Doomsday. A viral apocalypse sees Scotland (my ancestral home) being quarantined off, and so reverting to, well, Scotland.
i know it technically doesn't count because it's a tv show based on a video game but I'd be curious how the Fallout setting stacks up against those stats it would just be neat to see
unlike Covid, these movies hardly mention the rest of the world. Its always 1 country. A focus on either the US, UK or Aus (Mad Max)
A quiet place universe … any universe where monsters/ aliens have taken over would be cool to compare
I think that The Matrix universe was severely downplayed in this, but ok. What was actually missing was the Bird Box universe. Cosmic monsters that make one go suicidal or homicidal... even when seen throught equipment... no hope in sight (pun not intended)
Honestly the crossed is the worst apocalypse
While this is a fun little comparison, I also greatly disagree with it. Both Terminator and Matrix are obviously the most dangerous based on the fact that the surviving humans are being hunted by artificial intelligence and not humans. In The Matrix, man may have "scorched the sky", but that doesn't change the fact that the sentinels are now on a killing spree! To act like the machines of the Matrix are less of a threat because man started things...is just ridiculous! Might I remind you of Skynet and human error?! I won't choose between Matrix and Terminator. Both are worst case scenario!!!

You don’t analyze that’s the worst philosophically or metaphysically. Every other apocalypse humans still have some amount of free will, you can choose or fight for your destiny. In the Matrix, even the rebels are part of the program; nothing you do matters.
The worst apocalyptic world would be one in which the hero is a 100 pound waif with an Interoccular distance measured in meters

Fallout is the obvious missing one but that might have been too recent to catch during production of this video. I would also suggest Twisted Metal with Anthony Mackie.
If you count urban wastelands then Dredd would also be good.

Before watching the video I’d say 28 Days Later is the best of the worst. Hard to survive the first few days but if you can find a bunker with food and water then you can basically be invisible. The world is basically still the same and you just have to survive for 3 months.
I still want a 28 Months Later to finalize the trilogy

The Worst Antagonist category was misjudged. The Terminators deserve a solid second place with 28 Days Later taking the top spot. Why? The terminators will kill you quickly and efficiently. My kind of death. In 28 Days Later? They'll eat you nice and slow. Not a good way to go. Yikes
