I’m not gonna lie, when I first saw that neck break scene I hated it, but the more you really think about it this is a really bold choice, because ultimately it lets Zod win. It plays to a young and inexperienced Clark and how he knows his actions will have huge ramifications. Point being, it’s a catalyst now for why he will never ever take another life. The fact that he had to do it to one of his own people. One of the last remaining Kryptonians. At that moment, he not only chooses to be human, but he makes the ultimate sacrifice for humanity.
Lots of symbolism.
But honestly I was traumatized from the movie, because I remember watching the first half but the second half I couldn’t remember. And still this movie made me cry 😭
Christopher Reeve‘s superman killed Zod in Superman 2 and Lois Lane killed Fiora and the other big guy killed him self by jumping off the ledge thinking he could fly
Superman dosnt have a problem killing. It was that it was the last of his people that he finally found. And they killed hundreds of not thousands in there fight in the city. That's something Clark wouldn't do. He would have lead him away from the city. The whole ending was crap. Great movie till then.
@@derrickhale-yl2cy because zod wants to kill him fist that's why he attacked him. So if he made him chase him out of the city could have saved hundreds. And this wasn't his first day he'd been saving people his whole life. The movie shows that. They even addressed that they screwed up in Batman vs Superman by making sure we know the city was clear of people and the port was abandoned. That's why he asked Batman why he brought doomsday back to the city. He cares about innocent lives.
Yeah, and people like you are the reason we had to fight like hell to get the Snyder Cut, and we'll never get Justice League 2 and 3. Nobody wanted a complex superhero movie because they wanted dumbed down Marvel movies. Now that everybody is bored with all of Marvel's cheesy bullshit, everybody comes back praising Snyder's movies.
"You are my son" and the scream really got me. Overall, this movie was majestic.
Fun Fact- the Krypton scene was planned to have Jor, Lara, Zod & others speak Kryptonian language developed by a linguist Christine Shreyer. The idea was scrapped but the written language was used in backgrounds of some scenes... especially in their Liquid Geo display systems.
The Superman symbol is one of several other symbols of Kryptonian family bloodline, hence why Zod's symbol & Faora's symbol look different but kept the House of El symbol as close to the letter "S" as possible.
I love this movie so much, not only does it have some of the most incredible action sequences I’ve ever seen on film, but also a very well done story, with an appropriate serious tone and a sense of realism that grounds it and the characters.
The crazy thing is, this is why people don’t like man of steel because Superman is not a Boy Scout and that’s stupid. Man of steel is a masterpiece

I really liked your reaction to this masterpiece of a movie, and I also liked how you caught the purpose of the Codex in its first scene without any exposition, even me being a massive fan of this movie couldn't figure that out, so kudos to you.

14:48-There's been many versions of how Johnathan Kent dies in the Superman history, but all have one thing in common: It was because he was protecting Clark. I do love how this movie details the rough time the Kents had raising him...But no one else on Earth could have did a better job! 101:25__Love the look The Kents give each other...It's like they already knew...

This movie was ahead of it’s time. At that time superhero movies were about funny one liners and batling enemies that wanted to be rich or just hated the superheros. This movie put you in the middle of what would actually happen if gods among men battle for end of the world implications. Wish she would have included Flight 1.0 in her review which to this day gives me chills. The score and music by Hanz Zimmer is the best of any superhero movie before or after it. This movie is a Masterpiece and those who didn’t like it because of the destruction can go watch Avengets I where it’s the same destruction but edited so you don’t see all the.casualties

How old are you, 19? There hasn't been enough time to look back and say this is "groundbreaking". 2013 was only TEN YEARS AGO.
And yes, there were dark superhero movies before 2013. They were about BATMAN, because BATMAN is the dark hero, not Superman. Superman is NOT a dark character. The whole point of Superman is that he's that he's an objectively good guy that does the right things for the right reasons, because of his upbringing!
And no, I'm not a boomer. I'm from GENERATION X. My FATHER was a baby boomer. I am not. But I am old enough to know that a ten year old movie is not "a classic".

3:17 Zod and Jor-El are not actually related, but some of the different narratives in the comics over the years have them both coming up through their schooling and become best friends, even after Jor-El becomes a member of the Science Guild and Zod eventually becomes head of Krypton's military.

It has one flaw in the movie and that is they cast Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Makes me feel old because I was grown up and watched her in the movie Six Pack as a teenager.

Some people give this movie a bad wrap . But if you have read Superman comic from the 70’s to now this is very much that Superman . And I know Superman doesn’t kill but when ur in that same spot what do you do ? Whatwould you do? Superman may not be from earth but he ultimately is …. Human
Pretty cool, and unique, that at times you use what looks like a bootleg copy from a movie theater. Not sure if it's an edit to try and avoid copyright claims but if it is, others should definitely employ it. Either way, I like it -- it adds a bit of drama to the video.

You pointing out that Jonathan Kent had Clark go with the others to the bridge to blend in, almost every other reactor seems to think it’s just a stupid decision that they complain about not making sense, when not only is it intended to have him appear normal, but if the tornado should get worse for them, Jonathan knows Clark would be able to protect his mother and everyone else as an absolute last resort.
Nice reaction - I actually thought a story like this could take up 2 films, because we see how isolated Kal is and they could play up more what it would mean for him to encounter others like himself - I guess that's a compliment, since the story premise here is so rich it leaves us wanting more - I think Snyder may be the best filmmaker for this kind of spectacular action - IMO at the end Zod's intention was to commit suicide - he was in hell now, cut off from his only purpose - and he was too powerful to die, so he goaded Kal into releasing him
I have to say. I saw this reaction and before I even watched it, I gave it a thumbs up just because of the Saxophone in the background. After watching I subscribed.

Please, be sure to watch the ultimate cut of Batman V Superman. You can watch Wonder Woman right after it, maybe even Suicide Squad and then 4 hours movie Zack Snyder's Justice League. Please, be sure not to watch the 2 hours version called Justice League, cause it's terrible hot mess of a movie, destroyed by greedy producers and Joss Whedon - but I don't think it's fair to blame him for the whole situation. He didn't have a time to re-do the film into 2 hours funny comedy, since the material was already made and not intended to be the 2 hours comedy.
Man of Steel 2013 was a great adoption story.

well its not just the glasses either, no one would suspect superman working a normal job. Superman and Clark have different hair, Clark's is curly and to the left, Superman's is straight and to the right, makes their face shape look completely different so Clark's face looks rounder than Superman's. The glasses distract from the eyes so even if you see Superman up close you wouldnt be able to tell that theyre the same people (compared to the hundreds and thousands of people on the earth anyway)
This is the top 2 top 3 best superhero films ever made

28:39 I haven't actually seen this whole movie, but this is the part where I think it really became not a real Superman story. As soon as Superman saw that transmission, he would go meet with the President and explain that he is not a threat and that he's going to save the Earth from his fellow Kryptonians. In fact, he would already have met with the President, as soon as he spoke to holographic Jor-El and mastered his powers.
They 're making it a dark story, and Superman is NOT a dark character.
The proper Superman movies are Superman the Movie from 1978 and its sequels, including Superman Returns.
I hope the upcoming Black Superman movie shows Superman as a good guy again, and uses the classic theme from 1978! 🙂

Pulled up the video as it's not a common movie seen in the reactions arena.. But I couldn't stay that long.. Why is it that some reactors seem to think it's a good idea to be constantly running at the mouth thru the entire movie, Guessing and second guessing everything that flashes across the screen.?? Try WATCHING the movie a bit to get those questions, that your mouth just can't shut for, answered and THEN maybe comment on them.. I've seen a lot of reactors and frankly the best ones don't try to analyze every damn thing thru a movie or think that they are smarter than the authors themselves by making these running predictions of what will come or why anything is happening, and though they DO React to the films throughout, they do not just run at the mouth for the sake of running at the mouth, their reactions are genuine and honest in their expressions and comments, and THAT is what makes a good reactor..

If you're watching these movies for the first time, make sure to not ruin your appreciation of them by watching their theatrical versions. Watch Batman v. Superman Ultimate Edition and Zack Snyder's Justice League after this one. You can watch Suicide Squad 2016 but know there's a better version than fans wanna see and that is generally called amongst us fans "The Ayer cut". Hopefully we'll see it some day. You can always watch the theatrical versions of BvS and Justice League 2017 to compare but after those ones.
I actually really liked batman v superman and so liked the longer ultimate version even better. It's hard to give advice about the Justice League movie. With it being made by two completely different directors it literary became Frankin Movie. The Snyder cut justice league movie is good but it is soooooo longer. You either need to put aside an entire day or watch over several days

Yes, this was shown theatrically in 3D. And released on 3D bluray for home viewing. Its the only way I've watched it.
When you do BvS, don't make the same mistake others have...be sure its Snyder's Ultimate Cut, rated R.

he still need the codex in Kal's blood if you have watched the movie, the finale was essentially to force Clark to surrender which was the first thing Zod even wanted when making his first contact on broadcast, that is if you watched the movie
Mars is uninhabitable even for the Kryptonians, there are no natural resources such as Earth on Mars.

It is literally in the movie, Clark Kent is Superman is Kal'El - Codex flew in him since he was a baby IN THE MOVIE - Zod wanted Codex - Zod escaped Phantom zone - Zod was founding Supes - Supes on EARTH not ANY OTHER PLANETS - Zod didnt know where was Codex - Zod knew Supes is Codex - Zod wanted to rebuild Krytonian people - Zod needed Supes even he is a corpse HE SAID IN THE MOVIE - "The foundation has to be build on something" said by Zod IN THE MOVIE - Zod fought Supes - Zod caused destruction ALONG WITH The World Engine - Supes caused destruction BECAUSE HE IS A NEWBIE IN A FIGHT WHO WAS MORE TRAINED THAN HIM aka Zod is A General, A GENERAL - Supes broke Zod's neck BECAUSE THINK ABOUT THIS: Supes was on Earth for 20years+ and he is that strong, Zod on Earth for few days and he could FLY + USED HEAT VISION, why? because he was adapting faster than Supes, SO? keep Zod alive for more weeks and he would kill all the humanity, how can i know? "THE FOUNDATION HAS TO BE BUILD ON SOMETHING" show human skulls scene IN THE MOVIE, UNDERSTAND NOW?

I can't wait for next year's latest Origin Stories to begin. I think Clark stops a mugging, Peter Parker's Uncle Ben dies, etc etc. I'm glad THIS film offered us pre-Clark tales but I am SOOO bored with origin clips.

Aw man, you're starting out with one of the worst iterations of the DC universe. Zack Snyder just doesn't get Superman. While Superman can fit into dark stories and over the last 80 years, there have been a few thousand Superman stories told and some of them have a threat that is quite grim. But with rare exceptions, Superman himself has not been depicted as grim. Snyder misguidedly believes otherwise.
Clark was always warm in scenes with his mom in MOS. He also smiled quite a bit during his 1st flight which makes sense to me.
Even canon (comic) Superman has had to get violent before. Christopher Reeves era was depicted lighter in tone but still has heavy moments as well. Where do you personally draw the line for Superman?
I feel bad that she’s going to watch non Zack Snyder DCEU films. They are terrible and a waste of time.

But he was basically saying was that in order for Krypton to live again all the humans would have to die because they can't survive the atmospheric composition of Krypton... And plus they would all be superbeings so they would just wipe out the human race
To answer one of your questions, yes Krypton is much warmer than Earth, too warm for us weak humans to survive because Krypton was between 140 to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Too hot for any mammalian life to handle. Also because of the size of Krypton their gravity was 5 times stronger, which they had adapted to of course, along with the heat. But for us the weight to our strength ratio is too great.
