    LYRICS
Something In The Way She Moves by James Taylor
Well, there’s something in the way she moves
Or looks my way or calls my name
That seems to leave this troubled world behind
And if I’m feeling down and blue
Or troubled by some foolish game
She always seems to make me change my mind
I feel fine any time she’s around me now
She’s around me now almost all the time
If I’m well you can tell that she’s been with me now
She’s been with me now quite a long, long time
    And I feel fine
Every now and then the things I lean on
    They lose their meaning
    And I find myself careening
Into places where I should never let me go, no
She has the power to go where
No one else can find me
    And to silently remind me
Of the happiness and good times that I know
Well, I guess I just got to know then
It isn’t what she’s got to say
Or how she thinks or where she’s been
To me the words are nice the way they sound
I like to hear them best that way
Doesn’t much matter what they mean
She says them mostly just to calm me down
I feel fine any time that she’s around me now
She’s around me now I guess just about all the time
And if I’m well you can tell that she’s been with me now
She’s been with me now quite a long, long time
    Yes, I feel fine

My mother loved Sweet Baby James and played his albums all the time as I grew up. She passed away three days ago and this song makes me feel so good. I know she’s with me and still making me feel at peace.

Life is so hectic, but James Taylor is one of only a handful of recording artists/singers that put me at peace almost immediately. So glad he’s been and always will be a part of my musical life. ‘Love Always’ Matthew 21:22

These BBC recordings of James Taylor absolutely astonish me. It was such a complicated, divided, and conflicted time, and here comes this strung out, homeless heroin addict with the most honest, pure and virtuosic live performances ever recorded. And, in my opinion, no solo live performance has ever come close.

On May 29,2024 I saw JT is concert at the Hollywood Bowl. The concert started with a video of the very young JT starting to sing this song. About Every 15 secs JT aged a few years as he was singing this song. When the video finally arrived at the current JT age and look, Taylor stepped out on stage to finish the song with no distinction when the band started playing and the video stopped. What an intro to the concert!!! He played for two hours and just SLAYED it! I've been a JT fan since he made his intro into the music world in 1970 ( I was a sophomore in college). Go see JT before he stops touring.....you won't regret it!

Who could not be inspired by such a beautiful expression of pure love. ❤ Every song he sings is straight from the heart & so comforting, whether he sings of heartbreak or joy, there always seems to be an assurity that all will be okay. From my 'bedsit years' in 1970 through the subsequent years when I started to find my feet, Sweet Baby James accompanied me through his music. And as I sit here in my 75th year, we still 'ride shotgun, free & easy'. James you good man, Long may you Ride. ❤😊🎉

🎉🎉🎉 beautiful ! Immediately connected in a deep way with JT's music starting with his first album which I heard and I was about 11 years old. I was a troubled young man even at that age and those feelings continued for years with me but James Taylor always made me feel better just to listen to his music. It's no secret that the man has his experience with troubles and isn't afraid to address them in his music and he also did not fail to help the young version of me deal with things better.🎉🎉🎉 I don't listen to him as often as I could but when I do I know his music is like medicine for my soul. James Taylor was and still is so good. 1970 was over 50 years ago but the music holds up classically. He doesn't get enough credit for his guitar playing, just himself on acoustic guitar, it doesn't look complex but nobody else can make that James Taylor acoustic guitar sound!

@@JeffreyStock Taylor has stated that "I never thought for a second that George intended to do that. I don't think he intentionally ripped anything off, and all music is borrowed from other music. So completely I let it pass." Taylor also acknowledged that the ending of "Something in the Way She Moves" was taken from the Beatles' song "I Feel Fine" and so "what goes around comes around."

No. I don’t like that speculation. Leave it alone.

What more is there to say? He nails it in song after song, album after album...especially in those early years. Wonder if he was aware of how many lonely teenaged souls his music saved back then.

These BBC broadcasts are the best images we have of early James Taylor....just remarkably detailed. I've never seen James' Gibson J-50 up close in that level of clarity....This is no doubt due to the difference in our respective broadcast standards. In the U.S. we have NTSC while the Brits enjoy PAL. PAL may have fewer frames per second, but it also has more resolution lines than NTSC. PAL television broadcasts have 625 lines of resolution, compared to NTSC's 525. Just a thought....

Beautiful version. I always loved the base in the recorded versions, but this sounds magical without it!
