Thank you meletrix for sending me this pretty keeb to review! Slight disclaimer: the board I was sent is a PROTOTYPE unit so there are some small changes that will be made to the final editions. Overall this was a pretty straight-forward build and I'm just happy that I finally have a cute blue colorway keeb in my collection now hehe...
I normally tape-mod all my boards because I like how poppy and thocky it sounds, but this is surprisingly the only board I like without tape??? Anyways, this is a great budget-friendly board for all you numpad lovers out there, so I highly recommend!

Typo in the vid: PCB has per key rgb regardless of whether or not it's tri mode :)

Gorgeous build, love the cute lil cursor control keys they’re heckin adorable 🥰 nice to see a 98 custom available at a reasonable price, maybe I can now lure my friends in to the deep, dark, expensive world of custom keebs 😅

I just ordered a Zoom98 for my first custom build. I went all out with it. I ordered the anodized black version with all the accessories including a brass plate and WS Morandi switches. Looking forward to building this keyboard in late Jan. or Feb. once it arrives. I have never done a group buy before. Kind of interesting. Thanks for the video. It's very helpful.

Can u please help state which way the standoffs go please? I’m having trouble knowing how or where the standoffs are supposed to be installed? and the paper manual is not detailed enough or explains it in detail. This is my first full intricate build so I’m going in blind it seems. Your help would be appreciated if possible please 😅

It's kind of hard to explain using just words tbh haha so sorry if this makes u even more confused. Basically you're supposed to flip the plate over and screw it in from the backside. There should be holes in the plate already--you can also crosscheck with the cut out holes on your plate foam to see where they would be on the plate. The standoffs have two components, one with the screwhead and another longer part with the threads inside. Screwhead goes in from the topside of the plate and into the second component below. Basically the plate is sandwiched between the two components. You can zoom in to the plate at 2:20 for reference and you'll be able to see the gold piece sticking out from the plate which I have flipped over.

This is a good tutorial and my second time watching it now that my Zoom98 arrived but unfortunately you glossed over the main reason I'm watching it again and that's how to install the stand offs to the pcb and plate. I THINK I have it figured out but I'm not positive. Thanks for the video.

Hey! With all zoom boards, you usually screw the standoffs directly onto the plate itself and then put it on top of your pcb and foams if u choose to add any. The screw themselves go in through the back of the pcb and into the standoffs. Hope that helps! If not, I think my older zoom65 video that I posted a year ago might have footage of me installing the standoffs, but it was a while ago so I don't exactly remember haha :)
