I live near there. The road ends at a T-intersection about half a mile "downstream" from the grade crossing. When traffic backs up from that intersection, people find themselves stopped on the tracks, without room to even back up. The cheapest solution would just be a big, well-lit sign that says "DO NOT STOP ON TRACKS!"
I heard that it is in familiar places that drivers stop their vehicles on the tracks and vice versa in unfamiliar places because they know exactly when a train will be coming
Hey Alan. Wow did you go out of the way to that crossing in Little Silver. I lived near there in 78. If you'd stay there long enough you would've caught a wreck. I guarantee it. Thanks for the memories. It's electrified now I see. Cool. Bob
Bob Stinson: Electrification is getting to be more of a thing on the railroads out east . California's commuter railroads are all eventually going electric. Mainly it's Cal Tran commuter lines.
You can check out the crossings on Main St. and Broad St. near Lansdale Station in Lansdale, PA. There were too many idiots stopping on the tracks, police had to be dispatched from time to time at the traffic lights to direct traffic away from the trouble area. Honestly, the architects should've had the tracks raised about 17 feet and make bridges.
Ramapo Valley Road has idiots stopping on tracks- usually in the left turn lane. Fair Lawn Avenue is another dangerous crossing. There is a short stretch of road on the other side and a traffic light. Cars can stop suddenly and leave you on the tracks. Another dangerous crossing is Grand Ave. You have the green light and people make you stop as they block the road getting into the gas station just across the tracks. Left turning vehicles refuse to yield. The traffic on Railroad Avenue merging onto Kinderkamack at Grand Avenue at the same crossing is bad. There are TWO grade crossings within 500 feet. Both are very dangerous. One has a jughandle where people cross and stop at a yield just over the tracks for merging traffic to go over the other crossing. I always am alert at crossings, and these crossings are a few of the thousands of dangerous crossings in NJ. Which crossing is not dangerous? NONE. ALL ARE DANGEROUS!
+Millenniumforce You should visit Long Island New York Railroad... we have the busiest trains every 30 mins out here since Long Island is suburban Island for NYC...
+William Crew Oh trust me that wont happen. If you cross a railroad crossing when the lights are flashing its actually illegal so whatever happens to you you are at fault.
+PRESTIGER33 I know what you are saying and in the end it does not happen. I was referring to the anti-train critics, lawyers, and politicians who blame the railroad every time a person or car gets hit by a train for commuting these illegal acts.
+PRESTIGER33 I saw an article about the federal government doing a railroad crossing study and there was a film on UA-cam saying railroads are compromising people's safety that was created by a group of lawyers. I just don't remember the name of it though.
I used to live in new jersey and I used to work for nj transit to. man I am glad I left new jersey it is way to exspensive and I am glad that I left 'bs' nj transit to
they have plenty of time and room to get out of the way if a train comes.man that aint nothing you should see it in Trenton near the taco bell on broad street at rush hour especially when the crossing guard stops traffic about 6 car lengths before the tracks
+Megaspasstpräsentiert they have 27000 volts... thats alot, in switzerland we have 15000 and 600 amperes, our strongest locomotive is the Re 6/6 with 9800 HP!
That's the way most drivers in New Jersey are: they could care less about their surroundings, they just wanna get wherever they're going. You won't believe how many drivers have nearly hit me on my bike, and how many cars I've seen that barely escaped getting hit by oncoming trains. People in New Jersey can be total assholes sometimes...
Cnw#8701 even with that sign reading do not stop on tracks these idiots will still be stopping on railroad tracks because idiots ignore signs which they should n,t have a drivers license to begin with
Someone is going to eventually die or get injured from this crossing also I think people get stuck on the tracks because there is a traffic light ahead and we live in NJ but we're not idiot drivers we don't get stuck on the track but NJ transit should put up a Do not stop on track sign so drivers know not to do be a idiot and there's a NJ transit railroad crossing in our town and there is a Do not stop on track sign and has a traffic light ahead and no body stops on the track so they should to the same to this railroad crossing.

DING DING DING DING Come on. Let's play Chicken.
I love your videos!
I love your channel!
Apparently the drivers are all carrying train schedules in their cars! Interesting mix of commuter passenger train cars!
Another great video!
It's funny when people stop on the tracks no train comes, but when there's no cars or line of traffic, the train comes. lol
Surprised that the Nissan GT-R on the second train coming did not get hit
"ATTENTION ALL DRIVERS OF NEW JERSY I WANNA DIE" lol

What causes the cars to stop on the tracks? I don't see traffic lights or stop signs anywhere.
+NBVideos Presents traffic its traffic
what do you film/edit this with?
I'm surprised that people weren't trying to drive around the crossing arms.
Did you notice the person getting in your car of in the corner?
Dang it I want see some action, why that can not happen! I having the same problem on up coast subdivision.............
What kind of horns are those they all fade off with a high pitch
+xxMineVSCraftxx Gaming // xxMVCxx They're hybrid K5LA's mounted on high manifolds.
did anyone catch a black nissan gtr to cross the tracks at 3:49
Does CSX ever use this crossing
I am suprised that you got no action! Those drivers really need to retake their test
What brings you to NJ?

I AIN'T ONE OF THEM on cars ! I stop when Gates are coming down!!
+Millenniumforce You should visit Long Island New York Railroad... we have the busiest trains every 30 mins out here since Long Island is suburban Island for NYC...
I will try in October
+Millenniumforce nice 👍 thx
And those gate lights are spaced out and look like glass for rxr gates
Typical Jersey drivers. (no offense to anyone in Jersey)
"New Jersey, where do you get your drivers license from?" Toys-R-Us!
texas drivers are worse
carbon2983 No. California is.
Florida....
Dem drivers are not that good

+Millenniumforce Idiot at 2:26!
Millenniumforce you should come out to long island and film the long island railroad they are the busiest railroad in north america
+thomas chodak next July
+thomas chodak Maybe until 2030 when the Acelas go 220mph on the NY-WAS Corridor it will be
Yes!!
Somehow the railroad is gonna get blamed when someone gets hit even though it is clear as day who is at fault.
***** Oh lol i have never herd about that haha
+PRESTIGER33 I saw an article about the federal government doing a railroad crossing study and there was a film on UA-cam saying railroads are compromising people's safety that was created by a group of lawyers. I just don't remember the name of it though.
***** Hahaha sounds so b.s to me. Ahh thats too funny
I used to live in new jersey and I used to work for nj transit to. man I am glad I left new jersey it is way to exspensive and I am glad that I left 'bs' nj transit to

the need a sign posted saying "do not stop on tracks"
Luckly no trains hit the cars
There should be a do not stop on tracks sign. If no one pays attention to the sign then remove the crossing and close it down.
Whats the voltage on these lines?
+Megaspasstpräsentiert they have 27000 volts... thats alot, in switzerland we have 15000 and 600 amperes, our strongest locomotive is the Re 6/6 with 9800 HP!
Why is it called 'rush hour' when no one is going anywhere?
Its funny when a train is coming theres no cars
MGIC that’s because the traffic light switches to a clearance green to clear all cars off the tracks
Mad crazy people
That's the way most drivers in New Jersey are: they could care less about their surroundings, they just wanna get wherever they're going. You won't believe how many drivers have nearly hit me on my bike, and how many cars I've seen that barely escaped getting hit by oncoming trains. when i was in new Jersey i saw a student driver cut ome one off
They should add "Do Not Stop On Tracks" signs, considering how incompetent these people are when it comes to railroad crossing safety!
Cnw#8701 even with that sign reading do not stop on tracks these idiots will still be stopping on railroad tracks because idiots ignore signs which they should n,t have a drivers license to begin with
when a crossing is activated people need to stop!!! never stop on the tracks!!!
At 3:50 are you serious you stop on the middle of the tracks!
It is Jersey and is to be expected I know I live here...
Think those drivers are bad try Lakewood, NJ in Rush Hour
That was amazing! This is why New Jersey is broke 😂😂
When is the next Stupid Orange season?
NJ drivers probably get their license from a potato
People can't drive worth shit in Florida, North Carolina, California, or even Texas either! What difference does it make? LOL
Let me guess Alan they get their drivers license from Walmart.
you should have parked your car on the tracks lol
Someone is going to eventually die or get injured from this crossing also I think people get stuck on the tracks because there is a traffic light ahead and we live in NJ but we're not idiot drivers we don't get stuck on the track but NJ transit should put up a Do not stop on track sign so drivers know not to do be a idiot and there's a NJ transit railroad crossing in our town and there is a Do not stop on track sign and has a traffic light ahead and no body stops on the track so they should to the same to this railroad crossing.
Even I support Operation Lifesaver
Good thing I just live in Delaware not New Jersey
the funny part is 2:41-2:46
lolololololololololololololololololololol What would if there would be action on the tracks? lololololololololololololololololololololololololol
Nissan GT-R
