@@angryb0325 nope. Watch the anime, it is great. This show was done badly done parody. Started off as passable, then just got worse and worse. I made it to episode 9... and then just quit. Couldn't stomach it enough to finish the season
I think the main issue with the netflix show is telling us who spike is too early vs seeing him and the crew over stand alone stories, getting us to fall in love with the characters and then SHOWING us his past catch up and us be invested.
Sadly, Jupiter Jazz wouldn't make sense with the current story line of CB live adaptation... they already ruined the characters that are key for that story.
The disclusion for waltz for Venus is one of the reasons I haven't got around to watching it yet lol. John cho's fighting style in the live-action show looks nothing like how spike fights. And it's a real martial art too it's not like a made-up one I don't know why they couldn't just teach John cho Jeet Kun do for 6 weeks LOL
"Disclusion" isn't the word you are looking for here since it means "the separation of the opposing occlusal surfaces of the upper and lower teeth by movement of the mandible".
It's weird how Cowboy Bebop was adapted into live action in the first place because there was a weird sentiment that animated works couldn't be art (I'm not referring to the current showrunners btw, the first drafts for live action Bebop date back to the 2000s, and this was the executives thoughts at the time), only for Arcane to come on the air around the same time and destroy those notions.
I am not familiar with the characters and never watched the anime. But I could not make it past two episodes. It's like watching two teens arguing all the time. I think some of it could be decent.... But no, just no...
I always believed spike is secretly immortal or was a cyborg. Like the child in sympathy for the devil. Because of the scenes that were shown of him getting his left eye. I also felt like spikes amnesia was a nod to X men's wolverine. So I believe the lack of success of cowboy bebop in Japan was because its solely a show chalked full of western pop culture references that would have flew over their heads. That resulted in a lack of a second season.
My understanding from an interview was that the creator didn’t want a second season which is why the movie took a bunch of convincing to make. But that interview was afterwards so it might be the creator reconning but a lot of anime series are Tight stories that come to a close leaving you both happy and wanting more.
@@john8ross IIRC, Watanabe wanted the audience to come up with what happened at the very end, be it Spike's dead, just sleeping, or something else. With the movie, that takes place between episodes 22 and 23.
The thing about plot lines is, the original Cowboy Bebop anime didn't have connected plotlines with the exception of a few two parters, because it was made with the idea on mind that if you caught a rerun on network television without having seen previous episodes, you would be able to still fully watch and enjoy the episode. And full seasons being released on home video was incredibly rare. With the rise of streaming, this mindset has become much more uncommon, with some shows in recent memory being criticized for not having an overarching plot line. An example would be Uncle Grandpa, which while it had its issues, was criticized for not having a coherent plot compared to contemporary shows like Adventure Time or Steven Universe. Another example is how the last season of Samurai Jack aired years later and had a connected story, but previous episodes were more of a one off episodic style. So the Netflix live action version of Bebop was also an example of this trend, but it really didn't work imo.
The entire cast feels like too old to capture the energy from the original. Especially John Cho.. Idk the wrinkles on his forehead made him look like 20 yrs older than the anime version it feels off, at least to me.
For the part where you said you don’t think the trans guy would make it in, I disagree. They already have a Black Jet and a lesbian Faye lmao. Netflix doesn’t shy away from those kind of things
This abomination should have never been made. Shame on you for giving it attention it doesn't deserve. Netflix adaptations are a crime against creativity and artistic expression.
... plot lines missed??? They made their own plots.... in season ONE... you're upset that they decided to have a writers room, instead of just copy and pasting dialog from the anime???
Actually that’s part of my problem with the remake is they didn’t make their own plots. They took nine episodes from the original and stuffed in 20-30 minutes of their own versions of their backstory and links which didn’t help the story.
@@john8ross They weren't trying to HELP the story, they were making their own lane. And people are crying, because the on screen adaptation (not remake) isn't the SAME as the anime.. It's ridiculous.
@@ATLsF1N3ST91 the problem with that is it misses the point of making a good story, right? How is the story served by making vicious show up in every episode? I’m just dreading more of the Vicious and Julia soap opera, plus how they will do Edward. Ed isn’t a hyperactive sugar fiend, she’s just, different.
