Just because you people aren't into this type of fun doesn't mean you judge other people that are. He's a grown man. He's money got him this jeep, so therefore he does what he wants with it. Im 19 years old and I known how to respect people better than most people in these comments.

I just watched your video. I have a rear mounted winch as well. If I ever get as adventurous as you, I will make sure it is mounted ahead of time. I keep it in the cargo area like you do, however the fact that you were able to hook it up under the water and do a self recovery is pretty amazing. Well done.

Thank you Tadd! I use the receiver hitch with a Warn cable system on it for fast plug in. I also contacted Warn as to what winch to purchase as I used an 8000 Warn then went with a higher end 9500 Warn later. Truck ran for years, sold it late last year. Had so much fun with it and I did a lot of mods on it, most hidden to allow me to do water runs like this. My other videos have some of the detailed mods listed. Have fun!

Some people fix up their trucks to mud or rock crawl, others fix it up to cross lakes.. Don't hate he's obviously put a lot of love into that jeep prolly more love and time than many of you ever have to your vehicles. I'm currently working on an all terrain vehicle. Little bit of everything. Nothing too extreme lol

Nothing personal but why use such a late model for that? I mean with leather interior and all that electrics I think you should have built something from the 90's for such abuse. That poor GC will probably stink inside forever now but glad you are the kids made it out unharmed

    • @2000ViperGTSsubscribe
      @2000ViperGTSsubscribe  9 років тому +7

There is no carpet inside and I bought the Jeep just to go camping and wheeling. It is all relative, so many kids on here, but financially we are good so to me I like having something I can throw a lot of gear in and I do like the leather, cruise control and such. I would do this all over again-this Jeep rocks and KEEPS GOING OVER AND OVER>

A lot of water proofing like double bags on the body control module, dielectric grease on every fitting, relocated and extended vents and had water OVER my dash already but everything is fine. I had my Jeep apart many times, and into electronics having built even my own radios as a kid so made this to take serious water bogging which is common for my area.

My Jeep now has a lot better self cleaning mud tires, a submersible 9500 Warn XTI industrial winch, waterproofed some things I did not know about and never had a problem since. My snorkels held up fine and I can drive UNDER WATER now and I would put my WK up against any WK on mixed terrain and been wheeling with the best and I can outperform most rigs out there and it is also unique to boot. So many haters on here for me having FUN!

I too am one of those Nuts that take a nice v8 Grand Cherokee and water proof it, After the fact I sank one in the drink years ago and learning the expensive lesson of how water does not compress in a cylinder like gas and air. It am 3 hours north of you but most of my wheeling roots stem from the wet south Jersey Pines. If every you make it up my way, I would invite you join men and my bud's on our trails here in NY.

Thomas Maresh From the time of the video, yes however it makes it float longer-lol. The thing is I want water to roll in to some extent so it does not float, and I can control the pumps now too to enable or disable, but by default they come on at roughly 3 inches of water or more when the float closes the circuit.

Thanks for the information about the snorkel , However I'm fully aware of this
    .
Ok Snorkel provides air to the engine what about all other Vital components ?
    .
like the Air filter , Ignition , Abs , Box Fuse , Esp , Radio , Satnav , Fuel Tank
Electric windows , Electric fuel pump, Injectors , Ignition plugs , Starter motor
    .
You cant water proof all , The notion a snorkel will keep the car in running condition after a being deep mud waters is ridicules.

So far you're the only example I've seen of one running, and for my purposes your videos are a success! I'm thinking of doing something similar with my RX-8. The idea is too fun and quirky to let go now. I can imagine in certain circumstances there could be gains in places, nothing crazy, but I still like the idea of the dynamics at play on the highway. I applaud the enthusiasm with the blind run!!! Eff yeah! I know you have probably answered this before but was there any serious damage aside from new carpet?

    • @2000ViperGTSsubscribe

+Rincon009 I don't even have carpet and no damage. The run was not blind my friend-I crossed this before in this Jeep. It all depends on the line and how much rain came in, but always fun as I could care less about being stuck. In fact, if I don't get stuck at least a few times each time I wheel, it is boring to me.

I liked this vid because the person who owns this jeep is taking it way beyond it's capability and doing things other people wouldn't do with the pieces of crap thats in there drive way but they talk this rig down so kudos to the owner keep on doing things your way it's original innovative and functional let the haters hate

So in the end how much did that water exposure end up costing you in repairs? Just curious.

  • @2000ViperGTSsubscribe

It was an M8000 Warn and it finally died after running under water many times. I have a 9500xti now, built for a LOT more abuse. The Jeep is a lot higher now with much more aggressive tires :-)

It was a stock winch and they will run under water for a bit, but will die fast if you run it like that. Mine ran for 2 years running and now it is dead but replaced with a much better Warn industrial strength unit that is over double the cost of a normal winch.

LOL as I keep driving and driving. I drive this 86 miles EACH day to and from my business! Not road worthy? Do you even READ the amount of prep work that went into this Jeep?

I don't know why people get so upset at this. It's your jeep to do what you want with. You pay to play. And if you're any kind of off-roader, you know you are going to break something eventually. I say carry on

That takes "gold balls" to do that one. Went through that with my Honda 450ES. I remember my buddy saying, "doesn't mean it will go everywhere"....my wj is lifted and locked w/4:56...I couldn't bring myself to do that bro. Hat off to yah. Oh, I am a big puss about keeping my gear dry....could mean life or death.
Thanks for being man enough to show your "failure?"....Takes a man to admit to it. Best regards...
